CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE

“Our mission translates into delivering an outstanding learning

experience that truly transforms the student into a sophisticated
manager and a responsible corporate citizen.”
DEAR MBA ASPIRANT,

Greetings. Choices are never easy. Every time one has to make a buying decision, there are options to consider, research to be done,
assessments, evaluations and reviews to read, and a significant amount of time and effort expended in understanding what we ‘need’ from the
product and identifying that specific product that gives us the best ‘value’ for money. Imagine therefore the exponential difficulty in making the
decision to spend two years of your time, away from your family, in order to up-skill and learn? You cannot afford to make mistakes given all that
is at stake here. Therefore, in an effort to make this decision a tiny bit easier for you, we have put together an elaborate account of what Great
Lakes is all about. In the following pages, you will find ample information about what makes us unique and in what ways your time spent with us
is certain to benefit you.

To give you a gist – you are looking to enroll into a premier B-School, ranked among the best in the country, with a great campus and excellent
infrastructure, cutting-edge academic rigor, world-class faculty, course offerings with prestigious accreditations and affiliations, etc. All of these
are par for the course. So, what sets Great Lakes apart? What makes us distinct?

As a firm believer in the principle of customer astonishment, one of the core values of Great Lakes is to astonish our customers (a.k.a you!) who
come to us seeking a specific learning experience. Our mission therefore translates into delivering an outstanding learning experience (through
a state-of-the art curriculum, rounded off by a variety of extra-curricular activities) that truly transforms the student into a sophisticated
manager and a responsible corporate citizen. At the core of our corporate DNA is our commitment to learning and skill development as a
continuous process. We are keenly aware that the quality of the learning outcome is measured not by the effectiveness of problem solving, but
by how successful initiatives can lead to sustainability, stability and progress.

At Great Lakes, you will learn the art of doing business while at the same time understanding the impact of said business on the community.
You will become well-versed with the best and next practices, trends and economics, technology in all its glorious manifestations, inclusivity &
impact and so much more. Add to this, a heterogeneous cohort bringing a heady mix of cultural, academic and professional experience to the
table, to truly invigorate your senses. This is the holistic development that Great Lakes has inculcated in the 8000 plus students who have
passed through our hallowed halls. One more thing that sets us apart is that we are committed to continuous progress and evolution. Case in
point is the inclusion of ‘Analytics’ among the functional specializations. Further, you remain a student for life – long after you have graduated
and physically moved out of our premises – since our teaching pedagogy includes ‘blended’ modules capable of reaching students and alumni
across the world to keep your learning constant and relevant.

During your time with us, you will not only learn subject matter from experts of world renown, but also work along with us, leading the change
and evolution of the learning process. This is the way of life as we know it. This is why we are distinct. This is also why Great Lakers are a rare
breed. And, this, is most certainly why I hope you will make an informed decision and choose to join the Great Lakes Family.

Swagatham!

DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

“From the inception, our objective has been to fully integrate

with the industry and cater to both its present and future
requirements.”
GREETINGS!

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon, in a short span of 8 years has emerged as one of the most innovative and progressive B-schools
of the country. From the inception, our objective has been to fully integrate with the industry and cater to both its present and future require-
ments.
As a new age B-School, in line with our goal of being the most industry responsive business school in the country, we have pioneered several
initiatives. Great Lakes, Gurgaon, has been the first business school to introduce Analytics specialization in full time programs back in 2013,
foreseeing that the future of decision making across fields will be driven by data. We have also designed and offered a cutting edge executive
program in Business Analytics, PGP-BABI (Post Graduate Program in Business Analytics and Business Intelligence) which has been consistently
ranked No.1 in the country, ahead of all the top B-schools which are decades older! Not resting at that, we are again pioneering the introduction
of a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) given that these will be the critical tools for businesses going forward.

For a B-school to prosper, there is a need for a good eco-system and close relationship with industry. Our very presence with a beautiful
residential campus in the corporate hub of Gurgaon in Delhi NCR is a key enabler to achieve this objective of close engagement with the
industry. We have been very successful in establishing a very vibrant engagement with corporates with a series of industry engagement
activities such as Live Projects, Guest Lectures by CXOs, Management Conclaves, etc. Apart from internal faculty, the senior industry experts
also play a significant role in co-creating and co-delivering our curriculum. The curriculum, rich in cutting-edge areas and manifold platforms for
industry engagement, promise a highly rewarding learning environment for our students. Also, being in the Delhi NCR region, we benefit from
close proximity to a very diverse set of corporates ranging from new age startups to fortune 500 companies.

The biggest strength for Great Lakes, Gurgaon, however, is our faculty who are among the most experienced and respected academicians in the
country. Almost all our faculty have PhDs and most have taught at the very top business schools. Enabling them is a culture of openness and
innovation which promotes close interaction with students as well as industry.

