The bicycle, a means of transport that improves the quality of life

Every time a persons uses the bicycle as a means of transport to move around the city, it

generates both personal and social benefits, since the bicycle allows us to move and at

the same time improve our quality of life. Thus in Bogotá, bike lanes have been

implemented, so that cyclists are safer and do not put their daily lives at risk, as well as

the implementation of mobility standards.

The bicycle allows at the persons transported for the city every day, without spending a

lot of money or pollute the environment, as it is a means of transport mechanic, that it

doesn’t need fuel for its operation, which generates that it doesn’t emit toxic gases that

pollute the city air, thus having a gas-free city, where citizens can breathe better, having

a better quality of life, increasing endorphins that make us feel better automatically.

Nevertheless, in Bogota only the 19 percent of the persons used the bicycle as means of

transport daily, despite all the benefits it brings. The persons prefer to move by car or

motorcycle, having to endure the traffic of the city, since they shouldn’t generate more

effort in them, so they use fuel that make them move automatically, without greater

effort from people.

Therefore, people want to be encouraged to use the bicycle, implementing rules that

protect the well-being of cyclists, so that people feel safer in using the city bike. Giving

campaigns that show the health benefits and the environment generated by the bicycle,

to stimulate the use of it. Among the rules is that cyclists also use the protective

implements necessary for their mobility in the city, so as not to generate as many

accidents.
In conclusion, each person should gradually implement the use of the bicycle as a

means of transport, since this brings benefits, which will generate a better quality of life

in the city, this is why the government of Bogota has implemented rules for better

mobility of cyclists, so that all citizens generate awareness that this means of transport

allows us to have a cleaner city with less traffic.
