IV. Objectives
Objective #1: TLWBAT (PA. 3.1 K.A.3) Observe, describe, and document the life
cycle of a living organism
Objective #2: TLWBAT (PA.3.1 K.C.2) Describe how species adapt to seasonal
temperature change.
V. Differentiation
a. Strategies for Differentiated Instruction
i. For a gifted child who needs enrichment, they will be asked questions like,
“do apples grow like other fruits?” and “what about the life cycles of other
organisms?” This will encourage the student to think abstractly about life
cycles.
ii. For an exceptional child, such as a deaf child, students can attempt to sign
or point to the objects during the activity. This will expand the process of
learning, and making the lesson appropriate for all children.
VI. ENGAGEMENT
Teacher will show the “stages of an apple” and its various parts
Teacher will explain how the cycle can begin with one little seed
Teacher can ask how to grow a tree from a seed
VII. EXPLORATION
Students will discuss what fruits have seeds
Students will discuss the various parts of an apple
Students will discuss where they see fruits or other plants grow around them
VIII. EXPLANATION
Teacher will emphasize the various parts of an apple
Ask: “what part of an apple begins the cycle?”
IX. ELABORATION
Students will create a book that labels each part of the apple
Discuss how plants change during seasons
Discuss healthy ways for plants to grow
X. EVALUATION
Students will color finished life cycle book
Students will describe the appropriate parts of the apple using their book for
reference
XI. E-LEARNING
I will use a video or powerpoint to emphasize the life cycle of an apple
