TOPIC: Describe an event or accomplishment that became a turning point in your
life? How did it change your perspective about yourself and others?
Life is a collection of unpredictable events, some memorable and some not,
but what matters is the learning you get from them. One such event that has been a turning point in my life is when I lost my father at the age of 17. He was the closest one I had. The epiphany that I had was the transfer of responsibility to my shoulders. My father always used to engage me in the family business in some or the other way and that is something that encouraged me in getting to know how a business functions. After completing my schooling in 2017, I got an opportunity to work in the family business as a product developer and finding prospects alongside my mother who now handles the business. This is when I was exposed to the real business world and learned about how to deal with customers and other market players. The process of finding the best for the business is something which I enjoy the most. At the same time a teaching opportunity presented itself where I had to impart academic knowledge to students of class 9 & 10. So, I started working in an institute with a team of tutors and learnt the nuances of teaching skills and teamwork. I learnt that, “To teach is to learn twice”. It helped me become even more responsible as now I was contributing in shaping someone’s future. Getting yourself to a level where you can impart knowledge to others is something, I think I have mastered through my teaching experience. There will be people whose perspective won’t align with yours but working on a common ground is better than working separately. Moreover, I learnt that every person is different and that you need to interact with each of them uniquely.
