March 11, 2019 Saturday, 13:00 — 15:00 Hrs

Time: 2 Hours, Maximum Marks: 25 Instructor: Dr. Shivendra Shivani

Note: 1. Attempt all parts of a question sequentially at one place.

2. If any data is found missing, assume it within valid range.

Ql. a) What is Augmented Reality? Explain its various types with examples. (3)
b) Explain major applications of Augmented Reality. (2)

c) Explain the process loop of the AR with diagram. (3)

Q2. a) Discuss various See-through displays with diagram. (2)

b) Define Registration, Calibration and Tracking and their significance in AR. (3)

Q3. Write the various components of display coordinate system in AR. Draw and explain the
spatial relationship diagram for the handheld device based AR. (2)

Q4. a) Write the name of the techniques which are used for navigation and position
localization in case of known Time of Flight and Angle of Arrival respectively. (1)

b) Nitin wants to do indoor navigation using two preinstalled wifi access points WI and
W2. If WI and W2 are c meter far to each other and make angle a and (3 with the Nitin's
handheld device then derive the formula for measuring the distance between Nitin's
position and both the access points WI and W2. Also find out the smallest distance
between handheld device and line joining between WI and W2. (2)

c) Ravi is trying to build a game like Pokemon-Go. He has augmented three virtual
objects "House", "Tree" and "Boat" in 3D space associated with the surfaces Sl, S2 and
S3 respectively. All three objects have the overlapping coordinate (50,20), and plane
equation coefficients for surfaces 51, S2 and S3 are as follows:
(A1,BI,CI,D1)=(-1,-2,5,10)
(A2,B2,C2,D2)=(-2,3,2,6)
(A3,B3,C3,D3)=(-1,2,2,-20)
Determine which object will be rendered and which will be occluded? (2)

Q5. Write short notes on the followings:

a) Aberration and Vision Correction
b) AR headsets
c) Virtual World
d) Degree of Freedom
e) VR Cinematography