In summary, a prime location, great faculty, cutting-edge curriculum and close industry relationship altogether makes Great Lakes, Gurgaon a
preferred destination for MBA aspirants and a responsive partner to businesses from all over the country. I invite you to engage with us and
experience a transformational educational journey.

Best Regards,

DR. DEBASHISH SANYAL Director, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon

ABOUT HR CONCLAVE 2019

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon, organized the Great

Lakes HR Conclave, based on the theme "Millennials and the Evolving
Work Environment", at Le Méridien, Gurgaon on 9th August, 2019.
The conclave was conducted to explore ways of creating the best workplaces for Millennials,
giving them the tools they need to succeed. The objective was to set the bar for organizations
seeking to retain and develop the next generation of leaders and give them jobs with purpose and
meaning to give their best at work, benefiting the company as a whole. Motivating millennials and
making the best use of technology at the workplace were the key areas that the two panel
discussions at the conclave focused on.

THEME 1: MANAGING MILLENNIAL MOTIVATIONS

Millennials look forward to working in an empowering workplace. With the right motivation, they can contribute
towards the overall progress of an organization. Incentives play a direct role in motivating these millennials.
These incentives can be in the form of both rewards and recognitions. Work culture also plays a crucial role in
motivating these employees. Flat organizations with flexible work timings, open workspaces, freedom to work
from home and an unrestrained work culture especially find favour among these millennials.

THEME 2: NAVIGATING THE TECHNOLOGY -

IMPACTED WORKPLACE

Technology has found its place in every facet of life, including jobs. To complement the workplace expectations
of millennials, use of personal devices and open internet access tend to give more freedom and flexibility to
these employees. Technology-driven mobility has become a motivating factor leading to improved dedication
and productivity among millennials. The fact that technology is a sixth-sense for the Generation-Y, it has become
almost inevitable to incorporate technology at any kind of workplace. At the same time, avoiding misuse of
technological freedom is equally important.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
Great Lakes emphasizes on experiential learning, whether it involves developing leadership
and managerial skills, honing strong analytical skills, understanding and analyzing business
cases, or dealing with capital markets. The end result is a business-ready manager who is
sensitized to the needs of the organization as well as the society.

The Art of Leadership blends with the

Science of Management
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
Apart from the classroom learning, the students also learn leadership by undertaking community development projects
and initiatives.

The projects create a mutual win-win situation for both the students and the community. With initiatives such as helping
orphans with education, empowering women, green environment and cleanliness drives, the community gets support from
budding managers while the students get to hone their knowledge, skills and understanding the needs of the community,
helping them become better leaders.

LIVE INDUSTRY PROJECTS

To provide students with a holistic learning experience, the learning in the classroom is supplemented with mentored Live
Industry Projects. Students are free to take up live projects in domain of their choice.

These live projects are worked on by students in small groups of three over a six month period from August/September to
January/February. The students are mentored by the project owner from the company and a faculty member from
Great Lakes.

The live projects create a win-win situation for the students as well as the companies they work with. The students get an
excellent learning experience from a project of importance to the company, closely mentored by the company project owner.
The company benefits significantly because they get high quality resources to work on a real business problem they are facing.

STUDENT COMMITTEES

DEAR ASPIRANTS,

The old saying ‘Shape up or Ship out’ is more relevant today than at any other point of time in the history of mankind. Faster access to informa-
tion has enabled faster decision making which has transformed the way business happens. People and businesses need to reorganize
themselves in order to remain relevant in this fast changing environment. This makes business management increasingly complex. Socio-eco-
nomic changes have altered the consumer demand and the way delivery happens. Advances in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and
Analytics have enabled solutions for the changing demand patterns.
Great Lakes invites you all to participate in this lively journey of learning to deliver effective efficient solutions that go beyond delighting the
consumer. We believe that knowledge, skills and resourcefulness of people are critical to sustain development, and economic and social
activity. Our two year Post Graduate Diploma in Management is designed to prepare students for careers in industry, across all economic
activity. Our program equips students with strong conceptual skills to manage business in an integrated manner. One of the most important
things we do for students is not just teach them specific knowledge and functional skills, but help them match their interests to their career
path. The emphasis is on developing managerial competence and enhancing personal effectiveness, with a vision to take on the challenges of
the future.

Our methodology of teaching as well as specialization has given us distinct identity in the space of management education in the country. Our
renowned faculty members have worked in India and abroad, in academia and industry. All the members of the faculty are institutions by
themselves, hold PhD degree, have published research papers extensively and have exposure of teaching and research globally. Our state-of-the
art class rooms, a resource center with latest books and national and international journal and a Wi-Fi enabled campus provide the best
ambience for learning. We are strongly networked with industry. Our visiting faculty are the experts of the trade and industry and bring with them
a rich mix of experience.

Come and transform the business world by enhancing your own uniqueness. A lot of success stories are to be written in this era where
businesses are fast losing their relevance. Let’s get sensitised to the new world order and design ourselves to stay relevant; to outperform
competition; and to paint the business world in new hues that represent the uniqueness in you!
