B. Reason:
The Gearbox Duplex Output Drive Bearing may have been improperly shimmed during
assembly at Allison, resulting in an improper shim dimension between the bearing retainer
plate and the duplex bearing. To date there have been no reports from the field of metal
generation due to this improper shim stack.
C. Description:
Recalculate the Duplex Output Drive Bearing shim thickness.
D. Approval:
Technical aspects are FAA approved.
E. Comoliance:
Compliance Code 5: To be complied with at the next access to the shim stack. This is a one
time inspection.
F. Interchanaeabilitv:
Not affected.

2. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

A. At the next disassembly of the front magnetic carbon seal/duplex bearing area recalculate the
bearing shim stack thickness per the appropriate Operation and Maintenance Manual (14W4
or CSP 21000).
NOTE.
-- Shims required due to improper calculation of the shim stack during assembly at
Allison will be furnished free of charge from Allison.
B. Record compliance in the Engine Log Book, Gearbox Assembly (yellow pages), Part III,
Modification Record as applicable with the following:
