Should is a modal verb.  It is used to make recommendations or give

advice.

Look at these examples:

You should drink water every day.  (recommendation)

He should study for the test tomorrow.  (advice)
GUIDE N° 1

Grammatical Structure
subject + should + main verb + complement

he should eat vegetables

You should visit the doctor

NEGATIVE FORM

Should not or Shouldn’t just puts the sentence in the negative form.  So

you are NOT recommending something, NOT advising something.

You shouldn’t watch a lot of TV.  (recommendation/advice)

She should not buy that old car.    (recommendation/advice)

Grammatical Structure
subject + shouldn’t + main verb + complement

he shouldn´t eat fast food

You shouldn´t swim in the river

Important note:

 remember the modal verbs Should or shouldn´t are between the subject
and the main verb.
 After the modal verb should or shouldn´t the verb goes in its simple form.
(example should write, shouldn´t talk, should speak)
