SW 7.0 is required to operate the new
NIV plus option, offering sophisticated
mask ventilation with:
– Standby Plus (Auto wake-up)
– Leakage compensation up to 180 l/min
– Anti-Air-Shower function (automatic
flow reduction during disconnection)
Inspiratory termination [% PIF]
The adjustable setting of “Inspiratory termi-
nation [% PIF]” is designed to optimize
synchrony between the spontaneous effort
sequence and the pressure supported
breath. Each supported breath is termi-
nated at the set percentage of the actual
maximum inspiratory flow. [% PIF] can be
set from 5 to 70 % with increments of 1 %.

Lock of I:E ratio
In the past, in order to keep the
I:E ratio constant, it was necessary to
sequentially adjust the settings f and Tinsp .
With SW 7.0, the button “I:E constant”
links these two parameters. If one para-
meter is changed, the other is adapted
simultaneously to maintain a constant I:E
ratio. This new functionality facilitates

application of inverse ratio ventilation
virtually impossible.
QuickSet and PressureLink
With QuickSet®, a change in settings of
Pinsp. and PEEP is directly effective when
modified without the need for confirming
each incremental step. With SW 7.0 the
PressureLink®, enables PEEP and Pinsp.
to be adjusted simultaneously. In some
recruitment procedures it is required
to keep the pressure difference constant.
The combination of the functions Quick-
Set® and PressureLink® allows the care-
giver to do incremental changes of the set-
tings without the need to confirm each
individual adjustment.

It helps to prevent ventilator induced
PEEPi as long as a minimal expiration of 4-
5 x Taue is assured. The time is given
in [msec] and measured after 63 % of the
volume that has been exhaled.
The value (ftrig) displays the amount
of triggered breaths per minute. It is a valu-
able indicator about the patient’s sponta-
neous breathing activity and helps to
decide whether the patient can be extubat-
ed.
Oxygen therapy
With SW 7.0, „Oxygen therapy“ is now
a standard function in the Evita XL,
providing accurate oxygen flow therapy
via mask or nasal prong. The availability
of invasive and non-invasive ventilation
together with oxygen therapy in one
device, helps to improve workflow.
