Procedure For communicating RET670 Relay Using PCM600

Step 1. Always try to run Application in “Run as administrator” as Shown in Fig.

1.0,1.1,1.2
Do as shown in Fig1.0,1.1,1.2

Fig. 1.0

Step 2. After this, Double click PCM600 32bit or 62 bit then you will able to see window
shown in Fig. 2.0. Then Open the existing project using open/manager Project, Select the
project then click open project as shown in Fig. 2.1

Step 3. After Open the project select the Relay file which you have to communicate as shown
in Fig. 3.0

Fig. 3.0
Then right click for option as shown in Fig. 3.1
 Select Communication Port->Front port.
 Before making online communication make sure PCM600 selected in ONLINE as
shown in Fig. 3.1 which is marked with blue arrow left bottom(Note If that selected in
Offline you can’t communicate relay as my knowledge).

Step 4. Once communication port selected as “Front port”, Configure the local area
connection as Shown in Fig 4.0,4.1,4.2 (Note. Default Front port IP Address for ABB is
“10.1.150.3”, if relay configured already check front port IP Address in relay)

Fig. 4.0

Fig. 4.1 Fig. 4.2

Step 5. After Configure local area connection, connect LAN cable from laptop to relay and
check communication as shown in Fig. 5.0,5.1
 Run=>CMD=>then type PING 10.1.150.3 as in relay, If You wrongly configured
local area connection its shows error like “Destination host unreachable” as shown in
Fig. 5.1, Once its got ping from relay then you will receive command as “bytes=32
time<1ms TTl=64” as shown in Fig. 5.1
 Note : For Example Relay Front port IP address in 10.1.150.20, you have to configure
local area connection more value than relay IP address like 10.1.150.(21 to 999)

Step 6. Before read or write to IED(relay), You have to set technical key as shown in Fig. 6.0

Fig. 6.0
 After click set technical key you will receive popup window as shown in
Fig. 6.1,6.2,6.3

Fig. 6.1 Fig. 6.2 Fig. 6.3

 Click “OK” in Fig. 6.1, Click “Trust forever or trust for this section” in Fig. 6.2.

 Fig. 6.3 important you have to careful while choosing this.

 For example if you are testing relay in factory(Testing purpose) then you can choose
option as shown in Fig. 6.3 otherwise you have select correct technical key.

 Both a physical IED and an IED object in PCM600 have a technical key. The purpose
of the technical key is to prevent download of a configuration to wrong IED. The
technical key in the IED and PCM600 must be the same, otherwise it is not possible
to download a configuration. Each IED in a PCM600 project must have a unique
technical key. It is therefor not possible to set the same technical key for several IEDs
in the same PCM600 project.

 When writing a configuration to the IED, PCM600 checks the mismatch between the
IED object and the physical IED technical key, if any. For communication between
theIED and PCM600 the technical key must be the same. Users have the option to
read the technical key from the IED and update it to PCM600 or write the PCM600
technical key to the IED. The user can also define an own technical key as shown in
Fig. 6.3
 Once IED and PCM600 the technical key same then popup message show as Fig. 6.4

Fig. 6.4

Step 7. After Setting technical key, Now you can write to IED(relay) as shown in Fig. 7.0

Fig. 7.0
 By clicking write to IED option you will receive popup message as shown in Fig.

7.1,7.2
Fig. 7.1 Fig. 7.2

 Click “OK” in Fig. 7.1 , Click “trust forever or trust for this session” in Fig. 7.2

 Click “scan” in Fig. 7.5, check all order code with pcm600 and relay then click ok and
by clicking finish in Fig. 7.6, you will receive message as shown in Fig. 7.7
 After finished all these you can write IED or read IED
