Chapter Ⅰ Introduction

1.1 Urine Sediment Analyzer Overview

Developed and produced by DIRUI INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD., FUS-100 Urine Sediment
Analyzer is used for in vitro diagnosis. By connecting with DIRUI H-800 Automatic Urine
Analyzer, urinalysis workstation is formed. Routine urinalysis (Such as cells, bilirubin, WBCs,
glucose levels and urine specific gravity, turbidity) and urine visible component counting (Such as
cells, cast, crystal, etc.) can be conducted by the workstation.
In addition, FUS-100 Urine Sediment Analyzer can be used as an independent device, its result
can be combined with other urine analyzer test result.

1.2 Test Principle

FUS-100 Urine Sediment Analyzer adopts the flow microscopy imaging system. The sheath
packed sample flow into the system under the power of mechanical system which is composed of
specially made thin layer plate. The injector pump pushes the sheath into the flow cell which is
composed of thin layer plate. Under the effect of double layer sheath, urine sample enter into the
flow cell in the depth of single cell. Then images will be captured at high speed. The urine sample
will be discharged into wasted container after test, as figure shows:

Chapter Ⅶ Troubleshooting

Test sample when trouble exists may lead to inaccurate result.

If failure alarm is prompted during test, test must be carried out after failure is cleared.

This chapter is about the common failure and solution.

7.1 Main Unit Maintenance

7.1.1 Calibration Failed
1. Failure:
The value is not stable during calibration, fluctuates between 1300-1500.
2. Solution:
There are several solutions:
① The flow cell has been moved artificially. Adjust the flow cell position and the center. The user
can not uninstall the flow cell. It can only be moved by DIRUI maintenance personnel or the
operator trained by DIRUI engineer. Those untrained user uninstalling the flow cell will be
responsible for the result.
② If the calibration value is smaller than 800, mostly bubble exists in sample pump or sample
pump leaks. Check the leakage and replace the tubes. Check whether bubble exists in sample
pump if no leakage exists. Perfuse the liquid tubing if bubbles exist.
③ The concentration problem of the standard solution. The reason for that is the previous standard
solution concentration is too high, its following standard solution concentration is lower,
modification is neglected during sampling. Use the standard solution specified by DIRUI, its
storage should conform to the storage requirement of DIRUI.
7.1.2 Too Much Air Bubble
1. Failure
Software prompt “Too much bubble in sample or bloody urine”
2. Solution
Take down testing sample, let the probe aspirate air, the tube length inserted into the photocoupler
should be air. Use the smallest straight screw driver to adjust RP3 potentiometer, use multimeter to
adjust to Voltage and test the voltage of RP3 potentiometer, adjust the voltage value to
2.95V±0.5V.
Note:
The tube length inserted into the photocoupler is set to test the probe air or bloody urine during
test. Unplug the tube length, the probe will not test air and bloody urine, the software will not
prompt alarm. This position should be dealt with caution during maintenance.
7.1.3 M5、M4、M3 Motor Error
1.Failure

46
Service Manual of FUS-100 Urine Sediment Analyzer

“M5 Motor Zero Position Optocoupler Error” or “M4 Motor Zero Position Optocoupler Error” or
“M3 Motor Zero Position Optocoupler Error” is prompted during software test.
2. Solution
Dust may accumulated in the instrument after long time using. Alarm will be prompted, wipe the
optocoupler with cotton cloth in this condition. If the same optocoupler is wiped for continuous 2
times, contact the after-sale service personnel at the 2nd time.
Note: reset is needed after wiping.
7.1.4 Electric Level Error
1.Failure
“Vertical motor electric error”or “Horizontal motor electric error” is prompted during test.
2. Solution
Power cord YJ1 or TJ1 of sampling system may be touched during packaging, transportation or
debugging. Replug YJ1 into TJ1.

7.2 Mechanical System Maintenance

7.2.1 Counter in Sample Carrier
1.Failure
① Counter error during test, for example: two test tube racks have passed, but the counter display
less than 2 or more than 2 test tube racks.
② The first test tube rack enters into test area during test, alarm is prompted, the test tube rack is
not in place is displayed.
③ The test tube rack is removed displayed during test.
2. Solution
⑴There are 2 solutions for Failure ①:
ⅠArtificial operation error, no test tube rack on sample carrier, during artificial operation, the
system will prompt counter error, click reset in operation software.
ⅡMicro switch damage or position error of micro switch, conducted reset, touch the lever in front
of micro switch, imitate test tube rack passing through artificially to check the counter, it the value
is correct, the micro switch is not damaged, the reason may be the micro switch position is
incorrect, it should be adjusted. Let the micro switch touch the lever at free condition, and conduct
reset.
⑵ Failure ② is the position problem of micro switch, adjust the position of micro switch, conduct
reset.
⑶ Failure③ is artificial problem, take the test tube rack down along the moving direction,
conduct reset.
Note:
If the lever is not lifted, the lever may be rusted, uninstall the lever assembly, wipe it with alcohol.
Reset is needed after above failures solved.

