1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Scope
This installation guide covers the minimum requirement to install the devices of Fire and Gas
Detection and Alarm System (hereinafter called FGS) for the plant, jetty areas and operation
complex.
This document covers the FGS field devices for all onshore facilities i.e. Process Area, Utility
Area, Offsite Tanks, Jetty Area, Operation Complex etc. of Ichthys Onshore LNG Facilities
Project to be constructed at Blaydin Point, to the southeast of Darwin, in the Northern Territory
(NT).
FGS devices inside the buildings and at HVAC air intake are out of scope.
Where location of these devices is limited due to congestion, the installation should be
adjusted but shall maintain the requirements of the devices. The installation of these devices
shall not cause obstruction on accessibility of nearby valves and instruments.
2. INSTALLATION GUIDE
The locations of these gas detectors are identified on the Fire and Gas Detection Layouts
listed on Section 1.2.1 of this document. The number and location of these gas detectors will
be confirmed by the fire and gas mapping study.
These combustible gas detectors shall be installed such that the distance between the
transmitter and the receiver shall not exceed 60 meters. The height of these gas detectors
shall be minimum 2.3m (above head clearance) to minimize the nuisance alarm.
Maintainability shall be considered for the location of detectors.
The number, location and height of these gas detectors will be confirmed by the fire and gas
mapping study.
Refer to Section 3.3.2 for the typical installation.
