Good afternoon everyone we are the group 1 presenters and we are going to discuss the Why and How

of school partnership and in this topic we will talk about the community do to schools and schools do for
community, the sociological basis of school-community partnership and legal bases for parents and
community involvement

So now let’s start first to ‘’what community do to school”

Okay now first let’s define what is community. So the community it is a group---------

And we can also say that it’s practicing common ownership and it is also a social values and
responsibilities. E.g of these are the stakeholders and barangay and our family.

And people in communities might go to the same things. They also help each other and solve problems
together. If it’s a bigger community, people in it might not always go to the same places, but they might
like or believe in same things or same interest.

Example here is all of us we are taking up education course so we have the same interest, we like
teaching and inspire students

The Community is very important in the school because community has resources that surround the
school

These can be—human resources-----now what are these.

So when we say human resources refer to the skills, talents, qualities and attitudes of the people living
in the community

Material resources- these are the man made things such as equipment, property and facilities which can
be used by the community anytime . we have our chairs, tables and many more.

Financial assests- monetary , income or cash resources the example of this is our tuition fees

Natural resources- refer to the physical environment of the community. Do we have natural resources
here in UC?

Social assests-the relationships, rules, established course of action, and practices that can serve as
instruments in attaining specific school goals in a given situation.

So community participation in school management has great potentials for removing mistrust and
distance between people and schools by nurturing transparency of information and a culture of mutual
respect and by jointly pursuing improvement of school by sharing vision, process and results.

And the community involvement foster partnerships among school, family and community groups and
inviduals. These partnership result in sharing and maximizing resources. And they help children and
youth develop healthy behaviors. And according to national education association when school and
communities work together to support education, student tend to earn higher grades. Attend school
more regularly, stay in school longer and enroll in higher level programs. And with theses important
benefits in mind, it’s clear that a focus on increasing community involvement programs and
opportunities should be a consistent goal for your school.

And now what can the community do to schools?

-Reduces school suspension rate- So in school there are many parents who complain about bullying or
violence in school that’s why a lot of students are being suspended and because of the School
counselors it helps the individual counseling to help students resolve personal or
interpersonal problems so in that way the suspension rate reduces. Okay so who is the
community there it is the guidance councelor.
