1. PREPARE A LIST: 31
PREPARE A TO-DO-LIST OF THE ITEMS YOU NEED FOR THE MAIN WORKSHOP, INCLUDING ALL THE SIGN BOARDS AND
POSTERS REMINDING THE WORKERS OF THE SAFETY TO BE CONSIDERED IN THE WORKPLACE. POINT OUT THE
PREREQUISITE AND FACILITIES REQUIRED TO BE USED IN THE WORKPLACE. A LIST OF SAFE AND SMART PROCEDURES
AROUND THE WORKPLACE IS THE MOST FORGOTTEN PREREQUISITE. PUT UP AN EVACUATION PLAN, TO GUIDE THE
STAFF TO THE NEAREST EXIT IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. CONSTANTLY KEEP REMINDING THEM ABOUT DRAINAGE PIPES,
FUSE BOXES AND CONCEALED STAIRCASE. INSPECT YOUR LOCAL AND STATE SAFETY AUTHORIZATION. PURCHASE AND
STORE ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF FIRE EXTINGUISHER. IT’S EASY TO IGNORE HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES IN WORKING
ENVIRONMENT. STAFF OFTEN HAVE A BUSY SCHEDULE AND FORGET TO WASH THEIR HANDS FREQUENTLY. TO ENSURE
STAFF’S HEALTHINESS, GOOD SANITATION PROGRAMS SHOULD BE INTRODUCED. IT IS IMPORTANT ESPECIALLY IN AN
OPEN OFFICE, OR IN THE OUTLETS WHERE PEOPLE MOVE AROUND A LOT. TO ENSURE SAFETY AND HEALTH MEASURES,
BY REMINDING THE STAFF TO LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER. EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO TAKE CERTAIN SICK
LEAVES. 31
2. INCLUDE YOUR WORKERS ON HEALTH POLICY DECISIONS 31
3. INVEST IN QUALITY CHAIRS OR STANDING DESKS 31
4. PREPARE FOR EMERGENCIES 31
5. TAKE A BREAK 32
ALWAYS ENSURE THAT YOU TAKE A BREAK FROM YOUR BUSY SCHEDULE AND MOVE AROUND FOR 20 MINS OR SO TO
FRESHEN YOUR MIND OR LOOK AT ANYTHING ELSE LIKE YOUR COMPUTER, TO SAVE YOUR EYES AND MIND FROM
TROUBLE. 32
6. OFFER INCENTIVES 32
THE MAIN REWARD FOR THE STAFF IS THE INCENTIVES. YOU SHOULD BOOST YOUR STAFF TO FREQUENTLY LOOK FOR
SAFETY HAZARDS AND TO LOOK AROUND FOR ANY DANGER IN THE OFFICE. OFFER WEEKLY, MONTHLY REWARDS,
EVERY TIME YOU GO WITHOUT ANY INCIDENTS. ASKING THE STAFF TO HELP ENSURE ORDERLINESS IN YOUR AREA. 32
YOU SHOULD BE READY TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY AS WELL. MAKE CERTAIN RULES AND MAKE SURE TO MAINTAIN
QUALITY AND SAFETY CONTROLS. KEEP FREQUENT MEETINGS TO KEEP YOUR STAFF REMINDED OF ANY ALTERATION TO
POLICIES AND NEW STANDARDS TO THE PROTOCOL FOR SAFETY. 32

The need for recycled steel:

Steel rods are even used in scaffoldings. Steel reinforcement bar is also known as rebar,
reinforcing bar, reinforcing steel and reinforcement steel. It is a versatile constructional
material which is widely used in the construction industry for making of the reinforced
concrete. Reinforcement concrete (RC) is a composite material made up of concrete and
some form of reinforcement – most commonly steel rods, bars, wires or mesh of steel rods
and steel wires. The steel reinforcement bars usually consist of such shape and size that
they may easily be bent and placed in the concrete to form a monolithic structure.

