CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter includes the data gathering instruments, general procedure, statistical treatment,
research design, that will be applied and will be used throughout the study.

Sources of Data and Information

In order for this study to be possible and effectively-deployed, the researchers have utilized
specific data-gathering materials, more specifically some survey sheets that were answered by
the chosen respondents from grade 10 to grade 12. The response and views acquired from this
specific survey-interview has been included in the data-gathering materials.

The survey sheet contained three questions that will be answered by choosing the
corresponding answers for the respondents.

Results and Discussions

Data Analysis
The results taken from the survey were generalized and concluded so as to determine the

cause and effects of depression to teenagers these days and their of overcoming it.

This figure states the sexuality of the respondents, it shows that there are more female

respondents that has a percentage of 67% than the male respondents that has a percentage of

33%.

respondents’ depression.

Thinking 16
The table above shows the factors that may cause depression to teenagers. The thinking

affects the respondents most that got 16/16 as the result. While the other presented factors got

0/16

The table above shows the result for the effects of depression to the respondents. Based

on the data the most common effect of depression to teenagers is “tiredness or loss of energy”.

Followed by “feeling of sadness”. While “frequent thought of death” got the least with 2/16 as

the final result.

Listen to music 13

For the result for the ways of the respondents/ teenagers on overcoming depression,

here’s the data. Most of the respondents way of overcoming depression is through listening to

FINDINGS, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Findings

This study led to significant findings obtained throughout the whole study. The researchers

have found the following:

1. The most common cause of depression to teenagers nowadays are the way think. Teenagers

tends to overthink and it often leads them to anxiety and next to depression.

2. When it comes to the effects, many have said that the effect of depression to them is having

the feeling of tiredness or loss of energy all the time. One of the most common effects too is

being extremely sad.

3. Among the 5 given possible ways on dealing or overcoming depression, 81% have said that

listening to music helps them to overcome depression. Also watching funny videos and TV

shows helps them. Some have said that sharing their problems to their trusted people also helps

them.

Conclusion

1. We concluded that teenagers are very

prone to depression.

2. Thinking too much about a certain

thing causes the depression of most of

the students of AMEC High School.

3. The students or respondents have their

own way of dealing or overcoming

depression.

4. The respondents are not suffering

from serious depression, because only

few of them thinks about suicide.

Recommendations

The researchers recommended that they could’ve had introduced or discussed depression to

the respondents so that they will have enough knowledge about this case. So that they can
