14th August 1947 is written in golden colored letters in the history of Pakistan.
This day Pakistan became free from British rule. All Pakistanis celebrates this day
as a national festival every year. This day is not only celebrated in Pakistan but
also celebrated in foreign where Pakistanis live. This day is also celebrated in
different manners in different parts of Pakistan and government's offices. Schools,
colleges, offices, villages and even courts celebrate this day by hoisting our
national flag. The Prime Minister also hoists the national flag. Great ceremonies
are held at army headquarters as well. Flower wreaths are presented to the tombs of
heroes of patriotic movement like Quaid e Azam and Allama Iqbal. Every
Pakistani pays tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives, property and
everything for the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of
subcontinent. In short the entire nation celebrates Independence Day in its true
spirit.
The 1st day in my class room/School was not only boring but also fearful for me
for the first hour. There was no any my friend there. Some students were making
fun. But when my teacher came in my class everything was changed. A boy of my
class came to me and proposed me for making his friend. He told his name Ali. He
was very intelligent boy of this class. He always stands first in class. I smiled and
gave him my hand. He introduced his friends to me. I felt very happy that time. It
was a great achievement for me. Soon all class became friendly to me. We had
lunch together and played games in break time. My teachers were also very polite
and welcoming to me. They guided me very well. In short I enjoyed the school
work and the company of the class fellows.
Child Labour
Child labour is the worst form of child exploitation. It is widespread all over the
world. About seventy-three million children belonging to the age group of ten to
fourteen years are engaged in child labour all over the globe. Illiteracy of the
parents, large families, need of additional income and poverty are the chief causes
of the exploitation of child labour. Parents are indirectly responsible for this.
Childhood is the foundation of one’s career. At this stage, children should be sent
to schools, not to work. Child labour lowers the wage rates of adult labourers.
Employers exploit children due to their docile nature and their willingness to do
monotonous jobs. They face health problems. Several programs have been
undertaken both at the national and international level to check and stop this
practice. The people should also help the government in its efforts to tackle this
problem.
PAKISTANI FESTIVALS
A festival is a celebration of life. Festivals bring peace and joy to the masses. They
break the monotony of life. Pakistann festivals are numerous. They are of three
types- national, religious and seasonal. The first type of festivals i.e. national
festivals are celebrated with great patriotic fervor. The second type of festivals
depicts the religious association of the people. Third ones mark the change of
seasons. The people celebrate their faith or seasonal change with gaiety and
enthusiasm. The national festivals include, Independence Day, Pakistan Resolution
Day, Defense Day etc. Religious festivals of Pakistan include Eid ul Fitar, Eid ul
Adha, Eid milad un Nabi etc. The seasonal festivals include Baisakhi fair, and
Basant etc. Although people enjoy festivals but festivals also have a negative
influence on the society. Some people spend a lot of money on festivals to show
off. Festivals should be celebrated with simplicity. They should be celebrated to
promote national integration and communal harmony.
VALUE OF TREES
Trees are our life line. We cannot live anywhere on the earth without trees.
Mainly we get food energy from plant kingdom as well as household furniture,
medicines, herbs, and even oxygen. Trees are not only useful for mankind but
also useful for animal. Trees give refreshing effects to the eyes and mood. They
absorb carbon dioxide from environment and give fresh oxygen. Oxygen is
needed by all human and animals to live on the earth. Trees also help to make
environment pollution free. Trees prevent soil erosion, drought and floods. Man
has cut down trees in large number and he is cutting more and more trees. Man
must stop cutting more trees, otherwise he will suffer greatly. We should plant
trees often and tell the other people also to plant more and more trees.
All seasons come once in a cycle of one year. There are three important seasons in our
country - summer, winter, and the rainy season. December and January are the coolest
month and May and June are the hottest month of year. July and August brings
heavily rains. Each season has its pleasure and pain. In Pakistan, the months of
February and March are very pleasant. They bring happiness with many festivals. This
season is called ‘spring’. The season of spring I like the most. It is neither hot nor
cold. It is the season of greenery, flowers, fruits, and festivals. The wind blows in its
special way like playing with trees and having green leaves plants. It sings when
passes through branches and leaves of trees and plants. In this season I feel healthy
and fit. The nature looks charming and many kinds of beautiful flowers bloom during
this season. The lovely roses win our hearts. Bees are very busy during this season.
They move from one flower to another in search of honey. We see the beautiful
butterflies flying about. They catch the fancy of children. In short the beauties of
spring make us forget our cares and sorrows. We find lots of pleasant sights and
melodious notes during spring.
A bazaar is a busy and crowded place. Customers and carriages rub shoulders with
each other. We see many scenes in bazaar like, selling vegetables, fruits, garments,
and many stalls of fast food. There are big and small shops in the market. Colorful
display of the goods can be seen in market. People go there and buy the things.
Sometime we find some stalls also in the bazaar. They people who run their stalls
lay their selling goods on carts beside the road. Because of them the road becomes
narrow. The narrow road and crowd cause several accidents. Sometimes crowd
becomes over in the markets that enhances the activities of pick- pockets. The
police men are also found in the bazaar trying to regulate the traffic. On the whole,
it is a crowded place.
Life in a big city is a life of the heaven for the richest persons, who have ability to
afford anything. The big city promises job, facilities of higher education, medical
facilities, better society of educated persons, and many opportunities to make
carrier. There are high rise buildings, carpeted roads, cinema halls and leisure
clubs. Life is very fast. All these things attract people to live here instead of the life
of countryside. But the other side of the picture is not so pleasing. There is every
mean of comfort but not fresh air. Most of the big cities are polluted. The big city
has many facilities but it suits only to a fat purse. The poor people live in dirty
slums or on roadside. The dearness crosses limits. Middle class or lower class
hardly makes both ends meet. Facilities like education and medical are too
expensive to afford. In short, big city has all the attractions for the rich but for the
poor, a big city is a hell in spite of heaven.
I am too young as yet to know my own mind and choose my career. So many
things attract me. For example, I admire the Army officers in uniforms, the doctors
in white coats, the pilots who fly in the sky and the divers who explore the seas. I
like cricketers also for their brilliant game. But I know my likes and capabilities. I
have an artistic bent of mind. I love to draw pictures of natural scenes with birds
and beast. I use water colour on canvas. It is an expensive hobby like photography.
I don’t know if my means would permit me to become a painter or not but I will
continue my efforts. I will try to excel in this field and earn my name.
Work is the key to health, happiness and success in life. But over work is sure to
kill man as well as donkeys. Work is followed by rest and recreation. A hobby is
an activity that we take up for the sake of pleasure in free time. It refreshes us. My
hobby is reading and sketching. I read newspaper in the morning and some
magazine in the afternoon. I also like to read different sort of books. Reading
enriches my mind. It transforms me to the outer world. My imagination power
becomes strong. On weekends, I do some sketching. I even make portraits of
children and my parents. This creative work gives me great satisfaction. My
hobby breaks up routine and challenges me in new ways. My hobby unites me with
other people and things of the world. All my friends and family admire my hobby. I
am very happy with my hobby.
I shall not call that incident truly funny, but you will agree with me that a small
monkey making his way into my kitchen through the window bars can create a
mess. The entire family had gone to Lahore. We could never imagine that the small
space between the bars could let in a monkey. But facts are sometimes stranger
than fiction. In our absence, the monkey managed to push himself into the kitchen
but could not get out. He started breaking bottles of Jam and Ketch-up and Rooh
Afza. He broke China bowls. When we returned in the afternoon, we saw the mess.
The monkey made good his escape, and it took us two hours to clean and arrange
the things again.
Mobile phones are the gift of science to the modern word. Things which one lad
never thought about have become order of the day. Mobile phones have captured
the market. In fact expensive and latest hand set has become status symbol. On one
hand mobile phones can be very beneficial to trace about the whereabouts of a
person. In case of any kind of emergencies the news can be given. Mobile phone is
not only a blessing but also a curse. SMS messages and cameras lead to much
negative effect. Children like to spend more time playing games and chatting to
friends instead of doing sports. We should use mobile only when it is necessary
and not for the sake of using it.
