Northeastern Shuttle Service, Improved Northeastern Commuting Service
Purpose

An efficient transportation
system has a significant

life, opportunity for
recreation, education,
social and businesses.
Passengers have varying
competing means of
transportation. The most
used means of
transportation apart from
walking is by public
transport which
includes taxi, minibus and
paratransit in developing
countries. The majority of
public transportation in
developed countries is
usually funded by the
state where both capital
and operating costs are
subsidized
An efficient transportation system has a significant impact on the quality of life, opportunity for
recreation, education, social and businesses. The most used means of transportation apart from walking is
by public transport which includes taxi, minibus. However, accessing a public transport for a distance
within 2 miles is not cost feasible for a student. Also walking during the nighttime to the access the college for
different purposes like the library, night shifts is inconvenient because of the erratic weather of Boston and
also a threat to safety. Furthermore, In Northeastern University we have a Red Eye transportation which
picks up students from the library and drops them off at their respective places from 7pm – 6 am. However,
there are many students who want to access the college during the night as well as during the day time but
there is no shuttle service to pick them up from their place.
In Northeastern University we have Red eye transportation from 7p- 6 am which includes only drop pff. The
number of seats is comparatively less than the students who utilize the service. We need a shuttle service
which is available through out the day with pick up and drop off. Red eye service covers only 2 miles. So we
can increase the radius or maybe add normal passengers? Reducing emission of Carbon footprint.

T-services not accessible to students who live areas ways from the station. Not available from 1am. Kind of
shady at night. Collect data in order to know the max areas from where the students come. Shuttle service
morning – evening .
