Respected,

Ma’am
This is on the behalf of all students of the third year, who all have received a mail along with letters
to their parents regarding the non-attendance of the Industrial Academic Conclave 3.0 held on
16 and 17 November 2019.
All the above-mentioned students in the mail are called upon by the university on 7/12/2019 that is
5 days prior to the end semester examination starting from 12 of December. We all are asked to
come to attend a video recording of the 2 days of conclave from 9 am to 12 pm as a punishment for
not attending the conclave as it falls under the category of indisciplinary behaviour as per the
mail. And, any student failing to that will be not allowed to give the End semester exam which is
beginning from 12/12/2019. The reason given behind taking such a step is, ‘it was an opportunity of
learning and we should not miss it’
All the above-mentioned students are demanding reasonable grounds why they all should come and
attend the video lecture of the same.
All the students were informed about the flagship event of the industrial conclave on 14 of
November 2 days prior to the conclave. Being weekend all students had some prior engagements.
Majorly all the students not attending were engaged with the work university had assigned at the
last moments and November being a wedding season were busy with the weddings of the dear ones
and some had health issues.
The assigned tasks by the institute were as follows,
- We’re having there all subject MCQ in the following week of the conclave.
- We all were allotted the project work by the subject teachers which were to be
submitted in that week.
- The Mock trial Intra-mural were to be conducted on the next weekend.
Apart from the work assigned, we were approached in a certain way that, all those attending the
conclave would be given 10 lectures’ ADDITIONAL attendance.
So, what if any student had proper required attendance in all the subjects and yet he/she claimed
those 10 additional attendances (after attending)?
Then, there was a possibility that his/her total attendance would go beyond 100%.
If not, then what was the provision for such students who already had enough attendance?
Moreover, if the sole purpose of this session is ‘an opportunity of learning’, then those students who
missed conclave ‘partly’ are missing some opportunity of learning too and those students who
missed the regular classes through-out the semester are also missing the opportunity of learning in
classes. What is the provision for their missed learning?
If not, then, why is this injustice to just those students who missed Conclave as a whole?
Respected Ma’am, we believe and agree that this flagship event is important for institution and also
it is an opportunity of learning. But we didn’t miss this opportunity with the motive of letting
institution down in front of such respected dignitaries or in any careless-ness. We had some prior
commitments which we already mentioned.
Ma’am, we maintain our regular class attendance within the limit of the criteria so that we don’t
have to appear in the appeal committee which usually takes place a week before the SEE. But here
we are being compelled to attend this session 5 days prior to the SEE even after having enough
attendance, which is hampering with the exam preparation schedule and thus giving us less time for
preparation for the End-Semester examination and this exam preparation can also be counted under
‘an opportunity to learn’.
Ma’am, yet we agree to the concern drawn in the mail about our missed learning and we have no
issue with 3 hours lecture or making brief notes. The only issue is about the day which is selected
for the same.
Respected Ma’am, it’s happening now on a regular basis that the students are told to attend lectures
just to get attendance saying if you attend, you will get attendance! So, eventually the purpose of
learning is remained unticked even after attending the lecture. When we say that ILNU is a TEMPLE
OF KNOWLEDGE, we students are sure that we don’t mean that only for attendance but for actual
learning. So for that, it’s our small suggestion that if one online form is circulated before any event
with few choices, of the respected dignitaries, out of them whom students want to listen, then the
students will participate more in such events.
All the students of the 3rd year concerned here requests the authority not to conduct any video
lecture on Sunday as punishment session. The punishment is unjust to the students who have
maintained their attendance throughout the semester and failed to attend the conclave (majorly due
to institutes assigned work) are threatened by not terminating there entire semester by not letting
them appear in the end term examination, whereas all the students who have failed to maintain the
attendance throughout the semester are given a free pass by letting them sit in the examination as
they didn’t fail to attend the 2-day conclave wholly/partly.
I hope the respected authorities will look deeply into the matter and seek justice to the students by
cancelling the video session on 7/12/2019.

Regards
3rd Year Students
