Lesson Plan in Mathematics 7

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students can:
1. Identify and apply the properties of equality
2. Find the solution of an equation involving one variable by algebraic procedure using
Multiplication or Division properties of equality.
3. Appreciate the concept of equality in real-life situation.
II. Subject Matter
A. Topic: Solving Equations Using Multiplication or Division
B. References: E-math Work text in Mathematics
C. C. Materials: board marker, chalk, printed materials

II. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity
A. Preliminary Activities
a. Prayer
Class please stand up and let us pray.
_______, lead the prayer.
b. Greetings
Good morning class!
c. Checking of Attendance
Class, may I know who is absent today?

B. Review
So now class, who can recall our lesson yesterday?

Okay, very good.

C. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation of Lesson
Our lesson for today is about solving equations using Multiplication or
subtraction.

PAK GANERN
Wr i t e PAK i f t h e g i v en so lu t i on i s co r r ec t , o th e rw ise w r i t e
GANERN .

1. 4x + 8 = 15 ; x = 5
2. 8x = 24 ; x = 4
3. 2x - 3 > 6 ; x = 3
4. 1 0x - 8 < - 1 ; x = -1
5. 6x - 8 = 3x - 2 ; x = 2

Using Multiplication or Division Property of Equality

Example 1: 5x = 35

6 x    26 Apply multiplication property. DPE
6
Multiply 6 both sides of the equation (MPE) x = -12

2. Application
F ind the value of x of the ff. linear equations. Match each equation in Column
A with its column B.

Column A Column B
1. 5x = 85 a. -7
2. 16 = d / 7 b. -1 / 4
3. a / -4 = -14 c. 17
4. -44b = 11 d. 2.3
5. c / 12 = -8 e. 56
6. -4.5e = 31.5 f. -96
g. 112

So class, do you have any question? Is it clear?

3. Generalization
Multiplication Property of Equality (MPE)
An equation involving a product of a variable and a number. It can solve a
multiplication equation by dividing.

Division Property of Equality (MPE)

An equation involving a quotient of a variable and a non-zero number. It can
solve a division equation by multiplying.

IV. Evaluation
Solve each equation. Check your solution.
1. 3a = 27
2. b / -5 = -13
3. d / 2 = 15
4. -4g = -20
5. -9h = 99
V. Assignment
Follow-up
1. Elen bought 4 pens priced at P7.90 each and 2 pens priced at P9.70 each. Find the
average price she paid per pens.
2. Ambet earned P837.50 for working with an hourly rate of P67.00. How many hours did
he work?

Advanced Assignment
1. Study and try to solve Multi-step equation using properties of equality.
