PERSONAL ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPETENCIES AND ENVIRONMENT AND MARKET
TOPIC 1: Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the dimensions and characteristics of
PECs.
Performance Standard: The learners independently recommend specific strategies to improve weak
areas and sustain strong areas in their PECs.
Transfer Goal: Learners on their own and in the long run will be able to endorse strategies to improve
one’s weak areas and sustain strong areas in their dimension of PECs when putting up own business.

INTRODUCTION AND FOCUS QUESTION(S):


What are PECs and the three clusters? How is the different characteristics of each clusters
contribute to become a successful food entrepreneur?
Putting up a food business venture is challenging but enjoyable and rewarding, too. However,
before embarking on the food business, one should be equipped with the essential traits and
competencies of a successful food entrepreneur so that all the challenges along the way can be overcome
easily.
This lesson is about developing one’s PECs in business, such as cookery. Students are guided to
assess their potentials to determine whether or not they can succeed in the food industry. This way, one
can be prepared to contribute to the welfare and progress of his family, community, and the whole
country.

To begin with, let us first try to find out the competencies you will master as you finish this
module.
