QUIZ BEE
One participant per school is allowed to join the Quiz Bee. All contestants should present their YMCA ID.
ELIMINATION ROUND
All contestants will take the written qualifying exam with forty (40) items for 40 minutes . The ten (10) contestants having
the highest score will be selected for the final round.

FINAL ROUND
The Final Round is divided into three rounds: easy, average and difficult round. Each round will have eight (8) questions
from the area of Science, Mathematics, General Knowledge / Current Events and YMCA.
Each question from the different round has the following equivalent point: 1 point for easy round, 2 points for average and 3
points for difficult round. The quiz master will read the question twice.
The contestant has 10 seconds to answer the easy round, 15 seconds for average round and 20 seconds for difficult round. An
additional 5 seconds is allotted for mathematical questions.
All the points from the three rounds will be combined and computed to get the final score. The three contestants with the
highest score will be declared winners. In case of tie, a tie breaking question will be given.
Each answer will be validated by three judges with the help of answer checkers. The decision of the board of judges is final
and non-appealable.

MODE OF ANSWERING FOR THE FINAL ROUND


Each contestant is provided with a small whiteboard and marker for them to write their answers within the time allotment set
by the Committee. As soon as the time is over, the contestants will show their answer to the audience.

BIBLE QUIZ BEE


ELIMINATION ROUND

1. There shall be one (1) contestant per school, coming from the elementary, high school and college.
2. Contestant must be a duly member of the YMCA Manila.
3. Questions shall refer to people, places and events only.
4. All questions will be in multiple choices in nature.
5. The following are the coverage for each level:
Elementary Level Four Gospels (Mark, John, Luke and Matthew)
High School level Acts and Epistles
College Level Books of Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy)

6. All contestants will answer a written test of 30 questions in thirty (30) minutes and will be checked.
7. The ten (10) contestants having the highest score will be selected for the final round.
FINAL ROUND
1. A total of ten (10) questions shall be asked in the Bible Quiz.
2. Questions shall refer to people, places and events only.
3. All questions shall be by multiple choices, enumeration, and identification or fill in the blanks.
4. Contestants shall write their answers on the board provided by the committee.
5. Each question shall be read twice by the Quizmaster. After the second reading, the Quizmaster will say “GO.” The contestants
will write their answer within fifteen (15) seconds. Proctors will immediately check the answers of the contestants and record in
the tally board and sheet.
6. Top three contestants will be declared as winners on the basis of point system.
7. In case of tie, the quizmaster will ask a new question. The “sudden death” will be applied

ON-THE-SPOT DRAWING CONTEST
1. This contest is open to all amateur artists of the YMCA of Manila clubs
– Red Triangle, Hi-Y and College-Y. One contestant per school is allowed.
2. All contestants should present their YMCA ID.
3. Participants shall provide his/her own materials: ¼ size illustration board SCHEDULE
and pencil. Oil Pastel is the medium to be used. No other than a pencil shall
be used for sketching or finalizing the line traces of the drawing. Elementary Saturday, March 2, 2024; 8:00 a.m.
4. The theme will be given 5 minutes before the contest starts. (Districts 1 - 6)
5. Participants must submit their work to the YMCA of Manila staff-in-charge
on or before the two-hour allotted time. High School Saturday, March 9, 2024; 8:00 a.m.
6. All entries shall become the property of and shall be kept under the custody
(Districts 1 - 6)
of the YMCA of Manila. College Saturday, March 16, 2024; 8:00 a.m.
7. Winners of the contest will be chosen on the following criteria:

Concept Design 30%
Color Rendition 30%
Relevance to the theme 20%

EXTEMPORANEOUS SPEAKING
(FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE DIVISION)
 All speeches must be delivered in English.
 All contestants should submit their YMCA ID.
 Each contestant shall pick a number which also indicates their order in the contest. They shall pick from a set of selected topic
of the one they will discuss.
 Each contestant shall be given five (5) minutes to prepare for his/her piece and five (5) minutes to deliver it orally. A contestant
shall wait for the one (1) bell signal to start his/her speech. A red warning sign for the last one (1) minute will be shown to a
contestant to recap his/her speech. Two (2) bells a signal to stop the speech.
 Reading from any written note is not allowed.