47
Service Manual of FUS-100 Urine Sediment Analyzer

7.3 Optical System Maintenance

7.3.1 Focus Motor
1.Failure
Focus is needed if the FUS-100 Urine Sediment Analyzer has not been used for a long time. Focus
motor error is prompted.
2. Solution
Check the slipway in front of focus motor. Sludge or rust may occur. Move push and pull the
slipway for several times until it can move back automatically.
Note:
As the optical system is sophisticated component, no rust, liquid spill or impurity is allowed on the
slipway, keep the surface clean.
7.3.2 Focus Failure
1.Failure
The system prompts “Focus Failed”
2. Solution
① Adjust grey value, adjust the power voltage of floodlight. The light will be bright when the
voltage is turned up. The light will be dark when the voltage is turned down.
② Focus motor zero position optocoupler position, adjust the focus to the running line. The detail
adjustment method will be trained by optical engineer.
③ Focus concentration is too low, replace focus.
7.3.3 Optical Fiber Sensor Error
1.Failure
“Optical fiber sensor error” is prompted during test.
2. Solution
Under normal condition, the red indicator on the optical fiber sensor is not lighted when no tube
passing through. If it is lighted, the indicator is abnormal. Dust may exists on reflective mirror
which is at the opposite side of optical fiber sensor, remove the dust. Or maybe the bad connection
between the probehead of optical fiber sensor and sensor port. Use specified scissors to recut and
insert it(it must be conducted by or under the guidance of DIRUI professional, otherwise ,the user
will be responsible for the result).
Readjust the optical fiber sensor value if failure is not solved by above solution:
Place the test tube with water(4/5 of the tube) in the test tube rack. Push the test tube rack into the
sample collecting area, place the test tube at the position of probe sampling to check the optical
fiber sensor value, record the value, and push back the rack, record the value again, plus the two
value and divided by 2, this value will be the set value for optical fiber sensor. Press “△”or“▽”on
optical fiber sensor(these is used to adjust the value). When the screen flashes, press “△”or“▽”
longer to adjust the value. The optical sensor counter will recover to working status after certain
times button releasing.
Note: the test tube used in test must be glass test tube.

7.4 Liquid Tubing System Maintenance

48
Service Manual of FUS-100 Urine Sediment Analyzer

7.4.1 Sheath Insufficient Alarm

1.Failure
“Sheath Insufficient” is prompted.
2. Solution
① If the alarm is prompted at the first time liquid tubing fill, click “OK”to perfuse tubing.
② If it is not the first time, the following solutions are offered:
ⅠLiquid level sensor failure, use multimeter to check the wire connection and whether the float in
liquid level sensor is blocked, conduct adjustment according to the test result.
ⅡBubble exists in sheath, the reason for that is the misoperation of the user: replace sheath during
sheath filling, or the sheath leve is lower than the tubing. The alarm can be neglected at this
condition, click “OK” to continue.
Ⅲ Impurity exists in diaphragm pump P4, replace or maintain(open it and remove the impurity) it.
Note:
Diaphragm pump P4 can only be maintained by DIRUI personnel or returned to the manufacturer.

7.4.2 Waste Tubing Block

1.Failure
“Waste Tubing Block” is prompted
2. Solution
Check the outer waste liquid tubing connection, whether liquid tubing is squeezed;
Open the instrument cover to check whether liquid exists in waste chamber, if it does, P2
diaphragm pump is still working, the waste has not been discharged, suggesting P2 diaphragm
pump is blocked, replace or maintain it; if it doesn’t, pour water into waste chamber, if it is
discharged smoothly, liquid level sensor probe short circuit may occur, the two probes may get
close to each other, or the probe touch the waste chamber wall, separate the probe artificially at
this condition. Or liquid in liquid level sensor spill occur, leading to short circuit, wipe it with
alcohol to solve the problem.
7.4.3 Syringe Pump Make Sound

Emargination
major grove
ball bearing
F604

49
Service Manual of FUS-100 Urine Sediment Analyzer

1.Failure
For the long working period of the instrument, the 3 syringe pump at the back may make sound

during test.

2. Solution
Take down the emargination major grove ball bearing.

7.4.4 Small Value

1.Failure
The test value is quite small during test.
2. Solution
Insufficient sample volume leading to air aspiration, or the sample pump did not push the liquid
into the flow cell , or the pushed volume is insufficient. If it is the former one, add more sample, if
it is the latter one, check the 1.5 ml sample pump, or tighten the connections, replace the damaged
connectors, or replace the damaged syringe pump.
7.4.5 Air Pump Keep on Working
1.Failure
Under standby(or during work), P1 air pump is discontinuit working, P1 air pump begin to work
when the air pressure is lower than 0.1KPa, it stop working when the air pressure is higher than
0.1KPa, the air pump keep on working and the P1 pump motor is hot.
2. Solution
The reason for above failure is P1 air pump loop leakage exists, check the loop to find the leakage.

7.5 Software System Maintenance

7.5.1 Installation(FUS100 connect with H800)
1.Failure
When connecting FUS-100 and H-800, the system prompts “Please set correct dry chemistry
connecting agreement”.
3. Solution
Enter in to manufacturer password of H-800(password is 122), set GLV2 to be 0002, save after set
and connect, if “Please set correct dry chemistry connecting agreement” is still prompted,
suggesting H-800 program is old version, upgrading is needed.
Note:
If the failure is not solved by above solution, contact R&D dept.
