1.3 OP CATEGORY................................................................................................................. 6
1 INTRODUCTION
1.1.1 This operating procedure outlines normal activities required to execute the task and
actions to be taken in event of abnormal situations that may arise during the
execution of the task.
1.1.2 The task is to prepare pipeline receiver barrel for pigging operation, retrieval of pig
from the receiver barrel, recording debris and pig condition.
1.2 SCOPE
1.3 OP CATEGORY
1.4 PREREQUISITES
1.4.1 MCOT to be informed minimum 24 hrs prior to pigging operation for necessary
work planning and preparation of receiving facilities.
1.4.2 Establish communication with WL.
1.5 LIMITATIONS
1.5.1 Pigging operations on the two incoming crude lines from offshore WLP-A 18” and
BAP-AA 16” pipelines to be carried out separately. This is to minimize risk to
MCOT in event problem encountered and fields production affected.
PPE required The following Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE) must be used to do this
activity in addition to common PPEs. List any special PPEs required,
PPE Use
Tools and The tools and equipment listed below are needed to do this job. List any
Equipment special tools required in addition to hand tools.
Tools and/or Equipment Use
Open end/ ring spanner Opening of closure door bolt, vent port
18” WL crude PZALL- • Beach valve ABV-9230 will be closed. Refer to procedure
trunkline 9231 • Offshore oil producing platforms at WL trip on 2.4.3
1.38 high pressure cut.
18” WL crude PZAHH- • Beach valve ABV-9230 will be closed. Refer to procedure
trunkline 9231 9.3 • Offshore oil producing platforms at WL trip on 2.4.3

2 PROCEDURE
2.1.1 Check receiver readiness prior to pigging operation as per Appendix A, Area operator
item 1.1, Table 1: Receiver readiness prior of pigging operation checklist
• Refer to figure 2: 18” WL incoming line receiver 20” R-9230
2.1.2 Ensure receiver line-up properly prior launching pig. Area Operator
Refer Appendix A, item 1.2, Table 2: WL 18” incoming line valves
configuration receiving mode.
• Refer to Appendix A, item 2.1, Figure 1: 18” WL incoming line receiver:
20” R-9230
2.1.3 Ensure receiver closure door is fully close and safety bleed plug close. Area operator
2.1.4 Set pig signal is in ON position to detect pig arrival: Area operator
• 1st pig signal alert X1-9232 upstream of MOV 9233
• 2nd pig signal alert X1-9231 downstream of MOV 9234
NOTE:
• Two pressures gauges at receiver to counter check pressure readings.
• Drain line spectacle blind in closed position, to prevent leakage from
“live” system to drain system in event drain valves leak.
2.1.5 Open both 2” equalizing valves on the receiver outlet line to pressurize Area operator
receiver slowly to pipeline pressure.
2.1.6 Open receiver inlet MOV 9233 followed by MOV 9234 valves. Area operator
2.1.7 Open slowly the two receiver outlet valves to divert flow to manifold header Area operator
via receiver barrel.
2.1.8 Close slowly receiver bypass 18” VB valve. Monitor pipeline pressure not to Area operator
exceed high pressure alarm PAH-9232 set 8.0 barg (116 psig) / Panel man 2
CAUTION:
RECEIVER BY PASS 18”VB VALVE SHOULD NOT BE IN PARTIAL
OPEN/CLOSE POSITION AS IT WILL DAMAGE VALVE.
NOTE :
Obtain pig details:
• Pig type, condition
• Dimension
• Travelling time
• Flow rate
• Expected arrival time
2.1.10 Monitor WL pipelines pressure, flow rate through CCR. Panel man 2
2.1.11 Notify Shift operation supervisor and WL OS on any flow and pressure Panel man /
abnormalities for further intervention and way forward as per SOL in 1.7. Operation
• Special procedures by SKO pipe line team need to be prepared to supervisor/
address anomalies such as stuck pig, high back pressures. Procedure WL OS
to be approved by Technical Authority.
2.1.12 Operate bypass valve to control back pressure within SOL before Area operator
expected pig arrival time. This is to prevent back pressure to offshore
(receiver outlet line)
NOTE:
• Outlet valve may not be able to cope with incoming flow
2.1.13 Monitor pig signals activation, indicating arrival of pig at receiver. Area operator
Activation of 2nd pig signal alert XI-9231 indicates pig in receiver barrel. / Panel man 2
2.2.2 To revert receiver to normal operation mode, open fully pig receiver bypass Area operator
18” VB valve and observe pressure upstream of valve. / Panel man 2
2.2.3 Close slowly receiver outlet two 12” VB valves to manifold, receiver inlet Area operator
MOV 9234 and MOV 9233 valves. Observe receiver barrel pressure and / Panel man 2
pipeline pressure upstream of valves.
2.2.5 Swing drain line spectacle blind at receiver and downstream of MOV-9234 Area operator
to open position and drain receiver slowly by opening receiver drain outlet
2” VB valve to the close drain system.
CAUTION:
• BLEED OFF PRESSURE TO ATMOSPHERIC VENT SLOWLY TO
PREVENT LIQUID CARRYOVER.
2.2.6 Check and ensure receiver pressure is 0 barg, open closure door vent plug Area operator
to bleed off any trap pressure in front of pig.
2.2.7 WARNING:
SUDDEN OPENING OF THE RECEIVER CAUSED BY PRESSURE
RELEASE MAY CAUSE INJURY
2.2.8 Confirm receiver liquid totally drained. Slowly open receiver closure door, Area operator
remove pig and pigging debris from barrel.
NOTE:
• Extended hook to pull pig out from barrel.
• Check pig condition, record wear/damage and other observations.
2.2.10 Clean inside of receiver barrel. Check receiver closure door seal, replace if Area operator
damaged.
2.2.11 Close and secure receiver closure door and close vent plug. Area operator
2.2.12 Check all receiver valves positions indication in CCR and the field are the Panel man 2/
same and drain lines spectacle blinds in close position as per Appendix A, Area operator
item 1.1, Table 1.
• Line Identification.
• Total weight.
• Name of sampler.
• Activity
2.3.2 Transfer all solid debris into a schedule waste drum, label and document Area operator
as per schedule waste requirement.
2.3.3 NOTE:
• Pigging debris is categorized as schedule waste.
2.3.4 Carry out housekeeping at receiving station and log completion of pigging Area operator
activities.
2.3.5 Input pigging data into Pipeline pigging and internal corrosion monitoring Area operator
system (PPICM).
• Refer Appendix A, item 2.2, Figure 2: Pipeline pigging and internal
corrosion monitoring system (PPICM)
2.4.1 In event pipeline pressure exceeds alarm PAH-9232 set at 8.0 barg Shift Operation
(116psig), Supervisor /
• Open receiver bypass 18” VB valve. WL OS / TM
2.4.2 In event pig stuck in pipeline, attempt to dislodge pig by varying flow rate WL OS /
or launch chaser pig to dislodge pig. Shift Operation
Supervisor
TM
NOTE:
ABV-9230 close may due to:
• Pressure HH
• Pressure LL
• Loss of instrument air
• Manual ESD initiated
NOTE:
Pressure low due to:
• Tank switching operation
• Platform shutdown
• Pipe leakage