We selected steel due to its advantages:

 Steel scaffolding provides a steady and firm standing. Steel scaffolding can bear the
load and the pressure, be it heavy rain or intense wind. As a matter of fact, steel will be
standing as robust as ever even in dire circumstances like that of an earthquake.
 If required, steel has the capacity to withstand a complete lifespan. When compared
to other materials, steel scaffolding has a longer durability.
 Steel Scaffold can be easily assembled and dismantled and it increases the work
efficiency.
 The leftover steel is the needed raw material that is utilized for scaffolding.
Therefore, it helps in solving the problem of waste material and promotes a greener
environment. In contrast, if scaffolding is done using wood, we would be soon lacking
trees, which are very important for our survival and beautifies our planet (Earth).
Why scaffolding:
Scaffolding is an assembly of varied materials or components like tubes, couplers or frames
to form a scaffold. A Scaffold is a short-term edifice made to support the platforms in which
the workers of a construction area to work safely. This scaffold will allow workers to work in
a safe and secure platform when the work is done on a floor higher than the ground or the
final floor of a building.
Scaffolding is commonly used in the construction and maintenance sectors where platforms
will be used to build or repair a structure of various floors. For the maintenance sector,
scaffolds will be used during the re-painting of a building or even repairing balconies of
residential apartments or even hotels. For the construction sector, scaffolds will be used
during the construction phase where the workers will be creating the various floors above
the ground. These platforms will help the workers move freely, safely and also will help
them to work in a stable environment. Additionally, scaffolds are also used in construction
of cranes.

There are several types of scaffolding used in the

market:
Supported Scaffolding:
These are the most common type of scaffolding used all over the world. It is built from the
base all the way to the required level. It can also be used almost anywhere. This type of
scaffolding is most suitable, stable, cost-effective and probably the easiest to construct in a
short time’s notice. There are different variants of this type of scaffolding in the market
optimized for the clients’ preferences.

Suspended Scaffolding:
This type of scaffolding is usually made to suspend from a roof or a crane in some cases. It is
used when it is not possible to build a supported scaffold or it is impossible to have scaffolds
connected from one floor to another. This type of scaffolding is used for window cleaning or
for maintenance of the exteriors parts of structures.

Rolling Scaffolding:
Rolling Scaffolding is comparatively like supported scaffolding although it uses “castor style
wheels” which allows the base to move. This type of scaffolding is most useful when there is
work which must be completed over a long distance.
Mobile Scaffolding:
Mobile scaffolds are multiple scaffold units which are semi-permanent in nature. They can
be made and then taken apart to be moved to another location where they will be set-up
again. Although mobile scaffolds are safe and are constructed properly, they can be a
potential hazard in a construction area due to the multiple numbers of units.

Aerial Lifts:
This type of scaffolding is a lift which is used in areas where workers accesses various levels
in a building. This lift is beneficial for easily transporting both workers and building materials
used for the construction of the building project. Scaffolds are mostly in the form of metals
and it is comprised of three parts.

Standards:
These are the vertical tubes which are found all over the structure and help to make it
vertical. They help transfer the load of the structure to the ground via a square base plate.

Ledgers:
These are tubes which are horizontal in nature and they help connect the standards to keep
the structure stable.

Transoms:
These are horizontal tubes put across and perpendicular to the ledgers to provide more
strength to the structure and support the platforms on the various levels in the scaffold.
Marketing:

What is our marketing strategy?

The plan here is to start up with generating a website because it produces more amounts of
clients in many areas specifically in the native areas; it is less expensive in comparison of
other modes of marketing also generating a website will give a better professional approach
which is very important for viable work, It is essential to make sure to have proper detailed
presentation of previously worked jobs (Scaffolding related) and to maintain competition
with companies that have similar jobs of the same field.

– Social Media Marketing:

• Facebook- Creating a free and simple business page.
• Twitter- In Twitter you can perform different searches to have
knowledge about the ongoing projects around through which you
can introduce the company with few tweets and offer different
packages or facilities which would catch the attention of the
company
• LinkedIn- Through this application you can maintain business
to business relationships with companies to gain projects from them.

– Advertisements through Pay Per

Click(PPC):
Having this method for a start-up company isn’t bad and
is very beneficial as it can lead clients directly to your
website, the biggest advantage for adverting through this
method is that the payment that you have to make will
only be processed after a user has visited the website,
therefore it is essential to make sure that the advert
should be in the proper operations so the user who visit
the website are actually the ones in need.
– Building Networks through Various Events:
Locally trying to network in events is a positive method to collect data on companies that
might require the service offered, the preference here should be only the events where you
can find potential clients through this not only it can give a tough fight to competitors, but
the company services can freely be presented, through this platform questions can be
answered and a brief idea on customer expectation will be fulfilled.