ORATORICAL
( HIGH SCHOOL & COLLEGE DIVISION )
 Subject on the contest piece shall revolve on the general theme of the YMCA.
 All contestants should present their YMCA ID.
 Each contestant shall pick a number. The number shall indicate the order of the contestants.
 All speeches must be delivered in English, not to exceed seven (7) minutes, but not less than five (5) minutes.
 All contestants must submit three (3) copies of his/her piece typewritten/computerized on a standard size (8 x 11) white bond
paper in double spacing, to the Committee before the contest at the YMCA of Manila Office, 350 A. Villegas St., Ermita,
Manila.
 Criteria:
Voice: (pitch, flexibility, volume, use) 20%
Physical: (appearance, gesture, poise, movement) 10%
Speech Structure: (opening, body, closing) 10%
Development: (pattern, material, organization) 10%
Language: (grammar, pronunciation, style, appropriateness. 15%
Manner: (directness, assurance, enthusiasm) 10%
Effectiveness: (achievement of purpose, interest reception) 10%
Speech Value: (ideal, logic, impressiveness) 15%

PAGSULAT NG SANAYSAY
1. Ang paliggsahan ay bukas sa lahat ng miyembro ng Red Triangle, Hi-Y at College-Y. Isang kalahok lamang sa bawat
eskwelahan ang papayagan. Dapat ipakita ang YMCA ID para sa pagpapatunay nito.
2. Ang bawat kalahok ay bibigyan ng tanging koda (code).
3. Ang bilang ng mga salita sa sanaysay ay hindi bababa sa dalawang daang (200) salita at hindi naman lalagpas sa bilang na
limandaang (500) salita para sa miyembro ng RTC at tatlong daang salita (300) at hindi naman lalagpas sa bilang na
limandaang (500) salita para sa miyembro ng HI-Y at College-Y.
4. Lahat ng sanaysay ay dapat sumailalim sa paksa na ibinigay sa mga kalahok sampung (10) minuto bago ang simula ng
paligsahan.
5. Bibigyan ang mga kalahok ng isang (1) oras para matapos ang kanilang sanaysay.
6. Dapat gamitin ng kalahok ang ibibigay na papel na gawa ng YMCA of Manila upang isaalang-alang ang kanyang likha bilang
opisyal pagpasok sa paligsahan.
7. Lahat ng kalahok ay dapat magdala ng itim na ballpen. Walang kalahok ang papayagang magdala ng anumang gamit sa
npagsusulat, hal. papel, tala, cellphone atbp. Ang mga piraso ng papel ng paligsahan ay ibibigay sa bawat kalahok ng kinauuku-
lang Komite ng Paligsahan.
8. Lahat ng piyesa na i-papasa ay magiging pag-aari at itatago sa pangangalaga ng YMCA of Manila

ESSAY WRITING CONTEST


1. All contest articles must be written in English containing no less than 150 words but not exceeding 200 words for Elementary,
while no less than 300 words but not exceed in 500 words for High School and College.
2. All contestants should present their YMCA ID.
3. All articles must evolve from a subject matter which shall be made known to the contestants ten (10) minutes before the contest
period.
4. The contestants shall be allowed to compose their articles for a period of one (1) hour only.
5. All contestants must bring with him/her a black ballpen. No contestants shall be allowed to carry with him/her any writing
items, e.g. paper, notes, cellphone etc. Pieces of contest paper shall be provided to each contestant by the Contest Committee
concerned. A code number shall be provided each Contestant.
6. All entries shall become the property of and shall be kept under the custody of the YMCA of Manila.

THE YMCA VOICE CHALLENGE
1. This contest is open to all amateur singers of the YMCA of Manila clubs-Red Triangle, Hi-Y, College-Y and Advisers Only.
One contestant per school is allowed.
2. All contestants should submit their YMCA ID.
3. Participants are free to select their own piece (Tagalog or English). They are required to render one song.
4. Participants must provide their own minus-one in Flash Drive or android cellphone to be connected directly by an audio cord.
Please be informed that the official sound system operator has no available cord for apple phone users.
5. There will be Elimination, Semi Final and Grand Final round for Elementary & High School Level. While College and Club
Advisers level will advance immediately to Grand Final round after the Elimination round.
6. Winners of the contest will be chosen on the following criteria:
• Quality of voice (vocal timbre & dynamics) 30%
• Interpretation (timing, pitch & style) 30%
• Showmanship (Stage discipline & audience impact/ 20%
blocking & choreography)
• Diction 20%
Total 100%

7. In case of tie, the judges will break the tie and will immediately announce the winners.
8. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and non-appealable.