It is said ‘that is the true friend who help in need’. A friend is a gift you give to
yourself. Friends are those people in your life with whom we do not have any blood
relation. It’s a relation of love and affection towards other people. Your friend is
someone with whom you feel comfortable and can easily share your thoughts and
feelings. You do not have to think twice when you are with your friends. A true friend
loves you unconditionally, understands you, but never judges you and always tries to
support you and give you good advice. This is fact that friendship is need of each
other. Mostly all have friends, but finding a true friend is a very difficult these days.
Most of people make friends for selfishness. Their target is in very selfish manner use
and throw. Most of people take it very seriously and they scarify themselves for
friendship. However they win and sometimes they are cheated. There is an idiom “The
real friend is identified in troubles”. In need the real and true friend always stands by
his/her and supports as best as he can do. So I believe that there is only one criterion
to find true friend “a friend in need is a friend indeed.”
Last week, I went to Murree with my parent. I was very crazy to visit Murree as I
had heard many things about this hill station. It is situated near Rawalpindi. We
travelled to Rawalpindi by train. It was morning when we reached Rawalpindi.
Here we stayed for 5 hours at our relative's home. After noon we decided to go to
Murree by private car. Soon, we reached in Murree. Really, we can say Murree is
paradise on the earth. We booked a room a hotel. It was evening when we went out
for wandering here to there. We visited Mall road and Kashmir point. After
walking two hours we came back to our room. We planed of visiting for next day.
We all were ready early in the morning. We took breakfast and went out for
Wildlife Park Murree. We found many wild animals there. Next day, we went to
Patriata. We enjoyed chairlift and took a bird eye view of Kashmir green hills. We
spent the next day at Ayubia. There were many hotels, resorts and public places
where we enjoyed very much. After spending our four days we came back to
Faisalabad.
A visit to zoo
A region of zoo is very interesting and pleasant. There are many kinds of animals
and their species. They all are kept in the same habitats as they live naturally.
Sometimes, there are many crowds of whom those come to see the zoo and its
animals. There are many cabins of wildlife in which they live with their pairs or
same species. Sometimes endemic species are kept for protecting them by
endangering but animals do not feel so comfortable than their natural habitat. They
play together like monkeys, cubs and deer. Aquatics animals are kept in water like
crocodiles, fishes and tortoises etc. over all a region of zoo is very interesting and
learning place where we can see all animal directly without any fear.
Street Beggar
A street beggar can be seen everywhere; at the bus stop, railway stations, religious
places, markets etc. Some beggars are crippled, lame and some are blind. They are
unable to earn their livelihood. Whereas some are healthy and do not deserve our
sympathy. They have made it a profession. We should see that they take up some
profession. They should not be allowed to beg. On my way to school I see a beggar
daily. He wears old rags. He is partially blind. I feel pity seeing him but I can't help
him in the way I should. I can only pray to God to help him to earn his livelihood
Hawker/ Shopkeeper
A shopkeeper is a person who sells goods on a shop in any market or anywhere else.
A hawker is a person who moves from one place to another and sell their goods, by
shouting on the streets. They work hard throughout the day. They move on the street
on their bicycle and sometimes on foot and sell their products. We can see hawkers
everywhere. They move everywhere selling their goods without caring about the
weather. There is a hawker who sells vegetables on his bicycle in our locality. He
brings fresh vegetables at a very reasonable price. He is a nice and an honest hawker.
Farmer
Pakistan is an agricultural country. Most of the people live in villages and are farmers.