– Offline Advertisement:
 Leaflet Drops
 Customer Calling
 Unique Offers varies customer
to customer
 Media – News Chanel and Press
releases

– Media Marketing:
Making sure to promote on advertisement boards to gain more attention, adverting
through broadcasting of ads of the services which is been going on since ages this is
due to the high number of people and on
television that results in having a reputed name.
• ROI-This is an expensive way to market
but can be very beneficial this process can
also be improved by professionalism in the
mail list, directly mail campaigning will show
a huge influence
• It is very important to be aware of your
clients’ needs and demands and it gives
considerable success to the business.
SWOT Analysis:
Name of the Company- AL HIDAYA METAL WORKS

We have summarised the important parts of swot analysis in the above

picture. Below we have explained in detail about the four stages of SWOT.

Strengths-
Al Hidaya Metal works will be advantageous mainly because of two reasons we will be
producing good quality at a low cost keeping in consideration the current market situation
as this company look for less but long term profit and also because this company will initiate
to do things differently in comparison to the competitors, provide services in many other
unique ways to satisfy the clients and gain more project also the production rate for the
company is higher so it doesn’t matter what quantity to do clients want it will be delivered
to them on spot and in the quickest way possible.
Weakness-
Having a weak amount of money it will be difficult to make a name in the market most of
the funded money will be gone into the technical work which leave a very low amount of
money for marketing and advertising the company therefore this solution can be avoided if
an addition in the member of boards takes place so that the investment money increase the
companies budget and in terms of advertisement collaborations in different ways that can
be done in lower cost or sponsorship that can be taken care by the marketing team, In order
to create a good name in the market networking is very important and must be taken care
off, having a marketing team will require a higher and prominent budget.

Opportunities-
The current crisis has forced companies to go for services that have a cheaper cost but what
they mainly look at is the quality of the service giving the option of both manual and
automatic machines companies that can vary the time by which they want the order or
production to be ready, coming up with unique method of producing scaffold will result in a
new pathway to further create more opportunities.

Threats-
The Amount of companies around the globe that provide different services, the big threat
here is that the clients might hire or look for companies in different countries for cost
cutting reasons and the mindset ,they prefer contacting companies in foreign countries
considering the currency factor and many more things and second treat here is due to the
new ways of production of scaffolding happening in foreign countries like in term of three
dimensional products that have a higher risk to be attracted by clients.
PESTLE ANALYSIS:

POLITICAL EFFECTS-

The Establishments of the various rules by the government

leads to a political effect in a business, the entire process and
working of the company changes due to minor changes in the
law this also causes an effect in the profit a company can
make so therefore it is important to obey and fulfil the rules
ordered by the government.
Marketing Reagent-
Rules made by the government can alternate the performance socially in the business
atmosphere, for instance, introduction of tax charges in various business aspects related to
scaffolding, the law can also introduce different technologies that will create definite
changes, this increase or introduction of taxes will fortunately result in losing investors.

ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS:
The main objective of UAE’s development policies regarding environmental protection is
aimed at increasing green environment, improving marine environment and controlling air
pollution and preserving fisheries and livestock.

The government of UAE has a set of legislations to make sure sustainable environment,

To follow such rules and regulations, the UAE government has introduced many federal laws
to preserve the environment.
Regional and Environmental convections signed by the UAE to prevent the
environment are as follows:

 Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer

 Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer
 Basel Convention on the Control of Trans-Boundary Movements of Hazardous
Wastes and Their Disposal
 United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification
 Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain
Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade
 Convention on Biological Diversity
 Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants
 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
 Kyoto Protocol to the UN Convention on Climate Change
 Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora -
CITES
 Convention on Wetlands of International Importance - Ramsar
 International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants
 Minamata Convention on Mercury
 Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals
 Kuwait Regional Convention for Cooperation and Protection of Marine Environment
from Pollution and its Protocols
 International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (1973G.) as
amended by Protocol MARPOL (1978G.).

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS:

The aim of spreading environmental awareness is to develop the culture of society by

promoting environmental behaviour of every individuals to conserve and manage natural
resources.

The main departments who look after environmental protection organize educational
campaigns or tours at the local or federal agency to conduct such campaigns. The slogans or
campaigns held are based on the needs of community of UAE in areas which mainly requires
environmental awareness and education.

