“Climate Change Quiz Bee: Youth in Climate Action”


(In Celebration of the National Day for Youth in Climate Action)

Mechanics for High School Category

1. The contest is open for Both Private and Public Schools in Region XII.
2. There shall be 15 schools to compete. Teams shall be endorsed by DepEd XII before
November 20. In case that there will be less than 15 teams to compete, the organizer shall
have the right to directly communicate with other schools for entry.
3. The Quiz Bee will be played by group. The team shall be composed of 1 (one) Grade 7 or
Grade 8, 1 (one) Grade 9 or Grade 10, 1 (one) Grade 11 or Grade 12 and 1 (one) Supervising
Coach.
4. The contest will be played in three rounds, the Bronze Round with the easy questions, the
Silver round with the average questions and the Golden round with the difficult questions.
5. Bronze Questions are equivalent to one (1) point each, silver questions are equivalent to
Three (3) points each, and gold questions are equivalent to Five (5) points each.
6. There shall be 10 questions per category. The scoring system is cumulative from 1st to the 3rd
round. In case of tie, there shall be a tie-breaker round, to be played by tied team.
7. Each question will be flashed in a multi-media projector and shall be read twice.
8. Each question will be given 10 seconds to answer.
9. Contestants will be provided an illustration board that will serve as their answer sheet. After
ten seconds and on cue of the quizmaster, all answer sheets must be raised.
10. The correct answer will be announced after each question, contestants who gave the correct
answer are requested to raise their nametags bearing the name of the school for the
quizmaster to recognize and announce to the audience. Contestants who gave incorrect
answers are requested to lay down their answer sheets.
11. In the case of participants contesting the answers, they shall face the technical pool that will
be composed of technical people from DENR, EMB, and Climate Change Commission.
12. A separate projector will be provided as an official tally sheet.
13. The Quiz Master will proceed to the next question only when the validators have indicated
that they have properly recorded the scores.
14. The highest scorer after the third round will be declared the 1st place winner with the two
succeeding scorers as 2nd and 3rd placer. In the case of a tie in the last round, a tie-breaker
question will be given to determine the winners.
15. Complaints will be entertained only before the declaration of winners.
16. Contestants are requested to wear their complete school uniform during the Quiz Bee
proper. They are not allowed to use cell phones during the quiz bee proper.
17. Questions shall revolve but not limited to climate change, Solid waste, Biodiversity,
Environmental Laws and International Agreements.
