CONTENT STANDARD:
The learners demonstrate understanding of multiplication.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learners is able to apply multiplication in mathematical problems and real-life situations.
I. OBJECTIVES
Multiply 1-to-2 digit numbers without regrouping.
Compute the product of 1 number.
Show teamwork in solving number problems.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Multiplication without regroupings
Pre Requisite: Multiplication without regroupings
Reference: Math for Smart Learners 3 DIWA LEARNING TOWN
Materials: Flashcards, spin the wheel, flowers and base, problem written on cartolina
paper, PowerPoint presentation
Valuing: Teamwork
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY
A. PREPARATION ACTIVITY
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Attendance
4. Drill
(The teacher will show a flashcards then the
learners will answer)
Directions. Count the face and tell how many
heart are on the face.
- There is 1 face and 3 hearts
- There are 2 faces and 6 hearts
- There are 3 faces and 9 hearts
Very good class.
Let’s do a very good heart clap!
5. Review
Learners, before we start our lesson, does
anyone of you still remember the past
lesson?
- The last lesson is all about
What is the lesson last meeting? Subtraction.
Very Good!
Find the difference.
1. 39 2. 33 3. 123 - 1. 33
-7 - 32 - 11 - 2. 1
- 3. 111
4. 11 5. 98 - 4. 0
- 11 - 77 - 5. 11
. DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY
1. Motivation
(The Teacher will call the learners with a
partner to spin the wheel and help each
other to get the product).

- Spin the Wheel
What do you think is the name of the game
we played earlier?
Very Good! - We notice that the game is about
multiplication.
What did you notice about the game?
That’s great learners!
2. Presentation
The teacher will show a real object
Example 1.
I have 2 vases and each vase has 3 flowers on it.
The basic explanation of multiplication is adding a
number, with respect to another number,
repeatedly.
If we are multiplying 2 by 3, that means 3 is
added to itself two times,
i.e. 3 + 3 = 6
2x3=6 solution: 3
x 2
6
Example 2.
I have 3 vases and each vase has 2 flowers.
Again, class if we are multiplying 3 by 2, that
means 3 is added to itself two times
i.e. 2 + 2 + 2 = 6.
3x2=6 solution: 2
x3
6
3. Discussion
Multiplication does not need regrouping if
the product of the digits of the numbers
being multiplied is a one-digit number.
Example 1.
Find the product of 12 and 3.
Solution: 12 x 3 = __
We can solve the problem by following this
steps:
Step 1. Write the factors vertically. Write the
bigger number at the top, and the smaller
number at the bottom. Place the
multiplication symbol near the smaller
number.
Solution: 12
x 3
Step 2. Multiply 3 to each digit of 12, starting
from right to left.
Solution: 12
x 3
36
In multiplication the first number is what we
called multiplier, the second number is the
multiplicand, and the answer is called
product.
Solution: 12 - multiplicand
x 3 - multiplier
36 - product
What is the product of the number sentence
12 x 3?
Example 2.
3 x 21 = __
Again class what is the first step in
multiplication?
Very Good! - The product of the number
sentence 12 x 3 is equal to 36
You need to write the factors vertically. Write
the multiplicand at the top and the multiplier
at the bottom.
Multiply the multiplier to each digit of the - Write the factors vertically.
multiplicand, starting from the ones digit.
Solution: 21
x 3
63
4 . Generalization
What is our lesson for today?
How do you solve multiplication?
What do you call of the top number in
multiplication?
What do you call of the bottom number in
multiplication?
What do we call to the numbers that answer
in multiplication?
- Our lesson for today is multiplication.
Learners, Multiplication does not need
regrouping if the product of the digits of the - Answer may vary
numbers being multiplied is a one-digit
number. - The top number is multiplicand
5. Valuing - The bottom number is multiplier
Multiplication is use every day life whether
we are aware of it or not. It is important as a - The answer in multiplication is
basis for mathematical learning. product.