Efforts have been put up to include Environmental education in Schools and universities to
aware the younger and upcoming generation about the threats which can be caused by
environmental depletion.
Involvement of global stakeholders in promoting environmental knowledge, The Echo
School Initiative has been launched, A global initiative led by the emirates wildlife society in
collaboration WWF (World wildlife fund for nature). Who aims to encourage environmental
activities in schools and universities?

SOCIAL EFFECT:
It is very important for the company to have a
positive social effect on the community and
environment around it. And to have a positive
social effect companies have to deliver good
quality at good price so that the customers and
community around are satisfied.

For example, when planning to start a new metal or steel recycling company the location
should not be anywhere close to residential areas because when such companies operate
they have noise pollution and setting it up somewhere close to residential areas would have
a negative impact on the environment and community around. Every company should give
priority to their customers and the community around it and its wellbeing.

TECHNOLOGICAL EFFECT
There are a lot of technological enhancements all around the world and all of them have a
major effect on businesses of almost all kinds. Majority of the businesses are affected in
several ways some of the main effects are stated and explained below: -

 Increase in production (automation, online marketing)

 Keeping track of inventory (barcode or RFID systems)
 Cutting cost (outsourcing)

With the help of automated machines companies can increase their production rate and it
already has affect the production rate compared to 19th century when there were not much
technological enhancements. Technology has given businesses a whole new platform which
is online marketing which aids in increasing the sales and reaching the maximum customers
when compared to the traditional methods of marketing. Companies can now track their
inventory using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology by just placing a microchip
on the product. It saves the company the cost of extra employees and it also saves up a lot
of time. Barcodes also plays a vital role when it
comes to identifying the product as it cannot be
duplicated.

Technology also help the companies to save a lot

of extra cost. One of the main example is that it
helps the company for outsourcing the employees
from anywhere in the world for any job such as
programing a software for the company or
telephone customer service etc.

LEGAL EFFECTS:

It is very important to make sure to be up to date with the government laws, as we all know
that the government can change the rules and regulation regarding to business from time to
time. We can keep in touch be visiting government websites time to time or reading through
different business articles, by this we can take hold and have the knowledge of basic
business laws. In many cases the regulations obligated by the government authorities
maybe classified into three main categories:

 Taxes

 Bureaucratic and international trade

 Employee relations

Changes in the business laws can lead to changes in the way to operate business, Taxation

is one of the main reasons which can affect the business directly, because it directly

depends on the amount of money earned by all business.

The relation of employee to employer or employer to employee in any way can affect

business laws, it is mandatory for employers to follow all the set of government laws and

regulations and stick in terms with the hiring system to hire an employee.

A company must follow certain rules and regulations when it comes to international trade.

These rules and regulations are strict in terms of products being imported and exported

internationally. There are parties that take part in international trade also have to follow

certain guidelines enforced by international trade rules and regulations. It is recommended

to appoint a business lawyer who has a better knowledge in terms with rules and

regulations of the government, as it is quite challenging for a person who lacks all the laws

and regulation related to a specific business. Hence it is very important to understand

different laws by state, locally or country. As a right person appointment for such a task

which will guide the company towards success and profits without breaking any laws or

regulations.

Before starting up a business it is mandatory to get all the license and permits approved by

the government, to prevent from getting into illegal terms.

Economic Effect:
These effects a business in many good and bad ways despite being a recurring industry it has
a huge effect on making a decision when it comes to investing in a new real-estate, This
explains that it becomes more powerful while economic improvements or development and
the small scale business take heavy advantage of the situation that occurs while economic
weakness

Strong Economy-
This will help increases profits of each individual which will provide an increase in the
business income, Innovative youthful entrepreneurs take advantage of this factor and
therefore open up the business

Weak Economy-
This is the reverse of the strong economy, the less revenue needs heavy and much higher
investment as well as expenses increase

Counter-Cyclical Considerations
Responding to Economic Trends
CORPORATE SETUP:

We have chosen to set-up our business in UAE. As UAE’s economy has been growing in the
past years and reached a point where people call it paradise city.