They grow cereals, pulses, vegetables and fruits. The farmers lead a tough life. They
get up early in the morning and go to the fields. They stay and work on the farm late
till evening. The farmers usually live in mud houses. Though, they work hard but they
remain poor. Farmers eat simple food; wear simple clothes and rear animals like cows,
buffaloes and oxen. Without them there would be no cereals for us to eat. They play
an important role in the growth and economy of a country. In short we need food to
survive. A farmer grows food grains, vegetables, fruits and pulses. We get to eat food
because the farmer grows it for us. Therefore, a farmer plays a major role for the
benefit of the society
Endangered Animals
An endangered animal is one that is at risk of becoming extinct, which means it is no
longer in existence. Dinosaurs are the largest group of animals to have ever become
extinct, although the kinds of dinosaurs are quite diverse; others include; dodo birds,
mammoths, and even some species of tigers. Endangerment of animals is occurring
more often due to being threatened by environmental changes, the destruction of
habitat, the shortage of food supply, and being hunted. Unfortunately, many areas that
used to be home to a lot of animals have been turned into places where humans now
either live or go, such as a subdivision or shopping mall. Other animals are being
hunted by humans who are seeking money, not considering the long-term effects of
their actions. Fortunately, many laws are being enforced to help prevent complete
extinction of many species In order to best protect these animals, it is best to educate
those of the dangers.
Quaid e Azam
Quaid –e-Azam is our great leader. He is the founder of Pakistan. He was born in
Karachi on 25th December 1876. His real name was Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He got his early education from Karachi. He went to England for higher study. He
passed Bar-at-Law from London. He started his practice in Karachi. He was a very
good Lawyer. Quaid e Azam wanted to work for the freedom of his country. He
joined the Muslim League. He was a very hardworking and brave man. He worked
day and night to get a separate homeland for the Muslims. After his long struggle
Pakistan came into being on 14th August 1947.He became the first Governor General
of Pakistan. He died on 11th September 1948. His tomb is in Karachi. He lives in the
hearts of the nation.
A House on Fire
It was the month of May. It was very hot day. I heard a loud noise. I got up and ran
outside I saw that a house of my neighbour was on fire. The flames were rising to the
sky. Everyone feared that the fire would spread the whole locality. Many people were
running with buckets full of water and bags full of sand. They were throwing water on
the fire. Many men, women and children had gathered. Soon two fire-engineers
reached the spot. The firemen began to throw a lot of water with their pipes. They
entered the burning house. They helped the family to come out. Fortunately no one
was killed. It took the fire brigade about half an hour to control the fire. Luckily, there
was no loss of life. Whenever I am reminded of the scene, my heart begins to sink.
Life in a village is friendly, simple and easy. People in the villages can have more
scope for natural pastime which cannot be expected in the city life. The people of the
rich and middle class seem to be happy in the village. But the poor people often lead
miserable life. Life in a village is almost calm and quiet except some unwanted
incidents created by evil minded people. Most of the village people are easy going and
co-operative. One comes to other’s necessity. People in villages keep themselves busy
with works. Men look after the work outside and women perform their domestic work.
Fresh vegetables, fish, fruits, etc. are available and cheap in village. Though most of
the people in village lead a very simple life they are not to be away from enjoying
different cultural games like kabbadi and many other items of entertainment.
Generally, the celebrations are quite plain and simple. The village people lead the life
of plain living and high thinking. They think high, because they think in the terms of
God and religion. The village mosque maintains their social and moral upkeep. Most
of the village people get up from early in the morning and perform their work before
the sun sets. Village life is tranquil and enjoyable despite few problems. In short many
people prefer village life only for its healthier environment.

The players had some refreshments during the break. The game of the opposite team was
very strong but we also played very well. Their captain played very well. But at last we won
the match. All the students cheered. Both the teams were happy to play the match. It was a
memorable day.
For Cricket

Their batting was started. Their captain and his opening partner scored 68 runs but our
bowlers took their wickets. Their team couldn’t face our bowlers and was out at the score of
198 runs.)
Our team tried their best to score a goal but they could not succeed. The Captain of DPS hit the
ball and was likely to score a goal. But it was saved by our goal-keeper. The referee blew the
whistle. It was interval. After the interval, the match started again. Both the teams tried their best
to score goals. In the last minute of the game, our team captain scored a goal.
My Country
Pakistan is my country. Pakistan is an Islamic Republic and was formed in 1947. The
country was founded by Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the country was separated from
the subcontinent. Pakistan has 5 provinces. Pakistan is a democratic country which is
being run on the principles of Islam. Allah has bestowed many things to Pakistan for
example different seasons and abundant mineral resources. Pakistan is a nuclear
power with the 5th largest and powerful army in the world. The national language of
Pakistan is Urdu and there are many languages spoken in the country. Pakistan once
had one of the most burgeoning economies of the world, but now everything is going
towards utter devastation and destruction. May Allah bless Pakistan success and
prosperity. Ameen.
