PROJECTILE MOTION WORKSHEET
Solve the following problems.
1. An object is projected from the ground with an initial velocity of 55.6 m/s at 30° above the
horizontal. Find the (a) horizontal and vertical components of its initial velocity, (b) time to
reach the maximum height, (c) time of flight, (d) maximum height attained by the object, (e)
speed at the maximum height, (f) range, and the (g) velocity upon striking the ground.
2. An object is projected at 24.5 m/s, 60° above the horizontal. Find the (a) time of flight, (b)
range, and (c) maximum height.
3. John kicks the ball and ball do projectile motion with an angle of 53º to horizontal. Its initial
velocity is 10 m/s, find the maximum height it can reach, horizontal displacement and total
time required for this motion.
4. A golf ball was struck from the first tee at Lunar Golf and Country Club. It was given a
velocity of 50 m/s at an angle of 42 ° to the horizontal. On the moon the acceleration due to
gravity is 1.6 m/s2.
A. What are the vertical and horizontal components of the ball’s initial velocity?
B. For what interval of time is the ball in flight?
C. How far will the ball travel horizontally?
5. A marble rolls off horizontally from the edge of a tabletop 1.50 m above the floor. It strikes the
floor 2.0 m from the base of the table.
A. How long does it take the marble to reach the floor?
B. What is its initial speed?
