1 Language: verbs + gerund or infinitive

Some verbs are followed by the gerund (verb + -ing).
• I enjoy swimming. • I'm thinking of leaving.
Here are some verbs that are followed by a gerund:
• admit • avoid • consider • delay • dislike • feel like • spend time
• enjoy • think of • finish • put off • mind • spend time • suggest

A Complete the second sentence so that it means the same as the first.
Example: Do you want to discuss the situation?
• Do you feel like discussing the situation?

1 He said, “I didn't steal the money.” 5 My sister might take a part-time job.

• forget • hope • attempt • manage • offer • plan • pretend
• promise • refuse • seem • (would) like

B Complete the sentences using the infinitive plus one of the verbs above.
