Abstract/ Preface

Adaptive and Reuse deals with the structure(historical) which is not in a good condition
i.e., in ruins or which may in ruin stage are adopted for to conserve for elongation of its
life and restore the elements which are missed by natural calamities and other reasons
(or) already ruined.these restored and conserved places will be reused for any other
purposes.

1. INTRODUCTION

The history of India begins with the Indus Valley civilization which is one of the world’s
oldest civilizations.

India is known for its history which starts from the Indus valley civilization. Right from the
Indus valley civilization it includes the built up spaces. Some ruins that we found can
takes back to the glimpse of their ages and history.

2.Aim and Objectives


Aim : Enhancing of the forbidden historical precint

Objectives
1. conserve the built structures
2. Restoring the demolished structures
3. Reuse the precinct/structures for the suitable conditions and Restoring its
glory

3.Methodology
Stage 1
Study of the selected precinct by the secondary sources like history and other information.
Stage 2
Site study of the selected precinct. Experience the essence of the existed ruined site and
select one among of the built structures to conserve, restore and reuse.
Stage 3
Drafting/collecting of the existed site plan with contours and architectural details.
Stage 4
Keenly analyze and known about the architectural details and what is the built structure
talking/depicting to us.
Stage 3
Collecting information on the conservation methods and materials, restoration techniques,
area program and norms for the development of the heritage precinct.
Stage 4
Conserve the building by applying modern/traditional construction methods and materials in
wherever parts it required.
Stage 5
Restore the elements of the structure with reference/guidance to the primary and secondary
sources.

Stage 6
Re-design of the interior space without disturbing the any parts of the structure.

4.Need/Relevance of the study


India is well known for its history and historical precincts which consists from large
forts/tombs to the small temples. People majorly known about their history, culture and
the importance of their respective places, in which some of them are conserved and
some them are not. By conserving, restoring and reuse of that precincts makes that it
can be acts as a screen to the next generations of our history, culture and glory.

5.Design program

Design program is decided and finalized after analyzing and discussion with the
respective faculty.

6.Scope and limitations


This type of conservation and restoration works are needed to so many historical
precincts in India which are in stage of ruins and some were already ruined.
Archaeological survey of India(ASI) also playing a major role in conserving and restoring
of such historical precincts but it doesn’t reaching to the all extinct.
6.1 Scale of the project
Site is restricted to certain level that it does not exceed 30-40 acres.
6.2 Extent of project
Conservation, restoration and reuse is limited to a one building in the whole site.

Detailed documentation is limited to certain elements (its depend on the site study).

9.FEASIBILITY(FINANCIAL)
The INDIAN HERITAGE HOTEL ASSOCIATION can adopt and maintain by them
by becoming a member of it.So that it can maintain and preserve.

Jamindar’s of the region can be funded for this development.

10. CONCLUSION
“People without knowing their history is a tree without roots”-
MARCUS GARVEY.
So, this kind of projects help to preserve the historical precincts and the
culture of their region.Besides it can be a little trend to divert the people from
the conventional hotels/resorts.
