Air Pollution

Environmental Issue
-Why air is polluted?
Identifying the Problem

Formulating Hypothesis
 “ If air pollution came from
greenhouse gases,smoke from
factories & automobile combustion,
then it may harm all living
organisms in the environment.”
Testing Hypothesis
3.1 Setup an experiment to test the hypothesis
A. Control setup consist of five monggo
plants,disposable plastic cup,same amount of
water, same type of soil, presence of light and
plastic cover.
B.Experimental setup consist of five monggo
plants,disposable plastic cup,same amount of
water,same type of soil,presence of
light,plastic cover & cigarette smoke.
3.2 Presenting the variables involve
in the experiment
A.Constant Variables - kind & size of
disposable cup used for
planting,number of monggo
seeds,amount of water needed,type
of soil, presence of light, type of plastic
cover
B.Independent Variable - the
presence of cigarette smoke in one of
the setup.
Gathering and Presenting
Data
Causes of air pollution
Anything people do that
involves burning things
(combustion) using
household or industrial
chemicals (substances that
cause chemical reaction and
may release toxic gasesin the
process) or producing large
amount of dust has the
potential to cause air
pollution.
pollution
Efect of air
 Air pollution can harm
the health of people
and animals,damage
crop or stop them
growing properly,
and make our world
unpleasant and
unattractive in a
variety in other
ways.
diferent scale
Air pollution work on
 Air pollution can happen
on every scale ,from
local to global.
Sometimes the effect are
immediate and happen
very near to the thing
that caused them; but
they can also happen
days ,months, or even
years later-and in the
other cities,countries, or
continents.
Top 5 kind of air pollution
 Any gases could qualify as pollution if it reached a
high enough concentration to do harm.
1. Sulfur Oxide: coal, petroleum, and the other fuels
are often impure and contain sulfur as well as
organic (carbon-based) compounds.Coal-fired
powerplants are the World’s biggest source of
sulfur-oxide air pollution, which contributes to
smog, acid rain, and health problems that
include lung disease.
2. Carbon Monoxide: this highly dangerous gas
forms when fuels have too little oxygen to
burn completely.
3.Carbon dioxide: this gas is
central to everyday life and isn’t
normally considered a pollutant.
However, carbon dioxide is also a
greenhouse gas released ny engines
and powerplants.
4.Nitrogen Oxide: nitrogen dioxide
and nitrogen oxide are pollutants
produced as an indirect result of
combustion, when nitrogen and
oxygen from the air react together.
That’s precisely why they’re used as
a solvents in many different
household chemicals such as
paints,waxes,and varnishes.

Analyzing data
There are top 5 of air pollution
sulfur oxide,carbon monoxide,
carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide,
volatile organic compounds
Or producing large amount of dust
has the potential to cause air
pollution. Air pollution can harm the
living organism make our world
unpleasant and unattractive in a
variety in other ways. Air pollution
can happen on every scale from local
to global. Sometimes,the effect are
immediate and happen very near to
the thing that caused them.
Conclusion

The health of the public, especially those

who are at tge most vulnerable, such as
children, the elderly and the sick, is at risk
from air pollution, but it is difficult to say
how large the risk is. …It is not sufficient to
wait for an episode of severe air pollution
and then try to deal with its effect.
