The purpose of this exam is two-fold: First to assure the Board that the applicant is familiar with the state law
and board rules, and secondly, to give the applicant experience in using the Act and Board Rules as guidance in
professional conduct and ethics in the practice of engineering in Texas.
INSTRUCTIONS
TAKING & RETURNING THE EXAM: Before answering the questions on this exam, please read the Texas
Engineering Practice Act and Board Rules, a copy of which can be downloaded for your use in completing this
Exam. In answering the questions, you should select one correct answer to each question, and record your answer on
this sheet below. You may keep the Act and Board rules for future use and reference in your engineering practice.
When complete, sign at the bottom and return the answer sheet to the board office at the time you file your
application.

PASSING REQUIREMENTS: This open book exam over the Law and Rules of the Texas Engineering Practice Act
requires a score of 92% for passing. If a score below 92% is made, you will be notified and may download or have
a new exam sent to you. The application will not be processed until the minimum passing score of 92% is achieved.