We will be setting up our business in Ras Al Khaimah as the setting up laws are
comparatively less compared to free zones, therefore reducing our cost for new set up.
Since Our Company is for Recycling of Scrap metals and re-use them for creating Scaffolding
used majorly in construction and other technical industries. It is a temporary structure made
by assembling toe boards, diagonal braces, universal jack, couplers, ledgers, decking and
infill beam to create a scaffolding which will be placed next to the original structure (i.e. for
example wall of construction building) to support the original structure as well as
construction workers use it as a platform to carry on the construction works such as
painting, drilling, fall-ceiling works etc.

Types of scaffolding vary with the type of construction work. Scaffolding is made up of
timber or steel. We focus more on steel, since we are working with recycling of steel. It
should be stable and strong to support workers and other construction material placed on
it.

Benefits of land over free zone areas:

1. Ease of transportation, close to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed road. Therefore, less
permissions for drivers passing on highways.
2. Cost efficient compared to other states. We have selected our set up place as umm
al Quwain as it is cheaper to other states.
3. As umm al Quwain is still developing and since it’s a new area therefore there are
less regulations and less permissions required for set up.
Plot Details

TOTAL PLOTS = 2
TOTAL AREA = 143065 SQ.FT
PLOT LOCATION = RAS AL KHAIMAH
PRICE FOR EACH SQUARE FEET = 57 AED
TOTAL COST = 8.2MILLION AED
SIZE OF EACH PLOT = 71532.48 SQ.FT
COST OF SINGLE PLOT = 4.1 MILLION AED

We have decided to select only one plot as per our requirements as we do not require two
plots to set up our business. In the coming years as our profit and income will soar up we
will expand our business by purchasing the second plot, buying several machines, therefore
increasing our profit.
Required licenses:
We would require permission from the “Department of Economic Development” because
we will use the metal obtained from scrap and re-shape them as per client requirements for
further processing so this involves emission of harmful chemicals and gaseous, So the
Department of Economic Development monitors the amount of chemicals and gaseous that
could be possibly emitted into the atmosphere and according to that results Provides the
Licenses and also suggests machineries which have low emission rate and minimize the
amount of pollution into the atmosphere.
Our Company Would Require one more such license which is from “Environmental licence
for development or infrastructure project”
It takes around 10 working days for the license to issue, if no environmental study is
requested by the authority.
Documents required for Environmental License:
 Letter from Owner of Project
 Map of Project/Plant Location
 Location maps in PDF, JPG, KMZ or GIF Format
 GIS ordinates
 Deputation Letter
 License from Economic Development (DED)

Some regulations we need to follow while business start-up:

1. We need to get a local sponsor who will have no share in the company who will be
paid a fixed stipend of 10,000/yearly.
2. BCC (building completion certificate) and police health and safety management
certificate will be provided by the contractor upon completion.

Process of manufacture:

Process of manufacture has been explained in the next step:

The process of manufacturing starts with the raw material breakdown where the list of
materials in the inventory are checked and separated accordingly. De-coiling the steel
metals by unwinding a larger coil to make it have a flat characteristic and cutting it to make
into rectangular sheets. Straightening will include heating the metal and giving it a more
straight and flat finish, it is necessary because of all the deformation and manifestation it
has gone through.
Shearing is a process in which sheets are cut to have a larger roll stock after which welding
take place that involves heat and pressure working tog on the metal making them joined by
heating two weld ends using a weld plate under a specific a pressure. The sheet is looped
into the pit making desired dimensioned pieces of sheets.
Sizing the metals to their desired diameter and lengths, the machines do the work of
bending, folding and to reach its intended form. Resisting welding welds one metal to
another using pressure and heat together. Testing the metals and acknowledging their
capabilities that it can withstand. The chamfering process makes the material have a
smooth finish by removing sharp material edges. Now the assembly of the scaffolding
material takes place by sawing the metal sheets and pipes also using a sizing mill to correctly
shape the sheets and pipes to their precise measurements.
Painting the outer layer of the metal sheets and pipes to avoid corrosion and giving a glossy
look. Threading of the pipes is a process done to attach and seal two types pipes making it
strongly fixed. Packaging the metal pipes and sheets so that they can easily be transported
and stored in an effectively to avoid any damages.

Sustainability:
As our company needs to be environmental friendly because a company which takes care of
the environment is always preferred by people. Scaffolding has several ways to eco-friendly:
Firstly, using steel as a scaffolding material and due to its properties, it is strong and safe for
people who are using it and it will last longer. The structure
of the scaffolding can be taken apart easily which makes it
easier to use it elsewhere therefore this can save cost of
purchasing steel again. Storing the steel in suitable weather
condition will help it last longer.

