DETAILED LESSON PLAN

HEALTH

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to;
a.) identify the strategies in prevention and control of cigarette smoking and
drinking alcohol
b.) make a poster which depicts the cause and effect of cigarette and alcohol
used; and
c.) appreciate the importance of health alternatives to promote healthy
lifestyle.

A. Motivation

Class, do you know somebody who loves to


smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol? Why do you
think they can’t live without cigarettes and
alcohol? Cigarettes and alcohol are legal drugs that
everybody at any age might use. Many young
individuals are desperate to try new things, and
since these gateway drugs are accepted in our
society, smoking cigarettes and alcoholic
beverages are always available in any store that
anyone can purchase and which might lead
him/her to do more dangerous drugs like
marijuana and shabu.
This time let’s have an activity. This activity is
called “3 PICS WHAT’S NEXT”. I will be
presenting you five sets of pictures wherein the
first three pictures are revealed but the fourth
one is unknown. You have to identify the
conclusion of the missing picture by basing your
answers from the situation presented in the given
pictures.

Are you ready class?

Situation 1. William started to smoke at an early


age. When he became a business, he was still
addicted to cigarettes. Eventually he settled in a
serious relationship and had a family of his own
but he is still not quitting from his vices after so William obtains serious complications due to
many years. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? his unhealthy lifestyle.

Situation 2. Max had a problem with his


finances. To cope up with stress, he calls his
friends and invites them to drink at the local bar.
After drinking bottles of beer, Max begins to
babble about his problems then he becomes mad
after hearing one of his friend’s comments.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
They ended up fighting with each other.
Situation 3. There is this man who loves to drink
with his friends. One time he got sick and find
out that he has a stage 1 liver cancer. WHAT
HAPPENS NEXT?
A man quits from drinking alcohol and starts a
healthy lifestyle.

Situation 4. Ana has been smoking at the age of


15. She is sexually active as well until she got
pregnant by his present boyfriend. She is still
smoking while carrying her 6 months old baby.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? She gave birth to a baby with birth defect and
unhealthy.
Situation 5. Chloe always wanted her dad to
refrain from smoking. Jansen started now to
smoke outside to hide from his nagging child.
Chloe learned a lesson from their school about
the negative effects of smoking. WHAT
HAPPENS NEXT? Jansen decides to stop smoking one day until
he completely breaks from the addiction.

Class, these are the objectives of today’s lesson.

Alcohol and cigarretes are called gateway drugs.


What comes into your mind when you hear the
word gateway drugs?
Gateway drugs are habit-forming drugs that
may lead to the use of other addictive drugs.
Gateway drugs open doors for a non-drug user
to try and experiment on more dangerous and
illegal drugs so, don’t use any of it because it is
very dangerous in your health.

Yes that’s right, Gateway drugs are legal drugs


that can be accessed and can be used by
everyone at any age through the local store like
cigarettes and consumable alcohol.

burden and 17.5% say they drink to be happy
and gain pleasure.

may use alcohol and tobacco according to their
age, gender and ethnicity but it may lead to
major health problems and contribute to a
traumatic death and injury.

can use to prevent and control cigarette smoking
