2nd HUMSS CORE QUIZ COMPETITION

RULES AND MECHANICS
A. RULES
1. Each school is entitled to one (1) team composed of two (2) representative
either from Grade 11 or Grade 12.
2. The contest shall cover the Introduction to the Philosophy of the Human
Person, Understanding Society, Culture and Politics and Contemporary
Philippine Arts from the Regions.(References: Vibal, Pheonix and DepEd
Resource Material)
3. The contest shall be conducted orally in English.
4. Each school shall submit three (3) EASY QUESTIONS, three (3) AVERAGE
QUESTIONS, three (3) DIFFICULT QUESTIONS from the three (3) subject
areas. Questions should be in English, with the corresponding answers and
references. The questions shall be submitted via e-mail to
amycuevassolis@gmail.com with file name corequiz (name of school) on or
before January 7, 2020.
5. The contestants shall provide themselves with 1/8 illustration board, chalk
and eraser.
6. Only complete and correct-spelled answers will be accepted. Acronyms and
abbreviations will not be allowed unless question is required it.
7. The answer/s requiring the name of a person or persons needs to be
complete – indicating the correct spelling of the first name/s and
surname/s.
8. Trainers and chaperons must keep distance from their contestant/s during
the contest proceedings. Any means of communication between the
trainer/contestants while the competition is on-going shall be construed as
cheating. First offense shall be meted with warning while second offense
will be meted with disqualification.
9. Any form of cheating such as copying the answer of a fellow contestant/s
shall meet an automatic disqualification from the contest.
10.Inquiries/protest shall only be addressed by the official trainer to the Board
of Jurors immediately after the answer is given or announced. All inquiries
or protest must be supported with evidence. Reviewers are not considered
as evidences. However, if the evidences presented revealed conflicting
answers, the case shall be decided upon by the Boards of Jurors whose
decision is final.
11.Any violation of any aforementioned rules shall result to disqualification of
the contestant.
12.The decision of the Board of Jurors in all matters pertaining to the
competition is final.

B. MECHANICS
1. There will be three rounds with a total of thirty (30) questions. Ten (10)
EASY QUESTIONS for one (1) point each, ten (10) AVERAGE QUESTIONS for
two (2) points each and ten (10) DIFFICULT QUESTIONS for three (3) points
each.
2. Questions will be read twice by the quizmaster. The contestants will only
write their answers when the quizmaster says “GO”.
3. Fifteen (15) seconds is given to answer the question. However the Board of
Jurors will decide on the additional time to be given on questions requiring
long answers.
4. As soon as the buzzer sounds, the teams should stop writing their answers
and wait for the proctors to get their answer board. The proctor will submit
directly the answer in illustration board to the Board of Jurors for checking
and later for them to announce who among the teams got it correct as the
scoring committee records it in the score sheet and score board.
5. In the event that a score is attributed to the wrong team or not recorded at
all, the assigned proctor should immediately inform the person in charge of
the score sheet and score board
6. Score gained from the three (3) categories will be totaled to determined
the winners.
7. In case of a tie, tie-breaker question/s will be asked to determined the
winner.
8. The top three (3) winners will be awarded trophies and certificates and the
remaining seven (7) teams will be awarded certificates of merit.
9. Trainers, contestants and head teachers may only approach the scoreboard
after the finals score and ranking were done.
10.All should stay to witness the awarding ceremony.