Steel is recyclable as it cannot rust and break easily but it can

be melted to be used for other purposes. The reusing of the steel can be done as many time
as desired still giving the same characteristics as before reusing it. The durability is long
lasting with very low maintenance needed as it is very strong, but it can corrode in a marine
environment which can be prevented by power coating it or painting it in a timely manner
to keep it in its top condition.
It is essential to make scaffolding with the required
specification to avoid any safety issues because it is used in
high rise and building, bridges and bridge work for building
ship these are just a few examples to know that without
steel all these projects would just be on the drawing board.
Steel is made from iron ore and mining iron ore which may
not sound environmental friendly, but it is an important
need for people and there are several ways the company adopts which can reduce the
effects on the environment such as reducing dust and refiling the land with good soil which
will help it gain its original property thus making it suitable for animals or humans after the
mining processes.
Risks:
While setting up a business there are many types of risks involved, Such as:

1. Strategic risk
2. Compliance risk
3. Operational risk
4. Financial risk
5. Reputational risk

The risks stated above can lead to major financial losses and even bankruptcy. Majority of
the multinational and large companies always include a department related to Risk
Management But on the other hand small business ventures do not consider such
management departments due to the small scale they work on.

Below all the major types of risks and their effects on the businesses are explained

1. Strategic Risks:

Strategic Risks is when the company’s strategy becomes less efficient and the company
struggles to accomplish its goals and meet its deadlines, it can be caused due to many
factors such as:

 Technological Advancements
 New competitors in the supply market
 Rise in the prices of Raw materials
 Sudden change of market demand

Therefore, it is important to take strategic risks seriously and to adjust to those changes and
failure to adapt to a strategic risk eventually leads to bankruptcy.

2. Compliance Risk:

When a company fails to comply with all the rules and regulations of the government or any
large responsible authorities, then it eventually faces compliance risk. This risk can occur
anytime during the new setup of the company and when it’s functioning.
Some of the factors due to which companies face compliance risk are as follows:

 Change in Rules and Regulations.

 Amendments in the law.
 Introduction of corporate taxes.

As the business expands, it might be required to comply with the additional rules and
regulations, but due to lack of awareness a company does not comply with additional rules
and regulations, the company might face huge fines and these things present a compliance
risk to the business.

3. Operational Risk:

Operational risks can be the failure of the company’s day-to-day operations, through which
the company is planned to achieve its target. Failure of the operations department can
cause huge losses to the company and affect the reputation of the company.

Operational Risks can be caused due to:

 Technical Error
 Unsatisfied Employees
 Process Failure
 Natural Phenomena

Anything that can interrupt the company’s main operations department can be considered
as operational risks and it can have an enormous impact on the company.

4. Financial Risk:

Financial risk refers to the cash flow in and out of the business, and the probability of losses
that can occur in the business, these risks can occur anytime between the functioning of the
company, and lead to bankruptcy.

The factors that may cause Financial Risks are:

 Overtime Credits to suppliers or clients.

 Large amount of loans from banks.
 Escalation of interest rates on loans taken from banks.
 Fluctuation of international currencies.
A company should be fully aware of the financial risks that can occur anytime, and be
prepared to face any types of financial crisis. This can be only avoided by regularly
monitoring the accounts department, Bank statements and cash flow in and out of the
company.

5. Reputational Risk:

Reputation is a crucial factor to be considered when it comes to any kind of business

because it can leave a negative impression of the company on the customers, suppliers and
even its own employees.

Some common factors that cause reputation risk are stated below: -

 Failure to pay the employees

 Failure to pay the debts
 Faulty products
 Lack of work ethic

A company should always keep a heads up for reputational risk because once the reputation
is damaged it leaves negative side effects on the business. If the reputation is damaged it
forces the customers and suppliers that deal with that company to reconsider their business
with the company which directly effects the revenue of the company, even the employees
that work for the company loses their motivation to work and might even quit their jobs.
The new potential candidates will never apply for a job at company with bad reputation.

Reputational risk is a serious matter and should be taken seriously as the saying goes
“Prevention is better than cure”.

