1.4 PREREQUISITES......................................................................................................6
1 INTRODUCTION
1.1.1 This operating procedure outlines normal activities required to execute the task and
actions to be taken in the event of abnormal situations that may arise during the
execution of the task.
1.1.2 The task is to prepare pipeline receiver barrel for pigging operation, retrieval of pig from
the receiver barrel and recording of debris and pig condition.
1.2 SCOPE
1.3 OP CATEGORY
1.4 PREREQUISITES
1.4.1 MCOT to be informed minimum 24 hrs prior to pigging operation for necessary work
planning and preparation of receiving facilities.
1.4.2 Metering system to be on bypass to prevent damage due to pigging debris.
1.4.3 Communication is established with BA CCR
1.4.4 Communication is established between area operator and panel man.
1.5 LIMITATIONS
1.5.1 Pigging operations on the two incoming crude lines from offshore WLP-A 18” and BAP-
AA 16” pipelines to be carried out separately. This is to minimize risk to MCOT should
problems arise and affect fields production.
Hazards and The table below lists job hazards and the precautions that should be taken for
precautions safety, environmental, quality, ergonomics, Good Manufacturing Practices,
etcK before beginning this procedure.
Hazard Precaution
Pressure Do not stand in front of receiver door closure
when opening receiver door and retrieval of
pig.
Do not over pressurize close drain system
Flammable No Hot Work within vicinity during pig
retrieval.
Chemical/Toxic Avoid crude oil contact with skin.
Waste Pigging debris to be labeled properly as per
schedule waste requirement.
Loss of Containment Bleed off pressure to atmospheric vent slowly
to prevent liquid carryover.
Others Avoid retrieving pig during night time
PPE required The following Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE) must be used to do this
activity in addition to common PPEs. List any special PPEs required,
PPE Use
Tools and The tools and equipment listed below are needed to do this job. List any
Equipment special tools required in addition to hand tools.
Tools and/or Equipment Use
Pressure gauges Calibrated pressure gauges 2 pieces 0-20
barg
Receiver door seal One set seal spare required
Extended hook Extract pig out from barrel
Schedule waste container Storage and disposal of pigging waste
Weighing Scale Measure weight of waste collected
Portable trolley Handling of pig
Rag and degreaser House keeping
ESD / ABV-9250

2 PROCEDURE
2.1.3 Set pig indicator to ON position to detect pig arrival: Area operator
st
1 pig signal XI-9253 upstream of MOV 9254
2nd pig signal XI-9255 downstream of MOV 9254
NOTE:
• Two pressure gauges PI-9255 and PI-9256 at receiver to counter
check pressure readings.
• Drain line spectacle blind in closed position, to prevent leakage
from “live” system to drain system in the event of drain valves
leak.
2.1.4 Open both 2” equalizing valves on the receiver outlet line to pressurize Area operator
receiver slowly to pipeline pressure.
2.1.5 Open receiver outlet 6” VB valves to divert flow to manifold header via Area operator
receiver barrel.
2.1.6 Open receiver inlet MOV 9253 and MOV 9254. Area operator
2.1.7 Close slowly receiver 12” VB valve on the main line. Monitor pipeline Area operator
pressure not to exceed high pressure alarm PAH-9252 set 7.5 barg (110
psig).
CAUTION:
RECEIVER 12”VB SHOULD NOT BE IN PARTIAL OPEN/CLOSE
POSITION AS IT WILL DAMAGE THE VALVE.
NOTE:
Refer Appendix A, item 1.2, Table 2: 16” BA incoming line valves
configuration receiving mode.
NOTE :
Obtain pig details:
a) Pig type and condition
b) Dimension
c) Travelling time
d) Flow rate
e) Expected time arrival
2.1.9 Monitor BA pipeline pressures, flow rate through CCR as per SOL in 1.7. Panel man 2
2.1.10 Notify MCOT Shift operation supervisor and Baram OS on any flow and Panel man 2 /
pressure abnormalities for further intervention and way forward as per BA OS /
SOL in 1.7. Operation
Special procedures by SKO pipe line team need to be prepared to supervisor
address anomalies such as stuck pig, high back pressures. Procedure to
be approved by Technical Authority.
NOTE:
• 6” valve may not be able to cope with incoming flow
CAUTION:
ENSURE 12” VB VALVE FULLY CLOSED PRIOR TO PIG ARRIVAL TO
PREVENT PIG STUCK AT T-BAR
2.1.11 Monitor pig signal activation, indicating arrival of pig at receiver. Area operator
2.2.3 Fully open pig receiver 12” VB valve. Observe pressure upstream of valve Area operator
2.2.4 Close receiver outlet two 6”VB valves to manifold, receiver inlet MOV 9254 Area operator
and MOV 9253 valves. Observe receiver barrel pressure and pipeline
pressure upstream of valves.
2.2.5 Normalize Baram NOC in 4hours after step 2.2.3. Area operator
2.2.7 Open both atmospheric vent 2” VB valves to depressurize receiver. Area operator
CAUTION:
1. BLEED OFF PRESSURE TO ATMOSPHERIC VENT SLOWLY TO
PREVENT LIQUID CARRYOVER.
2. DO NOT PRESSURIZE CLOSE DRAIN SYSTEM.
2.2.11 Open closure door vent plug to bleed off any trap pressure in front of pig. Area operator
WARNING:
SUDDEN OPENING OF THE RECEIVER CAUSED BY PRESSURE
RELEASE MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY
2.2.12 Confirm receiver liquid totally drained. Slowly open receiver closure door, Area operator
remove pig and pigging debris from barrel.
NOTE:
Extended hook to pull pig out from barrel.
Check pig condition, record wear/damage and other observations.
2.2.14 Clean inside of receiver barrel. Check receiver closure door seal, replace if Area operator
damaged.
2.2.15 Close and secure receiver closure door and close vent plug. Area operator
2.2.18 Check all receiver valves positions indication in CCR and the field are the Panel man 2/
same and drain lines spectacle blinds in close position as per Appendix A, Area operator
item 1.1, Table 1.
2.3.1 Collect sample for analysis and label as follows: Area operator
1. Sample Name / Lab
technician
2. Date and time
3. Line Identification
4. Total weight
5. Name of sampler
6. Activity
2.3.2 Transfer all solid debris into a schedule waste drum, label and document as Area operator
per schedule waste requirement.
NOTE:
• Pigging debris is categorized as schedule waste.
• Record weight of debris collected.
2.3.3 Carry out housekeeping at receiving station and log completion of pigging Area operator
activities.
2.3.4 Input pigging data into Pipeline pigging and internal corrosion monitoring Area operator
system (PPICMS).
NOTE:
Refer Appendix A, item 2.2, Figure 2: Pipeline pigging and internal
corrosion monitoring system (PPICMS)
2.4.1 In event pipeline pressure exceeds alarm PAH-9252 set at 7.5 barg BA OS / Shift
(110psig): Operation
1. Crack open receiver 12”VB valve. supervisor /
2.4.2 In event pig stuck in pipeline, inform BA CCR for immediate action. BA OS / Shift
Operation
supervisor /
TM
NOTE:
• ABV-9250 may close due to:
1. Pressure HH
2. Pressure LL
3. Loss of instrument air
4. Manual PSD initiated
5. ESD
NOTE:
Pressure low due to:
1. BA shutdown
2. Sub-sea pipe leakage
