Buenos días, tardes o noches Profesor. Hoy le presento el análisis y traducción de
la canción Mrs. Potato Head de Melanie Martínez. Debo resaltar que la elección
del tema musical correcto para este trabajo tuvo un proceso bastante arduo, ya
que no conseguía decidirme entre varias canciones, finalmente esta fue la
ganadora (hice el descubrimiento de esta artista por medio de recomendaciones).
Quería utilizar una canción que transmitiera un mensaje importante, por eso
estuve indagando en internet (requiriendo y recibiendo sugerencias) varias horas
hasta encontrarme con la canción adecuada para elaborar este trabajo.

1era Persona
I feel this song express how closed they are the actual beauty standars, and how
they can affect the mental health of oneself, when comparing us with other people.
If you have a low weight probably they’ll say you suffering food problems, instead,
if you have a high weight, they’ll say you have obesity. This song represent the
feeling of inferiority that we can feel for not feeling attractive enough for the society.
In the musical video we can watch how girl change her physical appearance for
other person, at the end, she is not enough, and she feeling bad whit herself for his
appearance. Personally I think it okay modify oneself, as long as you deserve it,
not for complacent third people. Everybody has an unique beauty, that manifest in
different ways, and that is perfect like this. We all have something that sets up
apart from the other people, we not have change our faces, only we have to
change the way that we see us.
3era Persona
This song express the stereotypes in the actual society, and the way in which they
can affect the perception of every single person. The actual beauty standards are
very closed, if they have a low weight, probably they suffering food problems, all
the same time if they have a high weight, you think about obesity. The song depict
a feeling of inferiority that can be felt a person, thinking that it is not attractive
enough for the society, generating psychiatric diseases.
We hear in the song “Mrs. Potato Head, tell me, Will a pretty face make it better?”
When we talk about Mrs. Potato Face, refers to the toy in Toy Story, which can
change their accessories as wish.
It should also be noted that in the music video we can see how a person modifies
his body for someone else. Be changed, might be fine, as long as you want, not to
please third parties. Every single person has a unique beauty, which manifests
itself in different ways, and that way is perfect.

Siento que esta canción expresa lo cerrados que son los estereotipos de la
sociedad actual, y como pueden llegar a afectar la salud mental de uno mismo al
compararse con otras personas. Si tienes un peso bajo probablemente te dirán
que sufres de problemas de alimentación, en cambio si tu peso es alto, te dirán
que sufres de obesidad. Esta canción representa el sentimiento de inferioridad que
podemos llegar a sentir por no ser suficientemente atractivos para la sociedad.
En el video podemos observar que una chica cambia su físico por otra persona, y
al final no es suficiente, y ella se termina sintiendo mal con su aspecto físico.
Personalmente pienso, que está bien modificarse, siempre y cuando tú lo desees,
no para complacer a terceros. Cada persona tiene su propia belleza, la cual se
manifiesta de distintas formas, y así es perfecto. Todos tenemos algo que nos
distingue del resto, no debemos cambiar nuestro rostro, debemos cambiar la
forma en que nos apreciamos a nosotros mismos.
3era Persona
Esta canción habla sobre lo estereotipada que se encuentra la sociedad actual, y
como puede llegar a afectar la percepción de cada individuo. Los estándares de
belleza actuales son muy cerrados, si se tiene un peso bajo, se puede llegar a
pensar que sufre de problemas de alimentación, si por el contario el peso es
elevado, se piensa en obesidad. La canción representa el sentimiento de
inferioridad que podría sufrir una persona por no ser lo suficientemente atractivo
para la sociedad, generando enfermedades psiquiátricas.
Se puede escuchar “Sra. Cara de papa, dígame, ¿Una cara bonita lo hará mejor?”
Al hablar de la Sra. Cara de papa se refiere al juguete de Toy Story que puede
cambiarse según lo desee.
También cabe resaltar que en el video musical se puede observar como una
persona modifica su cuerpo por alguien más. Modificarse podría estar bien,
siempre y cuando se desee de forma personal y, no para complacer a terceros.
Cada persona tiene su propia belleza, la cual se manifiesta de distintas maneras, y
así es perfecto.