6. Political Risk:

Especially if the company is set up in a country with democracy there is a very high
political risk involved during elections and change in governments. That period is
usually very unstable for majority of the businesses and poses a political risk to the
business as with the change in government rules and regulations might me amended
or new laws might be imposed so the company should be up-to-date with the
changes in law and political changes.
Safety Measures

1. Prepare a list:

Prepare a To-do-list of the items you need for the main workshop, including all the sign
boards and posters reminding the workers of the safety to be considered in the workplace.
Point out the prerequisite and facilities required to be used in the workplace. A list of safe
and smart procedures around the workplace is the most forgotten prerequisite. Put up an
evacuation plan, to guide the staff to the nearest exit in case of emergency. Constantly keep
reminding them about drainage pipes, fuse boxes and concealed staircase. Inspect your
local and state safety authorization. Purchase and store adequate amount of fire
extinguisher. It’s easy to ignore health and safety measures in working environment. Staff
often have a busy schedule and forget to wash their hands frequently. To ensure staff’s
healthiness, good sanitation programs should be introduced. It is important especially in an
open office, or in the outlets where people move around a lot. To ensure safety and health
measures, by reminding the staff to look out for each other. Employees should be allowed
to take certain sick leaves.

2. Include your workers on health policy decisions

You should keep motivating your employees regularly and ask them to participate health
and safety events. Hiring health and safety organizations to conduct surveys which will
remind them about the risk of ignoring health and safety involvement in the workplace.

3. Invest in quality chairs or standing desks

Apart from the workplace, it is mandatory to ensure safety in the offices too. It is not
necessary to make or prepare fancy charts or sign-boards. You should also ensure there is a
good seating arrangement in the offices, you should also provide cautious signals near the
electrical areas. The World Health Organization says: "Physical dormancy has been
recognized as the fourth driving danger factor for worldwide mortality causing an expected
3.2 million deaths all worldwide.”

4. Prepare for emergencies

In a panic situation, you wouldn’t not look for safety apparatus, and same might happen for
the employees too. Owners need to keep footmark of necessary tasks like storing a fire
extinguisher, specifying exits, outlining evacuation paths, and positioning emergency
numbers.

Ensure to maintain sanitation practices in your offices. Also ensure that your employees
wash their hands regularly and these signs can help in increasing compliances. Post these
important signs near the entrances, restrooms, fire extinguishers and the exits.
These equipment’s may be required, and you may never know how important they are in
case of emergency. These signs should be posted before any emergency arises and not
when the accidents have already occurred.

You also may require planning how to act about during the accidents and emergencies.
Once you ensure that the employees are fine health wise, you need to make them aware
about what you expect from them, and what they are anticipated to do to achieve your
goals.

5. Take a break
Always ensure that you take a break from your busy schedule and move around for 20 mins
or so to freshen your mind or look at anything else like your computer, to save your eyes
and mind from trouble.

Moving around and keep yourselves away from the computer or the counter will help to
concentrate elsewhere, which will help you to be alert.

6. Offer incentives
The main reward for the staff is the incentives. You should boost your staff to frequently
look for safety hazards and to look around for any danger in the office. Offer weekly,
monthly rewards, every time you go without any incidents. Asking the staff to help ensure
orderliness in your area.

You should be ready to take accountability as well. Make certain rules and make sure to
maintain quality and safety controls. Keep frequent meetings to keep your staff reminded of
any alteration to policies and new standards to the protocol for safety.

7. Release some stress

Workers may worry about certain things and you may not be knowing that, so try to help
your employees to solve their problems or issues. if you are unable to give them time for
such conversations, then hire an HR coordinator, to make sure your staff knows there is
someone they can always speak to for any concerns. Make sure you achieve your goals.

Ensuring safety and health measures for employees helps to avoid accidents and injuries.
This will help to earn increased productivity and output at your workplace.
Risk Assessment

Risk assessment is an analysis of a risk related to the usage of different machinery, working
in an industrial environment. In industrial companies such as our company, risks are
something which should be looked upon. Risk related to the usage of machinery to knowing
the safety rules and regulations.
Risk assessment is followed by identification of visible and implied hazards that may
threaten the project, and determining the qualitative nature of the potential adverse
consequences of each hazard.

The following are the risk assessments of the machinery’s we will be using and what steps
our company will be taking to decrease the potential risks.

Welding machines:

Our company will be using 5 welding machinery’s:

1 Standard ledger welding machine
2 Base jack welding machine
3 Cup-lock welding machines
4 Prop welding machine
5 DC welding rectifiers.

