1 PURPOSE
1.1 Project Background
Jangkrik Field (also abbreviated as JKK) is a gas discovery made in March 2009. It is
located about 70 km from the coast, in the Muara Bakau permit area, Makassar Strait,
offshore Borneo of Indonesia, at a water depth ranging from 250 to 500 m. Eni,
through its Indonesian subsidiary, operates the Muara Bakau PSC with a 55% interest,
in joint venture with GDF Suez, holding the remaining 45% interest.
To date, three exploration wells (Jangkrik-1, Jangkrik-2 and Jangkrik-3) have been
drilled. A Feasibility study, completed in July 2011, has led to the identification of the
most attractive concept for development of Jangkrik Field. The selected concept is
based on a subsea development with seven wells, full treatment facilities on a spread
moored FPU and export line to shore at Sapi landfall.

Jangkrik North East (also abbreviated as JNE), located at about 25 km NNE from JKK is
a recent gas discovery, made in July 2011, through the explorative well Jangkrik North
East 1. An appraisal well has been drilled in September 2011.

The concept defined during the FEED of the Concept Definition phase and confirmed for
the EXECUTION foresees:
 A Barge Shaped FPU performing Full Offshore Process and exporting treated gas
onshore near Sapi existing plant for tie-in of gas to the existing 42” existing
pipeline to Badak Plant and stabilised condensate to the 20” existing pipeline to
Senipah Plant. An additional tie-in to an existing 20” pipeline is foreseen to route
part of the produced gas to the domestic market;
 7 Subsea Wells for JKK tied back to the FPU (EP3 and EPCI-2 Contractor scope);
 4 Subsea Wells for JNE tied back to the FPU (EP3 and EPCI-2 Contractor scope);
 Export gas and condensate flowlines to shore (EPCI-2 Contractor scope);

Final destination of Jangkrik gas is the Bontang LNG Plant and local market.
Final destination of Jangkrik condensate is Senipah Plant.

1.2 Scope and Purpose

The purpose of this document is to define the minimum requirements for the
instrument identification and numbering, the instrumentation device tagging rules for
the plant.
A dedicated Numbering procedure for subsea will be issued for identification of subsea
equipment and instruments.
A Telecom’s equipment numbering procedure has to be used for identification of
telecom’s equipment.
These requirements shall be used throughout all steps of the Project and by all parties:
CONTRACTOR, SUB CONTRACTORS and VENDORS/SUPPLIERS
This document is issued from company specification. However some characteristics
have been reworked to be suitable to FPU plant.

5.1 General Criteria For Item Identification Implementation

The general identification criteria outlined below is applicable to all items that need to be
identified for engineering, operation, maintenance, quality control or project management
needs.

Once an identification code is cancelled, it cannot be reused; it will be kept in the item list as
"cancelled item".

An identification string shall be only dedicated to one device.

The definition of the identification codes utilizes:

 A for alphabetic characters

 N for numeric characters
 X for alphanumeric characters

It is assumed that maintenance will not create tags in addition to those created by
engineering.
It is therefore a requirement for engineering to provide a tag population in accordance to
maintenance requirements.

When two or more identical instrumentation devices are installed in non-redundant purpose,
they must have different sequential numbers.

The tag shall be reported in documentation, instrumentation data base, reports and labels.

Note 1: Codes automatically implemented

5.1.1 Prefix
The Prefix is a term which is normally used to identify the Facility code, the Sub facilities code,
the Facility Functional unit code and the train number.
5.1.2 Facility Code
XXXX: Alphanumeric code
Facility: it's the code that identifies the plant.
It is assigned by COMPANY in order to guarantee the traceability of the project documents.

Note: The Facility code is not copy out in each following sections, but it has to be integrated
automatically in each code. The facility code will be the “Plant” code of SPI.

5.1.3 Sub Facility Code

XX: Alphanumeric code
Sub facility Code: it's a code that identifies a part/section unit within the facility defined on
functional or geographic criteria, such as Floater, cluster, sea line. The code has 2 characters.
The code ‘01’ shall be used for the FPU.

Note: The Sub-facility code is not copy out in each following sections, but it has to be
integrated automatically in each code.
The sub facility code is the “Area” code of SPI.
5.1.4 Facility Functional Unit (FFU)
XXX: Alphanumeric code
The whole plant will be divided and identified in distinct functional units, according to the
Company Specification – Facility Functional Unit. The facility Functional unit is the unit which
the measured variable belongs. In the same loop if devices belong to different FFU , the loop
will be identified with the most relevant unit. Therefore the FFU of concerned devices will be
the same than the loop FFU.

The FFU is the first element to identify the item. This code is mainly used for loop, and
instrument tagging definition.

5.1.5 Train N°
N: Numeric code
Train defines the facilities allowing a process function. This notion is used on numbering
procedure when almost two trains are involved. If there is no train, the relevant code is
omitted.

Train code is numerical character.

Thus only the train number code differentiates the identical instrumentation devices installed
in two different trains.
5.1.6 Measured Variable
A: Alphabetic code

It allows the identification of loop type item.

