My Reflections/Insights

Field Study 6 – Episode 3 The Teacher in A School Setting My Reflections and/or Insights
Based on the teacher’s program and your observations, answer the following:
1. Would you consider teaching as a full-time job? Why? Why not?
• Based on my observation to my relative teacher, yes it is a full time job because even
the time allocated for their family, they allocate it in making instructional materials and
lesson planning. And at school not just a professional teacher, they still have the
responsibilities as a guidance and second parent of the learners.being a teacher is a full
time job because he/ she is responsible for the future of every learners they are the one
who develop the abilities of the learners. The teacher's are required to be committed on
their job and commitment is the best ideal to become a good teacher to the learners, if
the teacher is committed on their job it is easily to manage a classroom and to manage
his / her learners.

2. Are the conditions in the classroom conducive to the welfare of both the learners and
teacher? How will you improve on it?
• Not totally conducive. The ventilation is not good even the teacher tend to make herself
comfortable. Yet the environment is not hindrance in teaching so the process is still on
going whether the learner can learned or not..As I observed in the classroom they have
a lack of electric fan and it so hot inside the classroom and also the bulletin board
display is not properly place in the right position, also the learners are noisy even if the
teacher is around and also the visitor's.
3. After closely observing the teacher in the school setting, are you motivated to continue
on becoming a teacher? What in the teacher’s practices inspire you to become a
professional teacher?

My Reflections/Insights

1. How do you feel about the participation of the school, teachers and learners in the
celebration of the barrio fiesta?
.The school and the community has a collaboration in any activity in the barangay, like
the fiesta that is happened every year, In binitayan daraga albay , the activities in their
fiesta will held in Binitayan Elementary school because their is no other place that is
fitted on their activities. The learners are joined in the different activities like the singing
contest,.dance contest and also in the parade. Some teacher are the one who judge
during the pagent. The community, learners and teachers are participated in the
activities they implemented, such as the school help the community in exchange the
community support the activities in the school. A good partnership between the makes
the activities more meaning, have enjoyment, learnings and also have a successful
activities that happen in the barangay because all of them are part of community so the
people in the barrio, the learners and teachers are better to support the activities.

2. How does the view of the people in the community improve the teacher’s status?
• In personal view, it helps teacher to know what their wrongs they did, in this way, the
teacher may change his/ her attitude to be highly accepted in the coomunity. In the
teachers status, view of the people in the community help the teachers status to improve
maybe with the help of giving good feedbacks to the teacher. By means of this, it can
help the teacher to have a good record and also it help the teachers promotion in the
school, and also barangay give remark such as certificate to the teacher whom help
them in their activity and this will serve as credit to them to keep going towards the high
position. Through the help of the certificates that a teacher have and being active in
every barangay help the teacher to gain experience that can help him/her to be a better
teacher in school because experiences lead you to a success life and can help to the
you to gain knowledge from the experiences that you have.

3. What realization that relate to your becoming a teacher, have you gained from your
concrete experiences and observations in the community?
• Teacher must know about everything and must practice in everyday life, some parents
do seldom must misinterpret the teachers decision and actions towards his / her any
situation, that's why conflict arise. I realized that a teacher must involved his/ her self in
the community since that school is part of the community. A teacher must always
practice he professional attitude in or outside the institution, the teacher are not only
educate people inside the classroom but therefore gives extra effort to educate people
with attitude. Attitude is the key in every success, that's why each individual shall
possess the good the good characteristics and the teacher is the good role model.
Remember that the school is always in partnership with the community, so make use of
the community resources available that would help the students understand the lesson
with real world applications, and where they become socially aware and more
responsible. Also, attending or joining school-community activities should be encouraged
in every school. The school should always be proactive in collaborating with the
community. Students who participate in a quality-community-based service learning
enjoy a number of benefits, both in their personal and school (career) life. As a matter of
fact, community service enhances students’ problem-solving skills, improves their ability
to work within a group and enables them to plan more effectively. On the other hand,
school also provides activities that would help promote community development. I was
so inspired from the resource teacher that I observed her dedication to her work makes
me feel that being a teacher is not easy but if your heart and mind is in teaching it makes
you easy to teach the learners. There is greater than a teacher can do, a teacher can
change someones perception and someones life...
My Learning Portfolio

THE TEACHER IN THE COMMUNITY SETTING

The resources of the community are really helpful and it makes a living comfortable.
Those resources are the communities most needed to improve and develop people’s lives.
They have committee volunteers, networking, barangay council for protection of children,
fathers’ and mothers’ club, associations. Also the community has a educational program for
fortunate like; early childhood, child minding center, alternative learning system, educational
assistance. Vocational /technical training, college, educational trips, values formation, etc.

Aside from that the community also provides a lot of opportunity for the citizens to be able to
help each and everyone who is in need.
The Community View of Teachers

The communities view about teachers are;

 Teachers are very responsible because they do their job with all their hearts,
 Once they knew that you are a teacher they will respect you even though you are not
wearing your uniform like, they will approach you and say hi. Sometimes, people will
notice that you’re a teacher even though you didn’t tell them because they feel it already,
the way the teacher talks and acts are already respectful.
 Trustworthy individuals. I remember someone says that teachers are really trustworthy
because they take care of the children’s on the community whenever they are in the
schools or outside the schools. Parents have an assurance about their children because
they knew that teachers will take good care of them especially teach them to become a
better citizen in the future.
 Teachers are intelligent. Whenever they heard or knew that you are a teacher, the first
thing that comes into their minds is that teachers are all intelligent, like whatever questions
they give you, you can answer. Something like, teachers know all things.

My Reflections/Insights

1. If the NCBTS is the measure of a global teacher, can the teacher you interviewed be able
to meet the challenges of global education? Why? Why not?

Yes, because the teacher can be considered as a highly competitive or at least satisfactory or
even high rating, they must met has fairly met the standards for the national standards for
teacher, because teacher teach the learners so we need to met the standards.
2. Are there similarities or differences among teachers in other countries in terms of the
standard requirements for a professional teacher? Explain your answer.

There are similarities like, with a Bachelor’s degree diploma, pass national exam. There are also
some differences like with TEFL certificate because here in the Philippines it depends to your
specialization and every individual teacher are not required to have a certificate of that.

3. Are Filipino teachers comparable to their fellow teachers in other countries? Explain your
answer.

Yes, Because Filipino teachers are very hard working, loving teacher and also flexible . The
Filipino teacher always wear their sweetest smile to their learner to feel them comfortable with
the teacher in that way the learners can easily attached to their teacher because they feel safe
and happy in the school.

4. How would you prepare to become a global teacher of the 21st century? How do you see
yourself?

I need to evaluate my self if I really met the requirement on the competencies of the national
standards for teacher because quality education really matters and practically, relevant

developed competitive learners.

My Reflections/Insight

Based on the answers given by the teachers you interviewed, do they reflect a true professional
teacher?

1. Why do you think so?

 Yes the teachers I interviewed were professional teachers. They all got
their degrees and passed the licensure examination for teachers. They
also acted and talked like professional teachers and they abide with the
Code of Ethics for professional teachers.
2. Why don’t you think so?
 Some of them cannot answer or response easily and directly to the
questions I rendered to them, maybe they just need to be more
experienced in the field of teaching and developed communicating to
each other.
Based on the Interviews you conducted, is being a professional teacher a fulfilling job?
Why?

 For me yes it is a fulfilling job, because a teacher play an important role

in the life of every learner they are very happy ig they saw every pupils
who graduated in their school .teacher guides and impart knowledge to
the learners which knowledge serves as foundation of learners in dealing
with activities and challenges in life and when a teacher sees his/ her
pupils become successful someday.

Considering that you will be a future professional teacher, what standards of behavior
should you uphold based on the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers?

 All of the standards of behavior must uphold based on the code of ethics
for professional teachers, because all that standards contributes to be a
good educators. Being a good educator can make the teaching and
learning more efficient and effective .As a future teacher I believe that I
will cause a ripple through out time and will change lives of the next
generation so I need to maintain the highest dignity and moral standards
to serve as a beacon to the next generation and usher them towards the
future.
