Teaching Guide - Functions
I. Introduction
Recalling the functions.
Functions- is a relation where each element in the domain is related to only one
value in the range.
Identify the kinds of function (rational, inverse, exponential, and logarithmic)
1
1. 𝑓(𝑥) = (Rational Function)
𝑥−2
1
2. 𝑓 −1 (𝑥) = 𝑥 − 2 (Inverse Function)
3
𝑥
3. 𝑓(𝑥) = 3 (Exponential Function)
4. log7 343= y (Logarithmic Function)
II. Motivation
Identify and evaluate the functions.
III. Instruction/ Delivery
Problem solving
Example # 1: An object is to travel a distance of 10 meters. Express velocity (v)
as a function v(t) of travel time t, in seconds. What is the velocity if the time is 20
seconds?
Example # 2: You are buying imported books from USA. As a result, you need
to mail the payment. Recently the exchange rate was 1.00 to ₱44.00.
a. Complete the table by converting US dollar into pesos.
1 5 10 50 100
₱
b. Let p represent the number of Philippine pesos and d represents the number
of US dollars. Write an equation for the function that has the number of US
dollars as input and the number of Philippine pesos as output.
c. Write an equation that converts pesos into dollars using the equation in (b).
d. What will be the conversion of ₱4, 356.00 into dollars considering the above
condition?
