PSA-RSSO 2 concludes 2-week training on Processing of Geo-tagged Buildings,


updating of Digitized Map and Enumeration Area Delineation/Merging

(PSA - RSSO 02) recently concluded
its 2-week training on Processing of
Geo-tagged buildings, updating of
Digitized Map and Enumeration Area
(EA) Delineation/Merging. The
rigorous training was held on June 3 -
15, 2019 at Crown Hotel, Ugac Sur,
Tuguegarao City.

Office along with Ms. Zenaida U.
Rivera, Statistical Specialist of
PSA RSSO II, and Ms. Cholly L.
Bayon, OIC- Chief Statistical
Specialist of PSA- Nueva Vizcaya
led the 2nd level training and acted
as trainers for the twenty-three
(23) Map Data Processors (MDP),
Five (5) Map Data Reviewers,
twenty-three (23) Map Data
Verifiers and one (1) Regional
Mapping Clerk (RMC). The
participants were hired by the agency for faster and efficient processing and updating
of digitized map and EA Delineation/Merging . Along with the participants the activity
was also joined by Regional Director Marilyn T. Estrada, PSA executive officials and
employees of the region and its 5 provincial offices.

AS Grande explained the importance of the project to the participants, he said that
their roles as processors, reviewers and verifiers are very significant in the success
of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH). “The office conducted an
integrated map updating activity to ensure the accuracy and reliability of EA maps
and Enumeration Area Reference File (EARF). Aside from that, the updating of
census map can also be used by the agency’s other activities such as household

agricultural and establishment based surveys, remote sensing activities and
environment-related activities,” Grande said. He further emphasized to take the
responsibilities given to them seriously in order to achieve a dependable data.

The participants experienced hands-on training of geographic information system


(GIS) application called QGIS and Google Earth PRO that supports viewing, editing,
and analysis of geospatial data. These applications will be responsible for the
processing of Geo-tagged building points, updating of layers for barangay
boundaries and road networks and delineation and Merging of EAs.

The activity will start on June 17, 2019 to November 2, 2019. It covers all barangays
in Cagayan Valley Region that are candidates for delineation and merging activities.
