VOX POPULI 2019

REPORT

About Vox Populi:

Vox Populi: The Social Impact Forum is an initiative which connects students with
organizations leading in social impact-driven initiatives across the country. This event is aimed at
providing a platform to the students to interact with and engage with organisations involved in
solving contemporary challenges faced in developing India. The event starts with a keynote
address, followed by short presentations by the invited organisations, about their work. Post these,
the interested students can go and register themselves as volunteers or interns with the
organisations. The event is being jointly conducted by The Planning Forum, the Social Service
League and the Campus Placement Cell of St. Stephen's College.

Vox Populi 2019 was held on 2nd April 2019 in the college hall. It started at 2 PM with a keynote
address by Smt. Medha Patkar and Dr. Harish Hande. The NGO interaction started at 3:30 PM and
ended at 5:00 PM. It saw the presence of 16 NGOs from various fields of work and a foot fall of
120-150 students from St. Stephen’s College.

The limitations noticed in Vox Populi 2019 were:

● Only 90 minutes of interaction time which resulted in overcrowding of the college hall and
students were not able to interact with all NGOs
● Arranging college hall by removing all the chairs took 20 to 30 minutes leading to shortage
of time for NGO interaction
● Only 16 NGOs visited campus due to lack of available infrastructure

Considering the limitations such as the time of NGOs interaction and rearranging college
hall, we want to make following changes to Vox Populi 2020:

● To use SCR lawns for interaction so that we can accommodate more NGOs and students
resulting in expansion of reach
● To start the NGO interaction at 11:30 AM to expand the NGO interaction time which
results in effective interaction and impact.
● To host 25 PAN Indian and International NGOs from various fields of work so that our
junior members will get an opportunity to interact and work with NGOs from all walks of
life
● To make the registration process digital which is not only more environmentally-friendly
but would also increase efficiency of the event
● To conduct on-spot interviews to speed up the recruitment process
VOX POPULI 2020

We have planned the event on the 19th of March 2020 with a proposed budget of Rs. 20000.
Budget for Vox Populi 2019 was Rs. 9000.

It is planned as an event open for junior members of St. Stephen’s College and students from
other colleges of Delhi University.

An informal online survey was conducted in college to know about the junior member’s
interest for Vox Populi 2020. The statistics of the survey indicate that 288 students have
expressed interest for Vox Populi 2020. Please find below the details regarding the survey.
