3. Demonstrate awareness on the dangers of alcoholism through a slogan presentation.

“Alcohol is one of the most common substance that is being
abused by the human beings. But little do these people know
that too much alcohol consumption could lead to damage to
the body systems.”

So today we are going to learn about what is Alcohol (students will listen)
specifically the Alcohol Beverages.

I. Introduction and Types of Alcohol


a. Alcohol – colorless, bitter-tasting liquid
that is consumed and/or used either as
beverage or medicine.
b. It comes from plants that underwent
fermentation. Fermentation is the process
of extracting alcohol from a plant or a
fruit.
c. Isopropyl Alcohol is rubbing alcohol.
d. Methanol is a form of alcohol used in paint
thinners, varnishes, and shellac.
e. Ethyl Alcohol or Ethanol is a form of alcohol
found in beverages.

II. Health Effects


When alcohol enters the bloodstream, it
goes in all the parts of the body. The main effect
of alcohol drinking reflects on a person’s central
nervous system (CNS). The CNS control’s one’s
mental processes, memory, speech, learning and
decision-making. It also affects a person’s senses,
feelings, movement and breathing.

a. Short-term Effects
 Intoxication – physical and mental
changes that the body is
experiencing upon consuming
alcohol.
 Hangover – physical effects that
give discomfort to humans who
consumed alcohol.
b. Long-term Effects
 Cirrhosis – condition when the liver
is “scarred” due to heavy alcohol
consumption.
 Alcoholism – condition when a
person heavily consumes alcohol
consistently.

different language (Bicol, Tagalog, English). For us to be
fair let’s have draw-lots of the language to be used.
I’ll provide the materials for your activity.
