STUB PROTECTION FOR ONE AND HALF

RC-IN EM DG S 1
BUS SYSTEM

STUB PROTECTION:

A stub fault is a short circuit located between the current transformer and the line isolator, which cannot be protected by
the distance protection if the line isolators are opened. It is an especially required for ONE AND HALF circuit breaker
scheme.

Stub fault at ONE AND HALF circuit breaker arrangement:

 Fault current will be carried by (1-52CB & 2-52CB) if the fault occurs between 1-89L & 1-52CB while the line
isolator is open (1-89L).

 The instantaneous trip will be given by line protection relay with no time delays as a STUB.

 It is an overcurrent protection which is only in service when the state of the line isolator indicates the open
condition via a binary input >I-STUB ENABLE.

 The stub protection will be disabled, if the line isolator is closed

 The Stub protection boundary is defined by the location of the current transformers.

 Configure above mentioned binary input & output to the respective function to check stub protection.
 Apply the current an above the setting value & measure the time across binary output-1.