An Accident
Every day we find road accidents news in newspapers or tv channels. But we never
pay heed to them until we face one or witness one. Last Sunday I saw an accident. It is
still fresh in my mind. A child was trying to cross the road. A car came from the
opposite direction. The driver tried to save the child. But a bus, coming from the
opposite direction ran into the car. The driver of the bus had only minor injuries. The
car driver was seriously injured. People gathered there. Some passengers of the bus
also got light injuries. Some of them were bleeding profusely. Some went to inform
the police seriously injured persons were sent to hospital. Injured persons were given
first aid. The bus driver was arrested. It was a very bad accident. I shall not be able to
forget it for a long time.
A Morning Walk
A morning walk is a very useful exercise. It is a light exercise. It refreshes our body
and mind. In the morning Nature is at its best. A morning walk brings us in contact
with the beautiful surroundings of Nature. It gives us a great joy and also keeps us fit
and healthy. The green grass, the blossoming flowers, chirping birds, the fresh air, the
rising sun and morning dew - all provide us great joy and they fill our heart with
happiness. Morning walk is good for all. The old and the young, the healthy and the
weak, all should take a morning walk. Now-a-days we are to live a very fast life. We
are to work round the clock. We hardly have time to care for our health. If the habit of
morning walk is formed right from our early days, we can be sure of a sound body and
a sound mind.
Computer
The computer is one of the most brilliant gifts of science. This device was originally
developed by Charles Babbage. Most countries have developed fast due to
computerization. Speed, accuracy, reliability, and integrity are the main characteristics
of a computer. Many of the routine activities today at home and in business are done
by computers. The computer has proved a friend and servant of science, technology
and industry. Most offices, shops, factories and industries use computers. The Internet
is a storehouse of information. The computer is boon to all. Telecommunication and
satellite imageries are computer based. The most common computers are PCs They is
found in homes, school, and office throughout the world. The main parts of a PC are a
centre processor with its disk drives, keyboards monitor, printer and a scanner. They
have become important part of our lives. Computer has made the world a global
village.
A Village Fair
In our village a fair is held every year. It brings colour and joy. People in large
numbers come to see the fair. Throughout the day there is hustle and bustle, laughter
and merriment. The village is decorated with buntings and colourful flags. There are
hundreds of shops with things of necessity. There are small huts for sweetmeat, oil-
cakes and tea. The stalls of furniture, jewellery, or dresses are on show. Many
beautiful toys are also put up there. People move from one shop to the other.
Arrangements of some amusement are made within the compound of Village Fair.
Some swings are placed there. The children have the greatest fun. They move here and
there and buy balloons or eat sweetmeats. They enjoy rides the best. The merry-go-
round is the biggest attraction for them. In short in the dull and monotonous lives of
the village people, the fair is a pleasant diversion.
My School Peon
The name of my school peon is Mustafa. He is twenty- eight years old. He is tall and
healthy. He comes from a small village in Bihar. He is married. He lives in a small
room with his wife and children. He wears a khaki uniform. He comes to school one
hour before the regular school time. He cleans the Principal's room and the staff
office, and then he dusts the furniture in all the classrooms. He rings the bell after a
period is over. He carries the Principal's orders to the teachers. He also guides the
visitors to the school. He obeys and respects all the teachers. He helps them whenever
they want his help. His work is very hard. But he does all his work happily.
Traffic Rules play a very important role in the traffic system of a country. These rules
are made for avoiding traffic jams and accidents in cities and towns. Generally, traffic
rules are implemented by showing different colored light signals in the road like red
light, yellow light and green light. We have to stop our vehicles when the red light is
on and move our vehicles when the green light is on. Driving on the left side of the
road, using foot over bridge, following traffic signs, not to blow horns before a
hospital or a school etc are also included in the traffic rules. There are traffic polices
to supervise the rules. In short we all should follow traffic rules to maintain a sound
traffic system.
