RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Pre-Intervention
In February 2020, the researchers interviewed the respondents to gather
their opinions and know their current situation before the intervention. The
following results were as followed:
Guillen Rose Espina
Question: ‘How is your performance in the subject mathematics?’
Answer: She says that she can perform well at mathematics because it is
her favorite subject.
Question: ‘Are learning resources important when learning math? If yes,
why is it important?’
Answer: She answered yes; she says that she understood the lesson
easier.
Question: ‘What is/ are the learning resource/s you prefer to use when
studying math?’
Answer: She says that she prefer books as her learning resource.
Question: ‘How is/are it different from other learning resource/s?’
Answer: She says that books are different from other learning resource
because books show detailed explanations.
Question: ‘Does it have a big impact to your learning when studying math?’
Answer: She says that it has a big impact by easily reading the books.
Question: ‘What learning resource would you like to use aside from the one
that you’re currently using?’
Answer: She says that her alternative learning resource is the Internet.
Question: ‘Does it have an impact to your learning when studying math?’
Answer: She says yes because that it helps her understand the lesson
easier than before because it will give her a lot of examples to study and
answer.
Question: ‘How does it differ from the one that you’ve been using when
studying math?’
Answer: She thinks that she can understand the lesson more because she
can search different sites and choose what is understandable for her.
Question: ‘Will you use it more often like the one you’ve been using right
now when studying math?’
Answer: Maybe, but she said that traditional learning technique can never
go old. It can only upgrade but what traditional, stays traditional.
Arvhic Galimba
Answer: She said that it's been a long time since they had a math subject
but based on last year's lessons, she did well.
Answer: She answered yes, because math is a pretty hard subject and for
some people like her who is not a fast learner in formulas and such, she had
a hard time solving problems. Extra reading materials can absolutely help.

Answer: She uses Books, Notebooks, and Internet

Answer: She stated that for her, she really love reading so she gets to learn
more by reading materials rather than hearing the same lesson over and
over again.
Answer: She answered yes, it has a big impact for her when studying math.
Usually during classes she starts to jot down notes then she rewrites them
when she gets home. She read them before exams, quizzes, or seat works
and that really help her get some good scores.
Answer: She chose videos.
Answer: She stated that before it has a good impact but lately it wasn't
helpful because some videos show different kinds of methods in solving a
problem. This makes her confused on what to use to actually solve it given
the fact that her instructor also gives them a different formula to use.

Answer: She stated that there's a huge difference between plainly watching
and reading. It is because of her notes that make it simpler for her to
understand than just listening and watching the math problem get solved.
Answer: She says that she may use it more often since it's easier to watch
than write.
Paluis Taduran
Answer: He answered that his performance in the subject mathematics is
average because he not good in mathematics.
Answer: It is important for him that there are many learning materials
because he can learn mathematics better and easily that way.

Answer: He is more comfortable with the visuals and the step by step
procedures and also he added that it is essential for learning.

procedures because he understands that using learning materials also has
a huge impact on him because it helps him in many ways.

Mitch Airyz Prado
Answer: Her performance in the subject mathematics is average.
Answer: She thinks that it helps the learners to understand and memorize
the formulas easily. Especially for those students who are visual learners.

Answer: For her, she preferred to use Books, Notebooks, Videos, and
Internet
Answer: She writing down the formulas on a notebook helps her to
understand it better and for her to be able to note down the rules of solving
a certain problem. In addition, books, videos and internet also gives her the
chance to recall or clarify a topic that she did not fully understand.

Answer: She thinks that recording is good for recalling a lesson but it will
also be confusing because you won't be able to see the whole process on
how the teacher solve the problem.

she didn’t have because she easily gets distracted and confused by other
things.

Sophia Anne Marquez
Answer: She stated that it is not that perfect, and not that low at the same
time, in fact she said that it is just enough
Answer: She said yes, because of the fact that not all students can easily
pickup lessons especially orally without any guide or whatsoever

Answer: She stated that she uses Books, PowerPoint, videos, internet, and
recordings
Answer: She stated that it is much better when it has voice recordings in
order to feel that it is an in-depth lesson
Answer: She said yes because of the fact that it is easier to understand
when there is a voiceover
Answer: She gave the internet as an example, because the internet has
many options in it

fact that it has many sources that is connected to the topic

Melanie Marie Banuelos
Answer: She is having difficulties analyzing a math problem but if a math
problem only requires a formula, she can easily answer it.
Answer: She said yes, because students can study by themselves and be
prepared for their future lessons

Internet, Flashcards, and Recordings

Answer: She stated that the techniques and the way the lessons are
presented are more reliable.
Roselina Busano
Answer: She said that although it's her least favorite subject, she thinks that
she’s doing fine in Mathematics since her grades are always average.
Answer: Definitely yes, for a person who doesn't really like math- like her,
she finds it more difficult if there are no learning resources that would guide
her.

Answer: She thinks that books are easier to understand. It lets her take her
time understanding the lesson unlike recorded sources.

offers different techniques that she finds easier to use rather than the
standard solutions on books.
Answer: Yes, lately she’s been using the internet more often than textbooks
since she don't even have books in PUP.
Angela Keith Novio
Answer: She says that her performance in math is good because she enjoys
the subject.
Answer: She answered yes, because it is easier for students like her to
follow the lessons with these learning resources.

Emmanuel Francis Macaya
Answer: He says that he enjoys math but sometimes, he’s having a hard
time following the lessons because he finds it hard.
Answer: He says yes, because it helps him to learn quickly especially when
lessons are hard to follow.

Sarah Mae Sison
Answer: She stated that even though she's a stem student, her performance
in mathematics is very poor and she needs to undergo make up classes to
further understand the lesson.
Answer: She said that it's useful for advance reading.

Answer: She answered that it is easier to understand the lesson in videos
like youtube.

Answer: Her alternative learning resource is notebook.

Answer: It is more cost efficient when she’s out of budget to support the
internet.

Intervention
After taking a quiz, the researchers will give different learning resources
to the respondents. The respondents’ interventions will be different from each
other based on what they chose as an alternative learning resource when
studying mathematics. These interventions are as follows:
Internet
Emmanuel, Angela, Roselina, Sophia, and Guillen chose internet as
their alternative learning resource. Each of the respondents will be given 10
min to browse the internet and review for the second quiz. The quiz that will be
given is the same as the one that they take before the intervention.
Flashcards
Melanie Marquez chose flashcards as her alternative learning resource.
With the given 10 min., the respondent will be given flashcards that will help her
prepare for the upcoming quiz. Once the time is up, the respondent will take the
same quiz that she took before the intervention.
Recordings
Mitch Prado chose recordings as an alternative learning resource when
learning mathematics. After the first quiz, the respondent will listen to one of the
recordings that the researchers provided for a given period of time. Once it is
done, the respondent will answer the same quiz for final evaluation.
PowerPoint
Paluis Taduran chose powerpoint as his alternative learning resource
out of the seven given learning resources. The researchers will provide the
learning resource he chose for him to prepare for another quiz. After 10
minutes, the respondent will have to take a similar quiz before the researchers
gave him the learning resource.
Videos
One of the possible alternative learning resource, videos, was chosen by
Arvhic Galimba. The respondent will watch videos related to the quiz in just 10
minutes. The learning resources will be provided by the researchers and will
observe its effect after comparing the results of the two similar quiz taken by
the respondent.