Electrical shocks is one of the most serious and immediate risks facing a welder. Having an
electrical shock can lead to severe injury or death, either from the shock itself or from the
fall caused by the reaction of the shock.
Fumes and gases are produced during the welding process. And overexposure to welding
fumes and gases can be hazardous to the health of the labours. Welding fumes contains
potentially harmful complex compounds from consumables, base metal coatings.
Fire and explosions is also one of the main concerns when using the welding machines. The
welding arc reaches out to extreme temperatures, and may pose significant fire and
explosions hazard if safe practises are not followed.
Injuries from insufficient PPE (Personal protective equipment) is also one of the main
concerns our company must look under to. Lack of usage of PPE will eventually result into
harmful injuries to the employees working near the machines.
Measures taken to avoid such risks:

Welding operators should wear dry gloves in good conditions, never touch the electrode or
metal parts of the electrode with skin or wet clothing and be sure to insulate themselves
from the work and ground, keeping dry insulation between their body and the metal being.
Welding areas will be required to have adequate ventilation and local exhaust to keep
fumes from the breathing zone and the general area. The working area will be equipped
with adequate ventilation like fans, exhaust system etc.
For the case of fire and explosions, fire extinguishers will be placed in near by to the
machines. The workers will be elaborated on the fire exits in the factory.

Drilling, Cutting Lathe Machines:

Contact with the revolving cutters can be one of the major hazard which should be looked
onto. Having long hair, loose clothing which can become entangled in the moving parts of
the machine can be very hazardous.
Such machines can cause electrical shocks. Heavy objects such as vices and index fixtures
can fall from the table. Contact with cutting fluids, oil and grease can irritate skin. Lack of
sufficient space around such machinery can lead to the operator being pushed by passers-by
resulting in injuries. Manual handling of heavy items such as vices and index fixtures can be
a hazard.

Measures taken to avoid such risks:

Usage of switchgear will be implemented with a means of isolation using a fused switch
disconnector on or adjacent to the machine. Machines in this area will be isolated “out of
hours” to stop unauthorised use.
All cabling will be armoured to protect it from damage.
A suitable factory layout will be taken to above unnecessary crowding near the machines.
Safety marking will be placed around the machines, so that the workers know where to
stand while working.
As our company is a whole working family, we like to keep a good relationship with the
workers and other employee’s as well as teach them what is right and wrong and especially
all the safety teachings while working in a machine-driven company.

We will be holding safety talks regarding the usage of these machines every once in 3
months, so that the labours remind themselves of their safety precautions and do a good
deed.
We will also be holding award ceremony’s every once in 2 months for the workers, awarding
them for how safely they work in our company by abiding all the rules and regulations in our
company. We see that doing such a practise will engage all the workers in becoming the
best of their group and hence making the workspace safe.

We were able to find the cost of scrap by visiting Al-Ahli metal trading company which is suited in
Sharjah industrial area 6 was to find out what kind of scrap metal do they sell and find the cost of it.

We went to the company and we met the supervisor of the company. He showed us a variety of
scrap metal which he has. We were looking for old steel pipes and sheets which can be used for
scaffolding we did find a lot of steel pipes and sheets. Later he told us that the price of the material
which we are going to take is AED 1800 per ton. We will be taking 27 tonnes of scrap pipe on a daily
basis that brings it to about 135 tonnes a week. So, to collect the material we need to bring our own
pick up to collect the material and pay the money to the supervisor.

Rate equation, the actual number of units produced will be:
R p =R max (1−Rd )

Where Rmax is the number of units produced in a day,

And Rd is the defect rate

So R p =2960(1−0.05) = 2812 Units per Day

done by
Steel scaffolding provides a steady and firm standing,
steel will be standing as robust in most circumstances. Bevan
Steel has the capacity to withstand a complete lifespan. and
When compared to other materials, steel scaffolding has a vaibhav
longer durability.
Steel Scaffold can be easily assembled and dismantled
and it increases the work efficiency.
The leftover steel is the raw material that is utilized for
scaffolding. Therefore, it helps in solving the problem of
waste material and promotes a sustainable environment.
In comparison, if scaffolding is done using wood, we would
have a shortage of trees, which are very important for our
survival. Steel does not require cutting and wasting of
trees.
