ONLINE AND ON-CAMPUS

CLASSES
Education is one of those things that can’t be compromised in any condition as its
builds up a person’s morale and character. There were on-campus classes held
mostly all around the world except the online courses but due to the Covid-19
Pandemic, every educational institution all around the world had to switch to
online classes to stop the spread of Pandemic and save the student’s lives. A
person who is fond of learning and increasing their knowledge always keep
learning no matter how much obstacles come in their way. So, it’s not a debate
for those people but the people who are lazy and who want to run away from
everything find their lame reasons everywhere and keep running away from their
responsibilities. But these people are the ones who face the losses in the long run
whereas the other people consistent in their progress achieve their goals one day.
So, it’s not really a debate that if the classes should be held online or on-campus
but the debate should be this way that if the classes are well organized by the
institutions and are knowledgeable for the students. Students can learn a lot in
both conditions if they really want to.
In On-campus classes, the students are concentrated towards the teacher and all
the students are visible to the teacher and the teacher can ask questions about
the lecture from anyone and keep a check of their attention. The students also
pay more attention to the lecture because they cannot do anything else but listen
to the lecture and they have a fear in their mind that if the teacher asks me
something about the lecture and I wasn’t being attentive, how can I answer the
question? Another good thing about the On-campus classes is that the students
are regular and don’t miss much classes because of a strict schedule. On-campus
exams have more strict invigilation which eliminates cheating factor in the exam
halls.
In Online classes, the students aren’t much attentive towards the lectures and
they can continue their own work while the lecture meeting is joined in the
background. The students are less regular in the Online classes as there are
internet issues and power outage issues especially in Pakistan and even the
students do not fear to bunk the classes. The schedule of the online classes gets
disturbed sometimes due to an unavailable teacher or institution duties imposed
on the teachers. There can be disturbances in the lecture meetings by the
outsiders which disturbs the whole lecture flow or rhythm and the students do
not remain as concentrated as they should be. In online exams the students are
attempting their exams at different locations and it is easy to cheat in the exam
and invigilator can’t do much about that.
In my opinion, I’d say the online classes are good for the current situation as
Covid-19 is spread all around the world but in normal conditions the on-campus
classes are more reliable and knowledgeable for the students. The higher screen
times aren’t good for anyone’s health as it can make your eyesight go weaker and
weaker on a prolonged use. I believe if the students and teachers co-operate with
each other and institutions organize them in a good enough way, then the both
conditions are acceptable and can be knowledgeable and gainful. But in the long
run, I’d prefer on-campus classes.
