BACK WASHING OF CONDENSER-B PASS

Present unit condition:

Unit load: 240 MW
Condenser vacuum:-0.88Kg/cm2 (with 2 Vacuum pumps)
LPT Exhaust Temp: 51.7degree
CW inlet pressures (A/B passes) at condenser: 1.48/0.94 Kg/cm2
Differential pressure across (A/B passes) at condenser: 4904/2149 mmwcl
CW Flow (A/B passes) at condenser: 17622 /-- T/hr

Desired Output:
To increase the CW inlet pressure at Condenser-B pass from existing 0.94Kg/cm2
through condenser backwashing.

PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED FOR BACK WASHING:

 Note down Unit load, Condenser vacuum, LPT exhaust temperature, CW inlet
pressures prior tripping of CW pump B.
 Slowly reduce the load on the unit to100 MW by cutting off the bottom Mill
duly taking oil support in top mill, duly observing the furnace pressure and PA
header pressure.( Reduction of load preferably shall be carried out during load
back down duly keeping the unit X load at 250 MW)
 Stop the debris system B.
 Stop the CW pump B feeding condenser path-B duly keeping the standby
pump in manual (CWP –A is in service).
 Observe Condenser vacuum and reduce the Unit load further if necessary.
 Maintain Gland steam pressure, SH & RH temperatures.
 Observe LPT Exhaust temperature, CW inlet & outlet temperatures.
 After 5 minutes, Start CWP-B in to service.
 Observe any increase in CW B pass Inlet pressure at condenser.
