Primary Distribution Mobile Substation

 INTRODUCTION
Ormazabal’s ORMACONTAINER Primary Distribution
mobile substations consist of a metal enclosure, containing
all the substation-related elements, including the Medium
Voltage cubicles, auxiliary service transformer, low voltage
distribution board, battery charger and other auxiliary
devices.

APPLICATIONS
Ormazabal’s ORMACONTAINER Primary Distribution
substations meet the needs of Medium Voltage electrical
distribution up to 36 kV, and are therefore recommended
for:
yy Power supply in emergency situations.
yy Replacing equipment during maintenance.
yy Seasonal increase in electricity requirements.
yy Turnkey delivery of substations with minimum lead times,
achieving the most rigorous standards of quality and
much shorter commissioning times.

INSTALLATION
Installation consists of little more than unloading with the
aid of the pneumatic system on the lorry transporting it,
opening up the access for the Medium Voltage cables and
connecting these cables.
To make the ORMACONTAINER ready for operation at
any time, a power point is located on the outside, so that
it can be connected to the low voltage network when not
in use. This means that the substation DC battery is always
available.

Low voltage enclosure, battery and remote control boxes

CPG.0 AND CPG.1 SINGLE AND ACCESS

ORMACONTAINER has separate access doors for people
DOUBLE BUSBAR CUBICLES and equipment.
Access for people is by means of a ladder equipped with a
Maximum RATED VALUES safety handrail, as well as supports to fix it in place during
transport. The ladder can be left down even when the door
24 kV - 2.000 A - 31,5 kA is closed.
36 kV - 2.000 A - 31,5 kA The equipment is taken in through the side by means of a
double-leaf door, equipped with a closing mechanism with
Medium Voltage cubicle characteristics: various fixing points.
yy Fully gas-insulation (GIS).
yy Solid, screened busbar.
yy Modularity.
yy Cables connected by means of standard elbow screw-in
terminal.
yy Vacuum circuit-breaker (class E2, M2).
yy Internal arc withstand in all MV compartments
(25 kA/1s - 31.5 kA/1s): IAC in accordance with
IEC 62271-200.
yy Integrated voltage detector, in accordance with standard
IEC 61243-5.
yy Routine tests conducted in the factory (including partial
discharges).

Access by equipment

Access by people
 INDOOR
The clearance space, one metre wide, allows the cubicles to
be walk-in type operated, and protects both personnel and
the switchgear against inclement weather.
For layouts with auxiliary service transformers, the
ORMACONTAINER divides into two rooms, one for the
cubicles and the other for the transformer, separated by a
metal door.
Access to the transformer room is locked by the protection
cubicle earthing switch, guaranteeing safety while  
maintenance work is carried out. Internal operational clearance and separation of rooms

CONNECTIONS
In order to simplify maintenance and commissioning
tasks, connection points have been provided between the
ORMACONTAINER and the outside:
yy Firstly, a power point provides quick, easy connection
to the substation low voltage network, ensuring the
ORMACONTAINER is ready to be commissioned at any
time.
yy The field signals (coming from the power transformer)
are directed into an enclosure, containing the connection
terminal blocks for these signals.
Centralised field signals
yy Four clips arranged in each bottom corner are used
for connection to the substation external earthing
network. Once inside, the earth is conducted via
copper cables with a large enough cross-section, up to
the internal perimeter ring located in the upper part of
the Ormacontainer, consisting of a bare copper
strip. All the metal parts are connected to the internal
ring, ensuring equipotentiality.
