Detailed Lesson Plan in Science

Objectives: at the end of the lesson, learners will be able to:

a. Distinguish the characteristics of roundworms, flatworms and segmented

worms.
b. Describe how this organisms obtain energy; and
c. Cite the harmful effects of this phylum.

Subject matter: roundworms, flatworms and segmented worms

Reference: Science learners module 8

Materials: marker, Manila paper

Strategy: Collaboratrive, inductive

III. Procedure
Teachers activity Learners activity
a. Preliminaries
a. Prayer
b. Attendance
c. Review
Class we will have a game. If the
statement is true you will clap your
hands 5x and if the statement is false
you will stand and tell your seatmate
false.
Am I clear class? Yes, sir

S1. Cnidarians are coelenterates TRUE

S2. Polyps used cilia to move FALSE
S3. Cnidarians live in land FALSE
S4. Medusa is umbrella shape TRUE
S5. Cnidarians used sexual and TRUE
asexual reproduction

b. Developmental activity
a. Motivation
Class we will have An activity. I will
group you into 4 groups. Each group
will choose 5 representatives to be in
front. All they have to do is to match
column A with the column B.
Am I clear class? Yes, sir

b. Unlocking of difficulties
Class for the clarification of the word
meaning here are the definition of
terms.
ACOELOMATES- lack of fluid-filled
body cavity between the body wall and
digestive tract.
PSEUDOCOELOMATES- animals have
a pseudocoelom which is a fluid filled
body cavity.
COELOMATES- are the main body
cavity in most animals and is
positioned inside the body to surround
and contain the digestive tract and
other organs.
c. lesson proper
a. activity
class this time we will have another
activity. With the same group you are
given certain topic to be discussed.
Each group will choose representative Yes, sir
to present your output in front. I will
give you 5 minutes to do the task.

G1- round worms

G2- flat worms
G3- segmented worms
G4- harmful effects of worms

Times up. Post your output.

Group 1 reporting……
Very good. Give 5 claps
Group 2 reporting……
Awesome. Give 5 claps
Group 3 reporting…….
Expectacular. Give 5 claps
Group 4 reporting……
Excellent. Give 5 claps

b. Analysis
Describe the mode of reproduction in
phylum plathyhelminthes, nematode
and annelida? Sir
Yes___? This phylum undergoes sexual
reproduction. Some reproduce
asexually. But mostly are sexually.
That’s right.

How these organisms obtain energy? Sir

Yes___? Some worms are parasitic like flat
worms and round worms they will sip
blood that came from their host to get
energy, They can harm their host. But
some are beneficial like earthworms
they are decomposers which could
help especially plants.
Very good.
How this organism affects human? Sir
Yes____? They can cause disease and the make
humans sick.
That’s right.

c. Abstraction
What are the three worms? Sir
Yes____? Round worms, flat worms and
segmented worms.
Very good.
Who can differentiate? Sir
Yes____? Roundworms are bilateral symmetry,
flatworms are also bilateral and they
are flat and have thin bodies,
segmented worms are segmented body
or their bodies are sectioned and also
they are bilateral.
Very good.

d. Application
Class,we will have another activity.
With the same group all you have to
do is to list down the ways on how to
avoid/prevent those diseases or
sickness cause by worms. Write all
your all your answer in a 1 whole
sheet of paper. I will give you 5
minutes to do the task.
Am I clear class? Yes, sir

IV. Evaluation
In a ½ sheet of paper. Answer the
following question.
