1. I would like to tell you about my uncle. His name is Juma and he is thirty-nine years old. He is
my father’s youngest brother. I really like Uncle Juma because he is very kind and very funny.
He also tells us interesting stories about the places he visits.
2. My favourite drink is tea and I drink a lot of it. I always have tea in the morning for breakfast. I
make a pot of tea and then I drink it all myself. Sometimes I have another pot before lunch. At
four o’clock, I make a cup of mint tea. Mint tea is good for waking up and studying.
3. Use of the internet has grown very quickly. In 1983, there were 562 computersconnected to
the Internet. By the turn of the century, there were 72.3 millioncomputers in 247 countries on-
line. Experts say that the Internet is now growing ata rate of approximately 40 percent a year.
As time goes on, the Internet is becoming more and more popular.
4. There are many reasons I hate my apartment. The plumbing doesn’t work properly and the
landlord refuses to fix it. I also have noisy neighbours who keepme up all night. Furthermore,
there are so many bugs in my apartment that I couldstart an insect collection. I really want to
move.
5. Momma bought two bolts of cloth each year for winter and summer clothes. She made my
school dresses, underslips, bloomers, handkerchiefs, Bailey's shirts, shorts, her aprons, house
dresses and waists from the rolls shipped to Stamps by Sears and Roebuck

With this Mrs. Rachel stepped out of the lane into the backyard of Green Gables. Very green and
neat and precise was that yard, set about on one side with great patriarchal willows and the other with
prim Lombardies. Not a stray stick nor stone was to be seen, for Mrs. Rachel would have seen it if
there had been. Privately she was of the opinion that Marilla Cuthbert swept that yard over as often
as she swept her house. One could have eaten a meal off the ground without overbrimming the
proverbial peck of dirt.
