Books and films of our time- "The Day after Tomorrow"

The Day after Tomorrow examines the topic of climate change and the
potential aftermath of a sudden and catastrophic global warming. I used not to
believe in climate change, but seeing this movie really made me question my
previous beliefs and pay more attention to this issue.

It is a fast-paced, thrilling, suspenseful film filled with wonderful images,

skillful CGI effects and believable acting. At the beginning of the film, the world is
generally getting warmer, as is the case in reality, but climatologist Jack Hall
discovers that a huge hunk of the Atlantic ice sheet has broken off, and realizes the
unavoidable consequences. In New York, where his son is, it is continually raining,
and weather-related disasters are happening all over the globe. It soon becomes
clear that the world is about to enter a new ice age.

The film really helped me understand more about society today in a

meaningful way, because it made me become aware of the real problems of today's
world. This movie takes a look at what the world would look like if the greenhouse
effect and global warming continued at such levels that they resulted in worldwide
catastrophe and disaster, including multiple hurricanes, tornadoes, tidal waves,
floods and the beginning of the next Ice Age.

Since the latest film by Roland Emmerich hit the cinemas with its gruesome
narrative of humankind endeavor with the impending freeze, my interest in ice
ages, also called glaciations, has increased.
