AUGUST 2017

An advocate. A dreamer. A visionary. A youth leader. A teacher. He believes in

touching lives of others by making them smile. By simply smiling, or spending a
short but quality time with them getting to know and adding value to the
person.

He was born in Dumaguete City to a UCCP Pastor and a Math Professor. He was raised in
Midsayap, Cotabato where he also finished elementary at Southern Christian College.

At age 12, he dared and surmounted all challenges by leaving the comforts of his home in
Midsayap and journeyed to far away Dasmariñas, Cavite to study high school on his own at
the Philippine Christian University – Integrated Science School. It was at PCU Dasma that he
discovered his leadership potential, and blossomed as a young leader in school, in the
Church and even in the wider community.

Continuing from where he left-off in high school, he sought out to spread his wings, and
reach for his full potential by entering Silliman University in 1998. He took up Bachelor of
Arts major in History. In Silliman, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the historic, 114-year old
“THE WEEKLY SILLIMANIAN.” The Weekly Sillimanian is one of the only two “regular
and consistent” weekly school paper in the country, the other being the UP Collegian.

Opportunities and challenges came pouring in while he was in Silliman. He was sent to the
INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY in TOKYO, JAPAN as an exchange scholar
in 2000. He finished courses in Japanese Studies, and Japanese Language in ICU. He can
READ, WRITE, and SPEAK in JAPANESE.

He spent a total of six years in college, with two years added to the regular four years
because of his exchange scholarship grant in Japan. He was a consistent Dean’s Lister and a
College Honor, and upon graduation, was conferred the UNIVERSITY HONORS – for
consistent academic excellence. He graduated with Silliman’s highest honors being
adjudged as the MOST OUTSTANDING STUDENT OF THE YEAR. He finished his degree
Bachelor of Arts Major in History, MAGNA CUM LAUDE.

He was also awarded as the one of the TEN OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF REGION 7;
and the TEN OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF THE PHILIPPINES (TOSP) in 2004.

After graduation, the wares and trainings he got from Silliman was tested right away when
he was called to serve as the Provincial Information Officer of Misamis Occidental three
days before his graduation from college. He was also served as the Provincial Tourism
Officer until 2010; and has been the Chief Political Affairs Officer of Congressman Leo
Ocampos.

Even as he was very busy with work, he did not stop his advocacy with Youth
Development. He founded the YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM or YLP in 2004 as a
banner leadership development platform for the youth of Misamis Occidental.
In 2005, he expanded his youth development involvement internationally by being one of
the delegates to the BRITISH COUNCIL 1st YOUNG GLOBAL CITIZENS PROJECT in
Indonesia.

In 2009 he helped in various national youth organizations like the:

Filipino Liberal Youth,
Youth for Peace Advocate Movement or YPAM.

In 2013, he was the Congress Director of the National Youth Congress that was held at the
Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm in Bulacan. This Congress was organized by the Armed