The list of Measured variables and their codes are reported in Annex 1 (Measured variables
list). The First letter of Function code is generally identical to measured variable.
5.1.7 Function
AAAAA: Alphabetic code

The Function is an alphabetic code with a maximum of 5 characters, issued from the "ISA"
codification, whose list can be found in Annex 3 (Function code table).

Actuated valves and dampers identification shall be in accordance with this procedure.

On the other hand, manual valves without any instrumentation device shall be according
piping identification procedure.

5.1.8 Sequential Number

NNN: Numeric code

Sequential Number shall be organised in a logical manner to reflect the process.

As far as possible, it shall be in a chronological order following the process flow way
identification.
For the same Facility, Sub-facility or FFU the sequential number could only be identical if the
Measure variable is different in the same train.
The sequential number shall be assigned in sequence applying the below rule:
Sequential Number Designation
From 001 to 499 Dedicated to top site instrument tag number

From 500 to 699 Dedicated to hull site instrument tag number

From 700 to 849 Dedicated to top side package instrument tag number

From 850 to 999 Dedicated to hull package instrument tag number

The sequence number for main power generation (FFU 470) shall be assigned in sequence
applying the below rule:

Sequential Number Designation

From 001 to 499 Dedicated to top site power generation instrument tag number

From 500 to 699 Dedicated to hull power generation instrument tag number

From 700 to 899 Dedicated to top side package power generation instrument tag number

From 900 to 999 Dedicated to hull package power generation instrument tag number
The sequence number for HVAC (FFU 660) shall be assigned in sequence applying the below
rule:

5.1.9 Suffix
XXX: Alphanumeric code
The suffix code is written down at the end of identification item.

The alphabetic suffix code, starting from A, is dedicated to the duplication of an item which
fulfills the redundancy rules explained below.

The numeric suffix code, starting from one (1), is also used to dissociate similar functions on
the same loop.

The redundancy concerning the equipment (e.g., pumps, drums,…) is not considered for the
tagging of instrumentation devices. Thus, for two (2) redundant equipment on the same train
the instrumentation devices shall be identified with different sequential number.

The Redundancy here described characterizes two or more identical instrumentation devices
within the same train.

The suffix code used for redundancy shall be only used in the following cases:
 When two or more identical instrumentation devices; same measure type, same control
functions are installed in the same equipment.
 The instrumentation devices could have a different construction type, if they are
compliant with the precedent requirement (ex: ionic gas detector, Infra-red gas
detectors, point gas detectors).
 The instrumentation could have different set points if they comply with the first
requirement (ex: Pressure safety valves with different exhaust pressure value).

When the suffix code is not used the relevant digit code is omitted.

Example 1: Redundant pressure safety valves pertain to sub facility 01(FPU), Unit 370,
train 1
Loop name Function

5.4.1 FFU Identification

XXX: Alphanumeric characters

The FFU Identification code is used to codify the localization of instrument devices. That is
used for panels, MCT frame, air manifolds and Control Room Instruments.
• if they receive signals from instruments belonging to a single functional unit, they are
assigned to that FFU.
• if they receive signals from instruments of different functional units they are assigned to the
control room FFU(970/980).
• if they receive signals from processing or generating functional units installed between the
field and the operations room, they belong to the FFU, which includes the equipment and the
instrument that generates or processes the signal.
• if they receive a signal from a FFU that conditions and/or validates only the signal generated
by a local instrument and does not perform other functions, they belong to the unit which
includes the instrument that generates the signal.

5.4.2 Circuit Type

A: Alphabetic character

“I” is used for defining if Intrinsically Safe design.

“N” is used for defining if Not Intrinsically Safe design.

When there is no IS “N” has to be indicated.

Note 1: Analysis (letter A as initiating variable). The letter “A” covers analyzers not described
by specific letters.

Note 2: Gas detection (letter G initiating variable), Gas detection instruments shall be named
using codes defined in annex 3.

Note 3: /

Note 4: /

Note 5: Alarm (letter A in second position)

For analogue measurement, the letter A will be associated with the letters “L” or “H”, “LL” or
“HH”.
Process functions shall normally be associated with the single modifying letters “L” or “H”.
Trip functions shall always be associated with the double modifying letters “LL” or “HH”.

Note 6: Record (letter R in second position)

The record function “R” is used only where this function is provided by an external recorder.
This code is implicit when it is performed by an automated system.

Note 7: /

Note 8: On/Off status (letter H&L as third or subsequent letters)

In case of valves or open/closed devices: H means open and L closed
In case of running machines: H means running and L stopped

Note 9: Electrical motors (letter M as initiating variable)

Tags of electrical users shall start with prefix M before initiating variable

Note 10: On/Off valves (letter X as initiating variable)

Tags of ON/OFF valves shall start with prefix X before initiating variable

The number of codified functions shall be limited as much as possible to two. As a general rule,
it is recommended that the number of letters is limited, in order to indicate only the process
variable and the actual main function instrument. Alarm threshold shall not be considered as
an instrument, but shall be a part of the associated device, which generates the function.
