In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Act of Contrition
O Lord Jesus, I am sorry for all my sins which have been the cause of
Thy carrying of the cross in the midst of suffering and embitterness. Allow me
now, my sweet Lord to bring myself face to face with Thee, however unworthy
I am. Forgive me all my sins thou didst not want the condemnation of the
sinner but his conversion and salvation.
O Jesus, I come to You, with a firm purpose of amendment and resolve
not to displease. Thee again by committing sin but to pledge my service unto
the hour of my death. With the help of Thy grace, which we hope to obtain
through the intercession of Your most faithful protector, St. Joseph, who is
also our powerful guardian. Amen.

Act of Offering
O St. Joseph, pure spouse of the Holy Mother of God, I sincerely offer
you all my love, my joy and the gratitude for all the benefits I received from
God through your helpful and kind intercession.
St. Joseph, please take our cause into your hands and obtain for us the
graces we ask of your dear Child and foster-son Jesus. Grant that we may
have give a good example to one another, in that way we may give glory to
God. In return may we receive that peace and happiness, specially the
assistance I ask for during this novena; which the angels, in the name of the
Most High promised to men of good will. Amen.

Opening Prayer for the First Day
O glorious St. Joseph, spouse of Mary most holy and foster father of
Jesus Christ, our strength, refuge and protector; we come before thee to offer
seven Our Fathers, Hail Marys and Glorys in honor of the seven joys thou
didst experience in this earthly life and for the sake of the seven sorrows thou
didst suffer from the very moment of our Lord’s conception up to Him finding
in the temple.
Do thou, o St. Joseph revive in us the virtue of faith and may it be the
principle of all our actions and the source of abundant merits. Do thou cause
the Christian hope to descend into our hearts and may it elevate our thoughts
and feelings towards heaven. Enkindle in our cold hearts the spark of thy love
and may God be the first and only object of our affections. Grant that such a
love of God make us overcome all obstacles and accept the greatest sacrifices
rather than separate ourselves from the charity of our Lord.
O Blessed Joseph, grant us the grace to make this novena worthily and
faithfully so that we may deserve to obtain the good we desire, if it be for the
greater glory of God and the salvation of our souls. Amen.

Special Prayer for the FIRST DAY

Most Holy father and patriarch. St. Joseph, who hadst been chosen of
all men to be the protector of the Mother of God because thou didst strongly
believe in the virginity of Mary when she was with-child; obtain for us that
same faith which was required during the flight to Egypt when the God Child
fled from the rage of a King and during the days of poor living in Nazareth.
May we live by that faith built upon firm foundation of knowledge of what the
Catholic Church teaches.
Pray to God, O Blessed Joseph for our intentions in this novena for the
greater glory of God and thy exaltation. Amen.

Most holy father and patriarch. St. Joseph, thou who hadst thy trust in
God in an eminent degree amidst terrific difficulties in caring for the Virgin
and her Child, obtain for us the grace that we thy devoted children may
always place ourselves in the hands of God and trust Him to watch over us,
guide and protect us in the fulfillment of our mission in life.
Pray, O Blessed Joseph, that our thoughts, desires and aspirations be
always attached to God so that we may be worthy to obtain the favor we ask
during this novena. Amen.

Special Prayer for the THIRD DAY

Most Holy father and patriarch St. Joseph, thou who didst love God
from the first years of thy life, with a love of union in that thou didst keep
thyself ever in the presence of God and with a love of immolation sacrifices
and perseverance; obtain for us the grace always to be united to God by being
faithful to our duties to Him until death.
Help me merit the reward of dying in the arms of Jesus and Mary which
is the favor I wish to obtain during this novena. Amen.

Special Prayer for the FOURTH DAY

O St. Joseph, help me to understand the excellence of purity and how
dear it is to the heart of God. Teach me to preserve carefully this delicate
virtue under the shadow of the fear of God; to safeguard it by prayer, by
vigilance, by shunning the world, by careful watch over my heart and senses.
Grant that I may henceforward close my heart to all disorderly
affections, that I may deserve to enjoy like thee upon earth the friendship and
intimacy of Jesus, and that it may be given the canticle reserved for virgins.

O St. Joseph, what a lesson for me who am so eager to appear deserving
of and so anxious to display before the eyes of man graces that I owe entirely
to the liberality of God. Obtain that I may attribute to God the glory of all
things.
Grant that I may love the humble and the hidden life; that I may shun
all vainglory: that I may not desire any other position than the one given me
by Divine Providence; and that I may always be a docile instrument in the
hands of God. Amen.

O my glorious father and patriarch, St. Joseph, who art the model of

O my Blessed Joseph, grant that your example and that of Mary, as well

may deserve like you to enjoy the company of Jesus and Mary, man’s models
of purity.

Concluding Prayer
O Eternal Father and omnipotent God. Who has pleased to choose and
bless our father, St. Joseph to be the spouse of the Virgin Mary and protector
of her treasured chastity, for she was most loving of our Lord Jesus, and had
deigned to make him witness to the great mysteries in the house of Nazareth,
head of Thy household and family which he had served amidst labor and
poverty; grant that through his intercession we may fulfill our duties to Thee
as his devoted children. Instill in our hearts the virtue of humility and through
the merits of our holy patriarch, we may ask Thee, O Lord, to have mercy
upon us poor sinners, and give us the grace necessary to keep Thy church. O
Blessed Joseph, obtain for us the divine aid in order that we may be able to
perform the duties required by our state in life and persevere to the end in the
path of holiness. Assist us, our father, St. Joseph, in all our work, most
especially when that hour comes when we have to leave this life so that we
may one day enjoy Thy company in heaven. Amen.

Joseph rose up from his sleep and obeyed the bindings of the angel of
God to help the Mother and the God Child in the flight.
