2020 Alleghany County 4-H Poultry Chain

Are you interested in participating in the Alleghany County 4-H Poultry Chain? We are currently
accepting agreements for the 2020 project year through April 17th.

Members participating in the Alleghany County 4-H Poultry Chain Project will receive 10 Black Sex Link

day old pullets on April 23, 2020. Black Sex Link hens are good sized, with docile personalities, and are
outstanding brown egg layers. These hens will lay between 200 and 280 eggs per year under ideal
conditions.

The 4-H Poultry Chain will supply 25 day old chicks to participants free of cost. The participant will be
responsible for caring for and feeding all of the chicks through the conclusion of the project (Botetourt
County Fair, August 8, 2020). 5 of the best pullets will be returned to the fair to be sold. After the fair,
the 4-H member can decide to keep the remainder of the birds or sell them private treaty.
