To Whom it May Concern,

As a member of the Graduate Teacher Certification program at Grand Valley State University, I am strongly

interested in the opening you have for an English Language Arts (ELA) teacher. I believe that I have the qualifications

necessary to be a successful teacher. I believe that my experience with students, as well as skills learned in previous

career fields, make me a highly qualified candidate for this position.

I have experience working with students in a middle school, teaching ELA. I spent my student teaching

working in a 7th grade ELA classroom in the Kenowa Hills School District. It was here that I was mentored in becoming

an effective teacher. It was also here that I began my Project Based Learning (PBL) journey. This journey has led to me

learning how to effectively teach while allowing for my students to have a say in their own learning.

Additionally, I have experience with coaching students. This has taught me the importance of team building

which can be used to create a cohesive, positive learning environment. My resume also reflects work experience

outside of education that includes problem solving, leadership, collaboration and communication skills.

I believe that my diverse background can be used as an asset in the classroom. I have been in supervisor roles

where I learned management skills that can be transferred over into the classroom. Additionally, I have been in

positions where I have had to be responsible for the care of another. This role taught me how to care for others who

have different needs. Regardless of the field, I have learned many skills along the way that make me a strong candidate

for the position.

Attached, you will find a detailed resume listing my qualifications for the position. Please do not hesitate to

reach out if you have any further questions regarding my experience. I can be reached by phone at 989-370-6692.

Additionally, I can be reached by email at brawnerj@mail.gvsu.edu. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your consideration.

Respectfully,

Jannelle Brawner_____
